NRA endorses McCain-Palin ticket

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/10/07/art.macpalwave1007.gi.jpg caption="A powerful gun rights groups has announced it will endorse Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin."]
(CNN) – The National Rifle Association said Thursday it plans to endorse Sen. John McCain and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, citing Sen. Barack Obama's "anti-gun record."

"We will encourage gun owners, hunters and anyone who values freedom to vote McCain-Palin on November 4," Wayne LaPierre, the NRA's Executive Vice President, said in the statement.

Obama has been on poor terms with gun rights advocates, especially since his controversial remarks about rural residents of Pennsylvania were disclosed before the Pennsylvania Democratic primary. Obama lost to Sen. Hillary Clinton in that race despite investing substantial time campaigning in the battleground state.

The U.S. Supreme Court held for the first time in June of this year that the Second Amendment of the Constitution protects an individual right to own and carry a gun.

I guess this means that McCain is going to win the election. I didn't see this happening.

  3. Hussein and proud of it!

As a Consitutional scholar, Senator Obama supports a citizen's right to own a weapon. He also believes that some people give up that right when they commit a crime. If you agree that there are some people who, because of their actions, should not be permitted to own guns, Obama's your guy.

Apparently the NRA disagrees and wishes to put guns in the hands of violent criminals. Otherwise, they'd be endorsing Senator Obama instead of their knee-jerk endorsement of the right winger running against him.

    NRA = Not Real Alert

And what's wrong with the NRA endorsing McCain/Palin. It's their right to do so. How about ACORN Endorsing OBLAHMA especially when they are being probed ofn Voter Fraud in Wisconsin, Ohio, Florida, Indiana, Nevada....

Nothing new here – just as some have rightly pointed out.

John Mcbush/ Sarah Mcpalin believe that the only way to show your patriotism to them(not to America – after all, they talk and act like they and their families are the only true Americans) is by having your self killed in Iraq for the Rebublican Party's(GOP) cause – any thing else is unpatriotic and not worth talking about.
The Gun makers will lose if American's are convinced that keeping guns out of the hands of criminals, the mentally unstable -who take advantage of the freedom to bear arms, deprive other people their most fundamental of all rights...............the right to life!!!!
How many horrific acts have been carried out because of lax laws, laws that practically puts a gun into your hands if you can just show the dollar bills!
The NRA is a cohort of gun manufacturers, the Rebublican Party is the cohort of the NRA – if you ask me, that's birds of same feather flock together!
God bless Israel, God bless America!

Political ticker why is my comment always awaiting moderation. Obama will win this election, so NRA it's ok you that you support the looser. I have to make a comment of Cindy McCain. Cindy you should take some advise from Michelle Obama, instead of attacting people when you know that it was not true. God help us all if you become first lady.

AMERICANS ARE THE MOST PATRIOTIC PEOPLE ON THE PLANET..
"MCCAIN'S MOTTO OF PUTTING "COUNTRY FIRST " MEANS BEIGN WILLING TO LAY DOWN YOUR LFE FOR OUR GREAT COUNTRY WHICH HE DID. MCCAIN AND GOVERNOR PALIN ARE PRO GUN OWNERSHIP AND ENDORSED BY THE NRA.
CALLING YOURSELF AN NRA MEMEBER AND AGIANST THE REPUBLICAN S IS A DISGRACE TO OUT COUNTRY IF YOU PUT YOU GUN ONERSHIP ABOVE YOUR OWN COUNTRY, AMERICA, LAND OF THE FREE AND HOME OF THE BRAVE. THE BRAVE ARE OUR SOLDIERS IN IRAQ WHO FIGHT, BLEED AND DIE FOR AMERICA AND FOR YOU AND ME AMERICANS. I AM MORE SURPRISED AND DISSAPOINTED TO FIND SUCH AN UNPATRIOTIC PERSON AS YOU

Guns is right up there with Gay Marriage as an issue that should concern anyone considering the economy...What good are guns if you can't afford the ammo?

Geee, now there's a big surprise.

Just as gun manufacturers are shocked and surprised when their automatic weapons are used to kill a whole bunch of people, so too will McCain and Palin profess to be surprised when one of their rabid right-wing nutjobs, incited by the McCain/Palin line of utter bullcookies, tries to take out Senator Obama.

McCain and Palin are the worst excuses for Christians I've ever seen.

So we're supposed to be surprised? I guess we could consider it a positive article for McPalin. Or not. At least the gun ownership (non)debate has been good for the economy at local gun stores. You should see all the panicked people lined up to purchase guns, ammo, hi-cap clips, night vision scopes etc. before Obama "takes them all away" (which he won't).

I am so tired of waiting to Vote I just requested my absentee ballot so I can get it mailed in ASAP.

OBAMA/BIDEN 08 I can not fallom how anyone can vote any other way considering all that is at stake.

Like Michelle said, Gifted people must take a stand and use their gifts for the Greater Good. I know how inspired Obama has made me become to get more involved as a Citizen. Neighbors helping Neighbors its the only way to bring this Country forward.

May God Protect Barack Obama and Joe Biden and families from harm of the "radicals" that have firearms and I am not referring to Hunters or true Gun lovers just the crazies that have them to show there Power because they might have little pee pees. May God Keep them Safe and Guide them!!! Amen

The story isn't that the NRA endorsed a Republican ticket. The story is that it took until October to do it.

  24. Independent but Leaning

Steve from New Braunfels- you do realize the Dems don't believe that the 2nd amendment protects an individual's right to bear arms, don't you?

It's much easier for Obama to tell us what comeercials we can have on TV when the populace is defenseless and cannot repulse a tyranical government. How quickly people forget history, or else think 'it will never happen here.' Scary that people are so naive; thank God or founding fathers weren't that naive and were foresightful enough to protect us against our own stupidity.
