NRA endorses McCain-Palin ticket

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/10/07/art.macpalwave1007.gi.jpg caption="A powerful gun rights groups has announced it will endorse Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin."]
(CNN) – The National Rifle Association said Thursday it plans to endorse Sen. John McCain and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, citing Sen. Barack Obama's "anti-gun record."

"We will encourage gun owners, hunters and anyone who values freedom to vote McCain-Palin on November 4," Wayne LaPierre, the NRA's Executive Vice President, said in the statement.

Obama has been on poor terms with gun rights advocates, especially since his controversial remarks about rural residents of Pennsylvania were disclosed before the Pennsylvania Democratic primary. Obama lost to Sen. Hillary Clinton in that race despite investing substantial time campaigning in the battleground state.

The U.S. Supreme Court held for the first time in June of this year that the Second Amendment of the Constitution protects an individual right to own and carry a gun.

    "anyone who values freedom"...
Homocide in Canada and the USA is the same rate per 100,000 until you include death by firearms, which sends the USA over the top!
Freedom to kill, or freedom to live in peace?
Look at other country's record on this. It is the one truly antiquated policy of the USA in this modern era. No one needs a hand gun, except law enforcement.

What a surprise! My friends, McCain knows how to fix the economy and he knows how to catch Bin Laden but bt friends patriot McCain will not tell us and will keep us "prisoners" until we elect him and now the NRA will provide the guns to keep us "prisoners". Seems perfectly consistent.

Wow! I can't believe it! (end sarcasm)

Not too surprising, considering you have biggots at McKlan/aPaulin rallies shouting about killing Obama.

What else is new! It's like saying Bush/Cheney endorses McCain/Palin.

Big change is coming. The consensus among the American people is that 8 years of republlican administration is enough and it is time to turn the page.

    Landslide Obama/Biden 08/12.

So you want everyone who owns a gun to put on a swim and drape an American Flag around their waist and say, I have a gun now is yours bigger or shoot faster than mind. It's okay for the NRA to endorse such a sleazer group. But remember some of the gun slinging maverick sdon't have sense when it comes to gun safety or when to shoot the dam thing. Give everyone the right to carry their guns when and whereever they want NRA and when everyone start using them without thinking then the blood will be on Palin and NRA hands.

Not surprising – but I was a Republican who was supporting Obama….but hearing the positions they are offering…which I don't support….I just couldn't….socialism is not the answer….(unless the question was…how to wreck this country)"

    -----------–

Even McCain supports socialism. Have you not heard his latest plan ?

A maverick is– a person who thinks independently; a lone dissenter; a non-conformist or rebel.
    –Wikipedia

We don't need another maverick in the White House. Haven't we had enough of the that with George W. Bush? He "mavericked" himself to torture people, which is NOT American.

We want someone in the White House who will follow the law and not bend the rules to start personal wars.

Where can you be a maverick?
On the DANCE FLOOR! Not that we have anything to dance about, yet. But if Barack Obama and Joe Biden win the election, I plan to get "mavericky" on the dance floor. When you dance, you should be a non-conformist and just let the music move you.

On November 4th get "mavericky" folks, and do the "maverick" dance all night long.

What antigun record? Obama simply supports keeping guns out of the hands of criminals. The fact of the matter is that far too many criminals have guns and use them for illegal activities. I support every law abiding citizen owning a gun if they so choose, but the fact is that more and more guns are falling into the hands of those who will not be using them for hunting or recreation. They are falling into the hands of the people lurking in dark corners of society. The NRA is wrong on this issue.
