NRA endorses McCain-Palin ticket

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/10/07/art.macpalwave1007.gi.jpg caption="A powerful gun rights groups has announced it will endorse Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin."]
(CNN) – The National Rifle Association said Thursday it plans to endorse Sen. John McCain and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, citing Sen. Barack Obama's "anti-gun record."

"We will encourage gun owners, hunters and anyone who values freedom to vote McCain-Palin on November 4," Wayne LaPierre, the NRA's Executive Vice President, said in the statement.

Obama has been on poor terms with gun rights advocates, especially since his controversial remarks about rural residents of Pennsylvania were disclosed before the Pennsylvania Democratic primary. Obama lost to Sen. Hillary Clinton in that race despite investing substantial time campaigning in the battleground state.

The U.S. Supreme Court held for the first time in June of this year that the Second Amendment of the Constitution protects an individual right to own and carry a gun.

    Hey Folks,

Try not to notice our failing economy behind the curtain.

Don't allow McClueless to change the subject.

    It's the ECONOMY stupid.

McCain will start World War 3, drive the final nail into our economy's coffin, and cause many employers to drop their health insurance coverage, but SO WHAT! Those darn liberals want to take away our guns!

On the other hand, if McCain gets elected, we'll all be broke so we'll need those guns to go out and hunt for food.

If your #1 voting priority is gun rights, seek help immediately.

To BM: You say they will set the country back 200 years. Well Bush and Cheney already did that so McCain-Palin can take it back even further to completely re-write the Constitution so that it actually reads they way they want it to and not have to "interpret" its so-called flexibility.

Who is John McCain? Who are his friends? S&L felon Charles Keating, convicted of wire fraud and bankruptcy fraud, was a close social and personal friend of McCain. Robert Asher, a Republican National Committeeman from Pennsylvania – and a felon convicted on public corruption charges signed on to McCain's campaign in February. Notorious Watergate burglar G. Gordon Liddy, who at one time plotted to murder a journalist, has been donating money to McCain for the past decade. Raffaello Follieri (convicted on Sep. 10th, 2008 for conspiracy, wire fraud and money laundering) entertained McCain and Rick Davis on his Yacht on McCain's 70th birthday.

Mr. Obama does not want to take your guns away. Common sense gun laws apply differently to inner city, urban, suburban and rural settings, and that is exactly what he has stood for over the years in the Illinois legislature and in Washington. So stop perpetuating all the fear and smear, you Charlton Heston types. He may have been an O.K. actor, but he was a little hardcore when it came to the second amendment issues.

All of you rural hunters need to understand that where Obama is against guns is in the hands of criminals in the city. Not out in the country used for gaming or feeding your family. THere is a huge difference between that and a sub-machine gun in metro Chicago.

Please disappoint the conservatives and use sound judgement based on fact and not fear based spin.

Duh...only right wingers belong to this organization, so why would they support anyone else?

They say they are a non-partisan group, but they aren't. Just like McCain says he's for the veterans, but he's not.

McCain/Palin brings out the HATRED in people...... they will divide and DESTROY our great country if they win. (WATCH)

NRA is endorsing a PRESIDENT and VICE-PRESIDENT just because the other candidate said he favours some restraint when handing out guns??

It all comes down to being free to own guns and brandish them around? Well, do view movies on TV about some countries in Africa. Makes you envious doesn't it? All those guns...

If you look at the facts and statistics (which I know its too much to bother with facts) folks who own guns leagally do not commit crimes, they are used primarily for hunting and self defense if needed.
Now in other hands violent crimes with guns are usually done by people who aquire them illegally.

I own a shotgun, with licence of course, I am a member of NRA. I would never use my gun to commit crime, however if somebody enters my house without my permission and puts security of my family in question, that will most likely be the last thing he does on this earth.

    McCain/Pain '08/'12

PS. I was never gonig to vote for Obama anyways, but I do not understand Obama supporters, he has not given any details about anything, he does not get into details explaining his plans for USA, he is running on HOPE for changing USA.
I admit we need to change some things but by gally I like USA as it is, I am not fore sure that everything should be changed.

    What next? Moose hunters endorsement?

    Come on!!!

Obama does not have an anti-gun record. Every freedom comes with some responsibility. Whenever Responsibilities are mentioned it becomes Anti-something.

The free market needed someRegulation, somebody has the title of Mr Deregulation, see where that got all of us today?

Please can we go back to the real issues please?

    God bless America.

What happened to "drill baby drill", haven't heard McCain or Palin on that band wagon anymore, do you think it's because Alaska residence receive royalties from oil and McCain gives big money to oil companies. If Americans tax payers have to foot for cost of equipment to drill, shouldn't every American receive royalies from the sale of oil? Why are we none Alaskans exempt?

I'm a democrat ,but guess what I'll never vote for Obama. Every one has a right to a gun if you want one. If Obama gets president you'll need one. there will be people robbing and stealing, because they can't put bread on the table for their kids.Obama has told so many lies, he doesn't know what he's told. He is in Ohio today, I wonder if ACORN is there registering voters, and letting them vote, they let one woman vote 12 times, that's the way Obama works. They hav found 1800 cases of fraud already. That's how Obama works. Acorn had a good teacher, Obama.
