Obama purchasing 30 minutes of network airtime

(CNN) - Barack Obama is buying 30 minutes of airtime on the major television networks just days before the presidential election, the Obama campaign confirms.

Sources with the Obama campaign say half hour blocks have been purchased on Wednesday, October 29 on CBS and NBC.  The campaign is also in negotiations with Fox, though that day will conflict with the World Series if there is a game 6.

The buy was first reported by the Hollywood reporter earlier Thursday.

Evan Tracey of Campaign Media Analysis Group, CNN's consultant on ad spending, said it was unclear how much the blocs of air would cost, but noted 30 seconds alone in primetime usually runs between $80,000 and $125,000.

"This is a big platform, this is a big megaphone, the interest level is clearly there and people will watch," Tracey said.

  1. THAT ONE!!!!

Oh and its a long loop that has like two of his ads, then has about his life how he grew up, has pictures of his dad, his mom, his grandparents etc.. has Michelle tell about falling in love with him, a wedding photo, and shows him talking to everyday people.

Tells how he feels and what and why he wants to do about things in America.

    Hillary Democrat?
I doubt that you are, or you would heed her call to vote for Senator Obama.
By the way, Senator Obama has a job. He is a US Senator and deserves the respect that office affords him.
If you don't like him, at least be respectful of those he represents.
    to stkyrce,
Go to the Senator's website and read his plan. It's there for all to see.

Pleeeease say it ain't so. We need to just stay the course until election day – why take such a gamble?

The majority of voters will probably be turned off and perceive the program as self-absorbed. If it's poorly received, there's only five days until the election to combat the bad press and move on to something else.

As an avid Obama supporter, I'm deeply concerned.

Too bad McCain and Palin were not this democratic
I hope that McCain and Palin realize they need to step up and be *leaders* and denounce this anger in the crowds instigated the last few days by Palin and continuing today and then the media plays it up too!!
Need I remind people we are talking about a black man here
who could easily be targeted by some kook out there
this is a beautiful family we are talking about here
Like michelle Obama said last night people can disagree without being disagreeable and bitter
They both need to grow up and denounce this anger
All it takes is one angry person to get a crowd riled up
I seen that in Ed Henrys piece on the situation room

@Hillary Democrat. Do you honestly expect us to believe you are a democrat in support of John McCain. That's not possible, unless you love what he and Palin have been doing this week, presiding over hate rallies, stirring up some very disturbing emotions. That goes against the very definition of a democrat. Google it.

CHA-ching...putting my contribution $ to work.

Yes working hard! McCain was long long in TN when Obama stayed in the crowd to mingle with undecided voters for at least an hour. THAT ONE got my vote long before the Democratic primary even started.

You will need to inspire the American people, but you must also have a plan in place.

Obama needs those 30 min. McCain and his sidekick are throwing mud everywhere. They say they are asking for explanations. Fact have been checked, explanations have been given but apparently it's not only Palin that can't read. This is getting ugly from a supposedly wise man, who is certainly old enough not to be so amgry and desperate. Obama unfortunately will have to repeat his answers to those unimportant issues. They're even ressurecting Rev. Wright. What about the republican priest who are defying law and instructing their parishioners to vote for McCain? What about Keating? What about all those rabid acquaintances of McCain's? What about Senators Jesse Helms, Strom Thurmond and Robert Byrd? The list is long... McCain has a lot to explain. He keeps harping on Ayers... Ayers messed up, 40 years ago. These days he is an outstanding citizen. He was was named the Citizen of the Year in Chicago in 1987 for his education work, and is now a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Oh, "Hillary Democrat," you remain the most foolish of all. Wanting to vote for McCain so dear, dear Hillary will have her chance in 2012. Truth is, we will never survive four years of McCain, so get with the program, follow what Hillary said herself and get on board the ideals needed for America and not personal preferences due to gender and color.

The chosen one has surrounded himself with crooks like Harold Raines and J. Johnson. They took more than 100,000,000.00 dollars out of Fannie Mae. They now advice the chosen one. If I am to believe his talk, then they will soon be going to jail with the rest of the corporate crooks. Obama supports terrorist, that is important, especially as he continues to lie about their relationship. Only a brainwashed, drunk on the kool-aid Obama-maniac could believe the explaination that """ he was just a guy in the neighborhood"".

  21. Realize these real lies.

I think barack obama has bought air-time only to reach the people in a way only he can do... If you have ever been to one of his rallys then I'm sure you can just imaging when he can get air time what he could do or who he can reach... I'm sure he will show a lay out plan on moving this Country forward... What ever he will do with that time would be a good thing... As long as don"t spend that time to use it on knocking down McCain (cause he doing that all by himself)....DO YOUR THING OBAMA WE ARE THERE FOR YOU CAUSE YOU ARE LISTENING AND TO US!!!!!
