Obama purchasing 30 minutes of network airtime

(CNN) - Barack Obama is buying 30 minutes of airtime on the major television networks just days before the presidential election, the Obama campaign confirms.

Sources with the Obama campaign say half hour blocks have been purchased on Wednesday, October 29 on CBS and NBC.  The campaign is also in negotiations with Fox, though that day will conflict with the World Series if there is a game 6.

The buy was first reported by the Hollywood reporter earlier Thursday.

Evan Tracey of Campaign Media Analysis Group, CNN's consultant on ad spending, said it was unclear how much the blocs of air would cost, but noted 30 seconds alone in primetime usually runs between $80,000 and $125,000.

"This is a big platform, this is a big megaphone, the interest level is clearly there and people will watch," Tracey said.

This is a smart use of contributor funds. I so wish I could contribute to his campaign, but as a Canadian, it's against the law. All I can do is pray that the American people will vote for BHO.

Phil, you will put down your 10.00 to see their movies but don;t like how they spend said money once it's theirs, and you forgot that McCain went to Hollywood and shook his moneymaker the week before the last hollywood Obama fund raiser.

I don't believe CBS or NBC will charge him a dime.... they are in his pocket. I say let him have it – it will be worth watching him do down when he can't deliver on what he is promising.

Obama is a Radical FRAUD – he has too many "friends" who seem to be corrupt.

Good. Meanwhile I am sure the 'double standard' race card will come out. If it were McCain, way cool (The man who has 9 homes and wife with a $300,000 dress on.) But if Obama, elite stuckup, yada yada. Who married one 'educated' woman!

Here is one more reason why Obama should be president. While every organization in the country going down the tubes, Obama's campaign has so much money, it can pretty much buy any amount of air time it wants.

To the supposedly "Hillary Democrat"– if you really were a Hillary Democrat, you'd be doing what she is asking you to do– now vote for Obama!

Wether people want to admit it or not, there is something very unique about this man. He has strategically galvinized a nation, particularly the young people. This a movement! Similar to the history making Civil Rights Movement. Some people may not understand it yet, but hey, it took people a while to understand the significance of MLK and the Civil Rights Movement too.

We will be a prosperous nation if and when Obama runs this country the way he has run his campaign.

I think this is a great idea. Maybe he can have average Americans on with him so that he can talk with them and show that he understands their issues and talk about how he plans to address them. You know – get away from the Washington politics and get into what America wants and needs.

I have all the issues that I feel are important and why I am choosing Obama up on a web site I created - obama.jjamm.com. Feel free to check it out

  14. Very Impressed--yeah, right!

He earned this money at the Barbara Streisand fundraiser, or no, maybe it was the Bruce Springsteen Concert.....no, I'm sorry, it was the Madonna concert last night while she was flipping off people supporting Palin. I'll tell you, Obama is aligned with some pretty impressive people, huh? Even guys that like to blow up buildings and stuff. I understand Obama just released a one minute add talking about how he used to go fishing with his grandfather. Just the kind of information I've been looking for. People WAKE UP!!! Anyone who is ignorant and stupid enough to vote for this man is being extremely reckless with your privlege to vote. This is a man that has no experience, started politically in Chicago with honorable men like the Strogers and Ayers, has questionable ties to the Fannie Mae Freddie Mac Scandal, changes his mind everyday, doesn't stand for anything, AND has never initiated ANYTHING during his time in the Senate. He stands for change??

ALL LIBERALS WILL BE WATCHING THE 30 MINUTE Obama "Brainwash America"

Obama's resources are not unlimited. Let's make sure he and Joe Biden have our limited resources to stage a finish to this race which will overwelm the opposition. Don't forget the Democrats running for the House and Senate. With out them in the congress, President Obama will have "holes in his bucket" while he tries to carry our water.

This is awesome. Shows capability of complete control and interest of the problems which problem America. People want to hear, so this is what Obama will do: Talk to the American people. As Biden said, folks... this will be the most important election in your lifetime. Choose now which way you want this country to go. It has been too far right for too long. Greatest debt we have ever seen.

    Coming November 4, 2008...

'That One' will be elected the next President of the United States.

  17. Racist Rep.

Man, this guy is good I want to hate him so bad but I love him so much, he is white too black people can't have all the credit for this great leader. I wonder if he is my cousin or something, no I'm not smart enough. Now , I don't feel racist no more, and Rev. Wright was right, man I love JayZ, Tupac, Young Jeezy, etc. Black people are great remember they came from the richest country in the world, and survived everything this country has put them through. It feels good to show some love, because at the end of the day blacks always showed me love.

I would hope that those who want Clinton in 2012 would vote Democratic this year or there will be nothing for Hillary to govern. A Republican President with a Democratic Congress will get nothing done...just like the last 2 years. Think clearly before you let your disappointment about Clinton this year overwhelm your clear thinking.

Good news, should be something interesting I'm sure. Obama is smart, intelligent, and presidential. He will make good use of the time to further communicate his message. He will show the undecideds just how smart, intelligent and presidential he is. I can't wait for Election Day, so this country can start healing.

The best thing he could do with 30 minutes of airtime is to put McCain and Palin on live TV and let us all watch them implode.
