Watchdog group seeks ethics investigation of McCain

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/10/09/art.macup1009.ap.jpg caption="An ethics watchdog group has asked the Senate to investigate whether Sen. McCain failed to disclose gambling winnings."]
(CNN) – Ethics watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, commonly referred to as “CREW,” has requested that the Senate Ethics Committee investigate whether Sen. John McCain failed to disclose gambling earnings as required by federal law and the Senate’s own rules.

Click here to read CREW's request

Citing recent press reports, CREW alleges that McCain failed to disclose income earned from gambling on the personal financial disclosure forms he’s required to file as a senator. “Given Sen. McCain’s history of gambling on a regular basis over the years, it is nearly impossible to imagine that he never won over $200, the amount that triggers the reporting requirement,” CREW’s request says.

In the event the Senate Ethics Committee finds that McCain failed to disclose any gambling earnings, the watchdog group asks that the matter be turned over to the Department of Justice for a criminal investigation into whether McCain knowingly and willfully failed to disclose any winnings.

The McCain campaign has not responded yet to CNN’s request for comment about CREW’s request for an investigation.

I call this Karma....McCain and Palin have dug their own graves.
Would someone please throw them a rope so they can hang themselves....it would save time. They aren't digging fast enough.

Thank God for Obama and Biden.

This is more valid than any other character "flaws"- I don't want a compulsive gambler running my country. We've had enough of that, are seeing the economic ripples of the gambling anything-goes self-serving "maverick" culture.

McCain to America: "I am sorry to say this but I lost all of the taxpayers money on a roulette bet in Vegas. I bet on red but it came up black"

McCain needs nine homes so he has lots of closets to hide all the skeletons from his past. Keep digging, There's more in there.

    R Phillippi –
I would be very concerned about who McCain is getting money from also. He has lobbyists on his staff that represent the interests of other countries. He even has lobbyists for Taiwan and Georgia.

Perhaps his gambling strategies are like his economic strategies and he hasn't won money. It's not like he can't afford to lose over and over again...Cindy will keep him supplied.

Why isn't anyone the media talking about the mob atmosphere at McCain/Palin campaign rallys? After being incited by McCain and Palin, the mobs surrounding them appear ready to get a rope and lynch Obama!

This has to be the nastiest, most unAmerican campaign I've ever seen. Aren't there laws against inciting riots? These two and their supporters are threatening to destroy this country, and the media seems happy to urge them on.

McCain and the RNC brought this on by requesting the audit of Obama. What's good for one is good for the other.

We already know that McCain has had issues with ethics in the past (Keating 5). Why should we believe he changed back then?

If he did it, it's an ethics violation. It's right to investigate and if nececessary prosecute... the only thing I have a problem with is the timing. Are they investigating any other members of Congress for this?

Gambling is not a crime. McCain didn't cheat on taxes. He just profitted from the Bush tax cuts for the rich.

Anyway, let's get rid of both of them once & for all, instead of gambling with America.

So, tell me more about John and his first wife ? Was she sick and he
was having an affair with Cindy while she was sick and then what happened ? To get us to the point where he could marry Cindy ?

This is pretty cool, we don't have this excitement in Canada.

We do have the most stable Banking system in the world, Universal Health Care and Low taxes, but that isn't as interesting as all this
IMPORTANT STUFF that is going on in the U.S..
