Watchdog group seeks ethics investigation of McCain

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/10/09/art.macup1009.ap.jpg caption="An ethics watchdog group has asked the Senate to investigate whether Sen. McCain failed to disclose gambling winnings."]
(CNN) – Ethics watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, commonly referred to as “CREW,” has requested that the Senate Ethics Committee investigate whether Sen. John McCain failed to disclose gambling earnings as required by federal law and the Senate’s own rules.

Click here to read CREW's request

Citing recent press reports, CREW alleges that McCain failed to disclose income earned from gambling on the personal financial disclosure forms he’s required to file as a senator. “Given Sen. McCain’s history of gambling on a regular basis over the years, it is nearly impossible to imagine that he never won over $200, the amount that triggers the reporting requirement,” CREW’s request says.

In the event the Senate Ethics Committee finds that McCain failed to disclose any gambling earnings, the watchdog group asks that the matter be turned over to the Department of Justice for a criminal investigation into whether McCain knowingly and willfully failed to disclose any winnings.

The McCain campaign has not responded yet to CNN’s request for comment about CREW’s request for an investigation.

Ouch. Aren't the wingnuts gonna howl over THIS!? I personally don't care if he gambles – legally – but not reporting it to the IRS (so people won't know he gambles maybe?) ... tsk tsk.

Then on the other hand if he wins that much than maybe he CAN do something about the economy...

    Nah.

    Yep, fight fire with fire.

The Republicans need to pay for giving us George W. Bush the last two elections. They need to pay BIG TIME. Destroy them. Beat them. Investigate them. Dismantle them.

Then...maybe in some future election, they will humbly bring us an intelligent candidate and respect our intellect rather than the ideological idiots (Bush, Palin) they keep insisting on putting forth.

While you're at it, find out why McCain's military records are sealed, and why his mental evaluations were not released.

It's about time McCain and Palin are getting scrutiny. They have been running one of the most dishonorable and disrespectful campaigns in history. Somay lies and distorions and inciting racial violence and hatred..another divider is NOT we need. McCain's disdain for Obama is so evident..we dont need a Senator let alone a President who can't treat people on the other side civilally. Like Bush, McCain feel she is entitled to this role as President, and Cindy is even getting bitter and uglier...and it seems they will do anything, along with their pitbul, to make it happen. Country first? No way..McCain-Palin first is their motto.

John McCain, a good man, has so much against him in this presidential campaign already that I sincerely hope these charges are false. In the past I have greatly admired McCain but, after his selection of Sarah Palin as his VP, it is impossible for me to support him. My vote goes to Obama/Biden.

OOps.... Maybe he doesn't know that he can deduct any losses from the winnings. Or maybe he didn't want anyone to know that he gambles..... There's no way he hasn't won any money at $1,000 a roll playing craps on a fairly regular basis for many years. Either way, definitely not good

Americans should really be asking the question WHO IS SARA PALIN? Idiotic thinking Americans are completely willing to elect Sara Palin to the possible highest office in the land, to take charge of their lives, knowing absolutely nothing of substance about her. This is how Hitler got into power. At least Senator Obama has been vetted. Believe me, he would not have gotten this far without the feds going over him with a fine tooth comb. You can't say the same about Sara Palin. It will be too late when you can't check certain books out of the library, or your daughter who's pregnant from rape can't have an abortion because fascist Palin won't allow it. Americans should wake up and stop being vunerable and stupid in their responsability to elect a qualified person to office. You see what happened to the country under Bush, and he didn't care what our races were. We All got taken.
