Watchdog group seeks ethics investigation of McCain

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/10/09/art.macup1009.ap.jpg caption="An ethics watchdog group has asked the Senate to investigate whether Sen. McCain failed to disclose gambling winnings."]
(CNN) – Ethics watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, commonly referred to as “CREW,” has requested that the Senate Ethics Committee investigate whether Sen. John McCain failed to disclose gambling earnings as required by federal law and the Senate’s own rules.

Click here to read CREW's request

Citing recent press reports, CREW alleges that McCain failed to disclose income earned from gambling on the personal financial disclosure forms he’s required to file as a senator. “Given Sen. McCain’s history of gambling on a regular basis over the years, it is nearly impossible to imagine that he never won over $200, the amount that triggers the reporting requirement,” CREW’s request says.

In the event the Senate Ethics Committee finds that McCain failed to disclose any gambling earnings, the watchdog group asks that the matter be turned over to the Department of Justice for a criminal investigation into whether McCain knowingly and willfully failed to disclose any winnings.

The McCain campaign has not responded yet to CNN’s request for comment about CREW’s request for an investigation.

Maybe he'll have to send fruitcake out to do his bidding, while he focusses on this investigation. She can sell a few moose pies to help his campaign along.

WOW! That's big. That's Al Capone big. He never declared anything?! It would be bad enough to have a degenerate gambler and philanderer in the White House, but the thought of one who always loses! Which is worse, that he always loses or that he knowingly cheats?

This doesn't seem very important at this point, other than it going to McCain's character. It is possible that he has a gambling addiction and just keeps losing but because of the addiction, he can't stop gambling.

Good, now my question is... when is the media going to report and drill McCain and Palin about her ties to The Alaskan Independence Party? If Obama is "paling around with terrorsit" because he worked on educational charities with Ayers, I guess Sarah is a traitor since she is doing more than just paling around with her husband. Also, McCain's deep and proven ties to Keating makes him an embezzler. It's only fair for us voters to learn about their radical ties, so we can make an informed decision on Nov. 4th. Ain't that right, Pitbull?

  11. Rough choice

    Hilarious! McCain has two options:

    1. Admit you cheated on your taxes.

    2. Admit you are AWFUL at gambling.

At this point I think it's more important to get a real leader in the White House that can steer us out of this crisis. If I thought McCain could do this, I wouldn't care whether he reports his gambling winnings or losses.

I don't think McCain is the right person for the times that we find ourselves and I really don't care about any gambling problems he might have.
