WASHINGTON (CNN) - President Bush said Friday that the U.S. government will continue to work to resolve the economic crisis, which he said is being made worse by anxiety and fear.

Watch: Anxiety worses crisis, Pres. Bush says

"Over the past few days, we have witnessed a startling drop in the stock market," he said in the Rose Garden. "Much of it is driven by uncertainty and fear."

He added, "We will continue to act and resolve this crisis."

So… if you did all the right things- provided for yourself, saved, funded a 401K, denied yourself immediate gratification, lived within your means, did not buy MORE house than you could afford- the REWARD is to go bust?

All my hard work down the tubes?

What help is there for me to recoup and replace the losses from my retirement portfolio?

I do not have enough years left of hard work to replace it, and I do not have a pension plan, and any SS will be taxed… so how do I survive?

There is not going to be an easy fix to our nation's problems. When is congress going to listen to the experts, because obiviously this problem is way over their heads or we wouldn't be in this mess.

Noah, read a few tickers down and you will see that what you are writing has been factchecked and is a lie! Fact Check: Obama's tax plan and small businesses: The Verdict: Misleading. While Obama's plan would increase taxes for an undetermined number of small business owners who pay their taxes through personal income tax and whose incomes exceed $200,000, it would not establish across-the-board tax increases for all small businesses.

    Obama 08!

"Liberals actually think it is a good idea to elect someone who will raise taxes on small business owners, who are the economic engine of our country, and who will restrict free trade. You guys are brilliant. True economists. You cannot get past your hatred of George Bush so you want to punish the country by voting for Obama, who will severely hurt the economy much more."

Do some research dude...the average income of small business in US is $31,000.00 Far below the $250,000 tax bracket. It's not hatred, we just know how to read.

Seriously? Once again, this president thinks the problem is that WE don't understand and he has to explain it to us again. We are the problem. We don't get it. We just need to trust him. Yeah, right...

Dear Mr. President, please stop talking to us. You always make us feel worse. Most of us understand perfectly well. You don't know how to do your job and you never did.

I just want to take my marbles and go home.

Did McCain get it right when he was campaigning in Wisconsin and addressed the people saying "My fellow Prisoners"? Vote No to McCain/Bush, enough is enough.

Well ok Noah, you got me on being a Liberal and you're right I can't get past my hatred for King George. From the party of less government, we now have every aspect of our lives controlled by the Fascists White House. Now you guys are calling on the Feds to save all our butts, not just the wealthy, where did that come from?
I fail to comprehend how electing Obama is going to hurt the economy. By inauguration day we won't have an economy.

This crisis has been bungled so badly and still no one is wiiling to do anything that will make a difference. People are so wrapped up in their politics and their greed that they are strangling themselves. Focus on the people. They hold the solution.

Noah, you must not know any liberals. Most of us work for small businesses and don't want to lose our jobs. That's why we prefer fair taxes over borrow & spend economics. The problem is that continuing to borrow and spend is a recipe for failure. It creates a situation where taxes have to be burdensome in order to pay the price for borrowing so much. True economists know how to balance a check book. It works like this: you either have to generate revenue or borrow. The more you borrow, the further in debt you become. The amount of interest continues to climb until you cannot afford to pay the interest and principal due. Then, you either must raise more revenue or default.

If the past 7 years haven't shown you that supply-side economics doesn't work, you haven't been paying attention.

I love this. All you neo-morons and [R]ightwingers out there: the leader YOU elected to office twice is now telling you that the government will come to the rescue, the government is the answer. It must make you proud to be a Bush/McCain supporter, or are you dumbfounded at your own hypocrisy? I'm just LMAO, at YOU!!!!

Mr. Bush, what makes you think that you can come in now and fix the things you have spent 8 years messing up. We would be better off if you went back and started packing your things to go back to Crawford. Leave the speech making to someone who knows what they are talking about.
