Obama ad: 'Smears are all McCain has left'

Obama released a tough new response ad Friday.

Obama released a tough new response ad Friday.

Barack Obama’s campaign released a new ad late Friday in response to a hard-hitting spot from the Republican National Committee’s independent expenditure unit that focused on his relationships with Chicago figures like William Ayers and Bill Daley; the script follows. The campaign has not announced where the spot will be airing.

NARRATOR: John McCain admits if the election’s about the economy, he’s going to lose.

Now, as Americans lose their jobs and savings, McCain’s resorting to smears and false attacks

Barack Obama launched his first campaign here (a picture of a hotel flashes on screen), not in anyone’s living room

And Bill Daley? He was confirmed as Commerce Secretary and praised for his great work by none other than John McCain (a picture of the two men together appears.)

It’s clear, with no plan to fix our economy, smears are all McCain has left.

(Republicans have alleged that Obama launched his first campaign in Ayers’ living room – a charge the Illinois senator has denied.)

You are right President Obama, it is all him and his power abusing VP have left!! It is time to take back our country for true Americans, not for people who want power so they can make people do what they want them to do!!

Obama is wrong in one regard. McLame has more than smears left. In the next 3 weeks, I'm sure we'll see plenty of "Hail Mary" plays in his desperate attempt to win the election at any cost.

McLame at least showed a thread of decency yesterday in defending Obama when that idiot woman at his rally called Obama an Arab and a Muslim. It just goes to show how pathetically stupid many of our citizen are. Disgraceful.

  4. It's TROOPERGATE, Stupid!!

Sarah Palin UNLAWFULLY FIRED the state Trooper and ABUSED HER POWER AS GOVERNOR. Wow! What a surprise!
And all the time trying to point to Obama to take the heat off them!

Obama has been honest with his past, Palin has not!

Palin is obviously as corrupt at the rest of the BUSH/CHENEY/MCCAIN REPUBLICAN LYING MACHINE

Is this what you want for 4 MORE YEARS?

    REALLY!!

We need to get rid of the Corrupt Republican Leaders in Washington.

    WE NEED CHANGE, NOW!!!

ONE MORE REASON WHY I AM VOTING OBAMA/BIDEN ‘08

I am glad that Obama said this, because he is exactly RIGHT! All the McCain team has left are lies, hate, rage, and anger, and I am sick of it. They can't win on the issues, so they will employ nasty Rove-tactics to win-the same tactics used on McCain in 2000. It is just plain shameful. I have lost all respect for John McCain and if he wins the White House, he will NOT be my President. The second he and that idiot Palin takes the oath of office, every American-young and old, rich and poor, Black and White, liberal and conservative-will be witness to the beginning of the end of America.

But, my mind and soul will be at ease when I vote for Obama and Biden. At least I can say that I voted for the other team. My affliation with the Republican Party has ended.

  9. NoMccain

Since Mccain is openly embracing nefarious tactics like this, by default, Mccain should be charged with all of the smear tactics that have been used since the beginning of this race two years ago.
Don't we do this with criminals who get caught for commiting crimes of similar ones conducted in the past, and tie all of them to the criminals to add to their sentence? Then I do not see why Mccain is free from the allegation I raise, especially when he is openly embracing the divisive hatred he knows millions of Americans still have, in order to win.

BUT McCain now has 3 minutes of defending and praising Obama in his resume. Doesn't that negate everything he has done to this point?!? [sarcasm]

McCain is down to one wheel on the straight talk express!!

John McCain is done, he has nothing left to talk about that I am interested in hearing. Let's hope he keeps his supporters civil before and after he loses.

It is ABOUT TIME that Barack Obama addressed this.

If you say the same LIE over and over again, and no one challenges it, many people (many stupid people) will believe it as TRUE.

Hitler used the "big lie" technique. I am disappointed that McCain is doing likewise.

  13. Independent

It's pathetic to see McCain running such an dishonorable campaign.

McCain turns into the leader of a lynch mob. Hate speeches, brown shirts and a mob that is completely "hannity" in their blind uneducated rage.

McCain prostituted himself to the Rovians and Bush handlers. A hero, a maverick he is not.

Please Obama, stay on the high road. You've already seen McC changing his tune. Now be the bigger man and stay focussed! You don't need any negative ads. Just be Barack Obama; listener, speaker, hard worker, ethicsl, smart, caring, empathic, husband, father, leader.

McCain, his wife and Palin are disgusting.

They have no positive things to say about their own campaign so all they can do is attack Obama on made up lies. Now Cindy McCain is crying that Obama is attacking THEM??? I think she is back on her meds!
It's no wonder that the polls are shifting in Obama's favor!

Americans are finally getting smart about not believing everything they hear. After the BUSH administration and 8 years of lying, people are able to sift through the lies and innuendos and make intelligent.

McCain will have a tough time going back to the senate after he loses the election and the Republicans lose 60 seats in the senate. He may have to retire to one of his 8 luxury homes. Poor John!!

Thats all the Republican machine has to offer. Distract and point fingers! Thats NOT what America needs now or ever. We need leadership and thats what Obama brings to the table. While I had hesitation about his experience, I realized that no one is ever 100% prepared to be President. But leadership skills are what count in the end.

McCain & Palin, lies, smears, lies, smears and more lies and more smears. They have no answers, judgement or leadership...so this is all they have left!!!

  20. depressed

I am really turned off by either party showing so much negativity to the other. It is not like political run, but rooster fights, like dog fights. It goes back and forth, never ending story. No chance of change.
Where is the decency, diplomacy? Where are the real issues?
Both sides have something not appealing. NOne is saint. None is perfect.
We do not have great choice so far. I am so disappointed.

mccain, give it up... one second you are respectful, the other you are feeding your people, manipulating them, look what you did to those people. Even you are in denial... all they do right is go around hating democrat, calling out kill him, terrorist, traitor, etc. This is how you want america to look like? With all these hateful people?

Obama has always told it like it is...he's doing it again

McCain has nothing left to offer so he's sticking to this absurd strategy of insults and attacks. He has sold his soul to the devil – talk about "blind ambition"...

He and Palin are indeed another Bush-Cheney. No way, no how...

When John McCain is shown telling that lady that Obama is not an Arab, I almost felt sorry for him. He looked sad and lost, like he does not know how he got to this ugly place he is at. You were an honorable man JM, what happened, you know you have your own junk in the trunk, you should of left it alone!!!!
