Obama ad: 'Smears are all McCain has left'

Obama released a tough new response ad Friday.

Obama released a tough new response ad Friday.

Barack Obama’s campaign released a new ad late Friday in response to a hard-hitting spot from the Republican National Committee’s independent expenditure unit that focused on his relationships with Chicago figures like William Ayers and Bill Daley; the script follows. The campaign has not announced where the spot will be airing.

NARRATOR: John McCain admits if the election’s about the economy, he’s going to lose.

Now, as Americans lose their jobs and savings, McCain’s resorting to smears and false attacks

Barack Obama launched his first campaign here (a picture of a hotel flashes on screen), not in anyone’s living room

And Bill Daley? He was confirmed as Commerce Secretary and praised for his great work by none other than John McCain (a picture of the two men together appears.)

It’s clear, with no plan to fix our economy, smears are all McCain has left.

-

(Republicans have alleged that Obama launched his first campaign in Ayers’ living room – a charge the Illinois senator has denied.)

I hope that Americans see McCain for what he stands for. When the major issue in this country is the economy and he wants to turn the page with no solutions and then turn around and just call his opponent names, setting a bad example for his supporters. John McCain is not fit to be President of the United States because all he do is divide.

McCain is simply a shell of a man he was in 2000.

    It's sad.

THIS IS CRAZY AND SHE KNEW SHE WAS GUILTY, BUT THOUGHT SHE WAS GOING TO GET AWAY WITH IT!

Smears (skidmarks) are all McCain/Palin have left. McCain has abandoned all dignity moral decorum, and Palin is an instrument of megalomania and has succeeded in lowering McCain to her wretched level. He should be relieved if he loses because he thought he was using her, but it's really the other way around.

    The really scary thing:

At a rally the Republican crowd booed *McCain* when he tried to calm them down. It loks like the inflammatory rhtoric is spiraling beyond his ability to control it.

well, it seems the only thing mccain's negative ads has done is promote hate mongering. you have rabid supporters calling sen obama a terrorist and yelling kill him. i'm only 40 but i've never seen this before. now he's trying to take it back. his followers aren't buying it.

    this ad cuts mccain's claim.

McLame should go to Alaska and kill inocent animals from helicopters with palin. Leave running the country to those with the intellect, judgement and temperment needed to do the job.

Who is surprised by how things have unraveled in the McCain campaign? If you begin your convention with messages of anger, fear, derision and division it is not a big step down to what is going on today. John you wanted the support of the "base" well now you have it. Keep on smiling as you spread your message of intolerance and outright hatred. You are despicable.

If honesty and integrity is the big issue this week, then all Obama needs to do is show a picture of Palin and McCain together. Today's headlines of the "Trooper Probe" says it all. Say it ain't so Sarah

What the Republicans don't seem to realize is that Americans are not stupid and they have memories. Bush has lied to the American public for 8 years and now that our country desperately needs a voice of a respected leader to pull us out of this upcoming depression, Bush finds that he not only has no credibility, he has NEGATIVE credibility. McCain faces the same situation. He's lied, mangled the truth, and engaged in low-road attacks so much that if he actually did run across something in Obama's life that would REALLY constitute an October Surprise, nobody would take it seriously. Same old same old.

And BTW, I guess Sarah Palin has finally proven that she has all the prerequisites to be a Republican VP. Even Cheney didn't start his abuse of power until AFTER he was elected.

Unfortunately, McCain has nothing to speak about.
The country is going down into a toilet and he's so, identified with this failing administration, that all he can do is smear and scare.
So predictable, for repugs. No fresh ideas, just OLD IDEAOLOGY, which we have seen fail throughout these past seven years.

He's old, tired, forgetful and hangs around a dimwit, who can only BARK and cause attendees in their rallies, to become scarey folks who would want to do harm to the other side.

McCain, should just go home, [but to which one?] and enjoy the time he has with his family. I think dementia is upon him.

It's really sad to me that McCain is now having to try and control his own crowds and talk them down a bit.

What is even worse is that it seems that Sarah Palin has no problem stoking the fires of hate with her speeches.

Sarah Palin seems like a terrible terrible person.
She has abused her power and she will continue to do so if we elect them into office.

Obama is scared to death that McCain is letting the world know exactly what kind of person he is. He isn't even a citizen, if he was he'd submit that vault birth certificate for ALL TO SEE. Guess he doesn't have one, so he can't produce it. Took one month to slur and slam Palin about Alaska but......it has been a whole year and the MSM hasn't mentioned a word about obama's lack of a birth certificate....Guess the constitutional crisis is coming whether he wins or not he will have to prove he is a citizen.

This add itself is a smear. McCain just made 2 good economic proposals this week. McCain is an honorable and bipartisan man, and he'll be a good commander in chief.

    Go McCain/Palin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-Sarah Palin lied about the "Bridge to nowhere"
-Sarah Palin lied about the earmarks and her mavericky way to be.
-Sarah Palin lied about the how she sold a jet on Ebay.
-Sarah Palin lied about how she fired the state comisioner "troopergate"

And McCain knew all these lies but still elected her as a VP.

Well done McCain, you are worst than Bush.

Maybe McCain should look in the mirror. Keating 5, his running mate abusing her powers as Governor and she still has another civil suit pending against her in Alaska. Someone please tell me how McCain has any judgement? There is no way he could of vetted Palin and still put her on the ticket as VP. The only reason he wasn't convicted of any charges in the Keating 5 Savings and Loan scandal was because he was a POW, his father/grandfather had the McCain Navel Base named after them and he had the money to backing him of a wealthy father-in-law and wife. Yet his talks about Obama's judgement in having been on some committee with someone who is presently a professor at a college. Give me a break.
