McCain says he'll 'whip' Obama's 'you-know-what' at debate

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/10/12/art.mccain09.gi.jpg caption="McCain predicted a win at Wednesday’s debate."](CNN) - John McCain predicted Sunday he would beat Barack Obama at the final presidential debate this week.

"After I whip his you-know-what in this debate, we're going to be going out 24/7," the Republican nominee told volunteers at his campaign headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, sparking laughter and applause from the group. McCain immediately added: "I want to emphasize again, I respect Senator Obama. We will conduct a respectful race, and we will make sure that everybody else does, too."

Outside the doors of his campaign offices, McCain is fighting to hold on to the traditionally-red state. McCain talked Sunday about the tough fight for Virginia, where Obama currently leads by four points, 49 to 45, in the state's most recent CNN poll of polls. He also pointed to battlegrounds states like Ohio - which Sarah Palin visited Sunday - and Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, and Pennsylvania.

"And I'm telling you, we're coming on and we're going to work 24/7 for the next - who's counting - 22 days," he said.

McCain acknowledged the dip in his poll numbers since the financial crisis began, but said overall trends were in his favor. "...I'd like to give you a little straight talk, we're a couple points down, ok,
nationally, but we're right in this game," he said. "The economy has hurt us a little bit in the last week or two, but in the last few days we've seen it come back up because they want experience, and they want knowledge and they want vision. And we'll give that to America, and I know that we're going to win this race."

I find funny he's making a prediction like this when he said the same thing about the Last two Debates and he lost then!

Typical of the republican fear and smear tactics. We need to get the fact out that McCain is STILL friends with G Gordon Liddy (of watergate fame) who spent time in prison and was subverting our very Constitution even way back then.

We are sick of the republican/Rove tactics – we're sick of McCain and Palin lying over and over and over.

I mute the tv or switch channels when either of them is on

John McCain is the worst. Here he is talking about how the economy hurt his poll points but how he could help improve the economy. He only cares about himself. How can anyone not see it?

I would not put anything past this hatemonger! I have feeling that McCain is going to get downright nasty at this debate and Obama better be prepared for it (I know he will be). McCain is desparate and he is like a wild cat backed into a corner. He will scratch at anything!

Oh please!!!! In your pathetic dreams McCain. You haven't whipped him so far and you won't in this debate. You are truly showing your true colors. You are a grumpy old man that can't stand Obama. Talk about race baiting.

Even if you win John, you lose. Because your Ideas stink and your leadership qualities are erratic and reactive. Your offering nothing new.

I'm sorry, but this isn't fun any more.

Senator McCain should be happy that he has the respect of Americans because of his POW status and his mostly patriotic time in the Senate. For him to continue campaigning in this manor demeans him and his family, meaning his father and grandfather. I hope his mother isn't aware of what her son is doing to the family's reputation.

Senator McCain has earned a relaxing retirement in the Arizona sun. Let's hope that America and Arizona give him this reward for service to his country.

I don't think McCain can see straight – he'll probably miss the "You know what by a mile" He lacks the intelligence to come up with a plan that will meet with any success. He probably is bringing up an old plan from Bush and is changing a couple of words. He seems to lack the vocabulary to write anything original.
    OBAMA/BIDEN all the way.

Yes, in the length of time that they have sown seeds of hate and fear, they have shown a little bit of momentum. Thanks to the media's constant reporting of things like ACORN and repeating every negative thing Palin says over and over again like it is the best news available.

Obama is winning... not with fear mongering... but with the issues! How about covering his campaign. It's as though McCain is the underdog, so we have to bolster his back side!!!

Even if McCain did win that would make him one of three. I'll take the candidate that wins the series. But If McCain doesn't win he'll be o for 3. So the stakes are pretty high for you John.

Welcome to LaLaLand Johnny. You are a hero in your own mind.
Unfortunately, you are losing that too.
Don't let the door hit you in the "you know what" on the way out.

I can't see obama shaking in his shoes at this point. Please try not to wander around the stage this time, mr mccain. It was a bit distracting last debate.
