Palin: We can't let 'leftist groups...steal this election'

(CNN) – The McCain campaign is fundraising off embattled community group ACORN.
“The truth is that far-left groups in this country will do anything to help the Obama-Biden Democrats win the White House and maintain their majorities in Congress,” Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin writes in a fund-raising e-mail sent out Monday afternoon. “And last week, we found out they're going even further to win.”
“The left-wing activist group, ACORN, is now under investigation for voter registration fraud in a number of battleground states. . . . We can't allow leftist groups like ACORN to steal this election.”
ACORN called the McCain camp’s suggestion “ridiculous.”
“We’re proud of our record of helping 1.3 million new registrants get involved in the process just as we are proud of our work to ensure clean and fair elections,” ACORN spokesperson Brian Kettenring told CNN Monday. “Candidates and parties may win or lose elections. But the assertion that anybody is trying to steal this election is ridiculous,” added Kettenring.

The community organizing group also said that in 2006, John McCain appeared at an immigration reform rally it co-sponsored in Miami. “Maybe it is out of desperation that Senator McCain has forgotten that he was for ACORN before he was against ACORN,” Bertha Lewis, ACORN’s chief organizer, said in a statement released Monday.
Last week, McCain called for an investigation into allegations ACORN is engaging in voter fraud, and his McCain campaign released a Web video linking the group to Barack Obama. Speaking about ACORN last Friday, McCain’s campaign manager Rick Davis told reporters “the only reason you pack lists of voter registration is because you want to steal votes, because you want to cheat.”

CNN recently reported about questionable voter registrations submitted by ACORN in Lake County, Indiana and about a raid of the group’s Las Vegas office by Nevada state officials conducting a voter fraud investigation.

There is a difference between voter fraud and voter registration fraud. One happens on election day and is more apparent. For those worried that someone with a Tony Romo or T.O. ID is going to show up to the polls, think again.
You notice Palin and McCain never bring up the fact, that the Republicans, G.W, Baker, Cheney and all their cronies stole the presidency from the rightfully nominated President. What about the voter fraud committed by Kathrine Harris, and Jeb of Florida? Of course to them this theft was all permissible.
So after 2 stolen elections, the CONservatives are suddenly deeply concerned about voter fraud?

If McCain wins she should be impeached before she sets foot in the white house.
I hate to sound like a whacko conspiracy theorist, but I wouldn't put it past the McCain campaign to be behind these so called fraudulent ballots. How coincincidental it is that this is happening now, when the McCain/Palin ticket is running out of ammo?

None of the bogus registrants by ACORN can vote because they will have no ID but the poor chaps hits by foreclosure can vote but will be prevented by Republicans as their address has changed.

Is there no end to what this woman will say? She has a knack for turning off voters like no one I've ever seen. I just wish that when this election is over, and she's back in Alaska, she'll watch the footage of what slime has spewed from her mouth over the last several weeks. However, I think what's worse is that she really believes the trash she's said. I was undecided until recent weeks.

Both of those states require voter registration forms to be turned in to the proper election officials. ACORN is only following the letter of the law. They are not in the position to review and discard registration forms themselves, that would be tantamount to them reviewing and discarding votes. I think the McCain campaign is once again engaging in very, very misleading rhetoric.
I guess the Repubs don't like it when the Dems start playing by the Repubs rules.
