WASHINGTON (CNN) - The third and final presidential debate is shaping up to be a make-or-break appearance for both Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama, one of the last chances to get their message out to undecided voters.
The debate, taking place at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, begins at 9 p.m. ET Wednesday and will be aired live on CNN and CNN.com.
The 90-minute face-off will undoubtedly focus on the economic crisis plaguing the country. And unlike at the other two debates, the candidates will sit at a table facing one another.
CBS News' Bob Schieffer, host of "Face the Nation," will moderate the debate and told The Associated Press on Sunday that he will be seeking more on what each will bring to the presidency.

I hope McCain gets his Christmas Present to bring Ayers into the economy.
You wish. CNN is starting to believe it's own propaganda. It has effectively turned it's blogs into an All Hail King Obama. Don't count the votes before they're hatched. American's know a salesman when they see and hear one.
McKuster's last stand – I like it and can't wait to listen to the debate.
When we look back these debates in the future, do you know what will be remembered about them? An old John McCain shuffling back and forth across the stage, trying to make one last stand for his old style dirty republican politics. McCain had his chance in 2000. He came out of that campaign as something else entirely. Couple that with economic times that are way out of his grasp (and Palin!?!?) and you have yourself a Republican defeated in 2008.
"He's got to remind us about national security. In our concern about the economy, we can't forget about the fact that we're still involved with the threat of terrorism" – Rudy Gulianai.
Is this all this guy knows. "a noub, a verb, 9/11". That's why Rudy
didn't make it out of week one during the Primary. If he aint't talking terrorism, he ain't talking. We get it Rudy, but we won't care if we are attacked if we are all on the street homeless. Geez. Go back to your lobbying.
They should give McCain the Giant Tootsie Roll booby prize from Bozo's Big Top. Remember that thing? I always wanted one.
It is so amazing that when one is backed into a corner how they would pull out all of the stops. McCain/Palin are trying to discredit Obama. It is a same that you guys to to revert to this. Cindy McCain said right before the second presidential campaign that Obama is running a dirty campaign. Wake Grandama Barbie it is your husband and Gov Palin who is running a dirty campaign.
People are hip to what you are. History is going to be made on Nov 4th 2008. What you meant for evil God is going to turn it around for Obama/Biden's GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OBAMA/BIDEN "08"
McCain needs to be figuring out what he is going to do with Barbie and her legal issues in Alaska. Alaska don't want her back since she has shame their town. McCain has a lot on his plate he needs to think about.
In your dreams you can win the debate McCain.
He'll get trounced, as he deserves. Then, perhaps, we can be done with the lying, fear mongering, disgusting ticket and their equally hideous supporters for a peaceful eight years!
Too little, too late. At this point, all he can do is try to hold on to whatever is left of his honor and reputation.
Anyone who is undecided at this point in the election is an obvious boob and will be watching a rerun of the Simpsons – not the debate.
I am not sure McCain can do anything to change the tide. If he comes across as hostile, attacking, angry, "bitter," he will loose.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Obama/Biden!!!!!!!!!
By this time next year "Living With the Palins" will be the next reality show. A format that suits her clan.
He should have asked Gen. Custer for advice, since they were both alive back during the Battle of Little Big Horn.
McCain: "Blah, Blah Blah Blah, Free Market, Deregulation, Privatize, Do what we say or else, Blah, Blah."
Obama: "McCain = Bush/Cheney 95% of the time."
OK, debate over – now you can watch the baseball game.
So now desperation brought the bigots out of the closet. What do you want from Obama? Forfeiture of his Harvard degree and his immediate placement on welfare rolls so that you can continue your stereotypical bashing? Do I smell bi-polar disorder?
To Debby "Its black and white. Vote black if you want higher taxes and white if you don't. I don't need a third debate to tell me that.":
Your ignorance is both appalling & insulting. Please, please take the advice of earlier posts & STAY HOME on Nov. 4.
"Mr Puddles, Mr Puddles, where are you Mr Puddles? Anyone seen my little dog Mr Puddles?"
Sandra: Back to school for you! Check the population census. Blacks alone cannot pull it off for Obama, and please spread the word.
Hopefully, this will be one of the last times America has to listen to a warmongering, race baiting, bigot , who has dishonored himself and his country with his campaign.
Mccain at the debate – " I am going to surge Ayers because That One is a terrorists who is responsible for all that ails this country. My surge will work and I will not stop lying until it is a success. I am a mavericky surger..."
You all get the point, utter nonsense and lies but I don't really blame him or palin, think about it what else do they have???
McCain's Fall From Grace will be televized until the brutal end. Thank God for television.
NEWS FLASH...John McCain won tomorrow night's debate, hands down...
I am ashamed at the black white comments on this post. Whoever the next president it should not be about his color!
