Palin ignores her own Pakistan remark while criticizing Obama

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/10/15/palin4.jpg caption="Gov. Palin criticized Obama's foreign policy Tuesday."]
RENO, Nevada (CNN) - Sarah Palin’s pointed criticism of Barack Obama’s foreign policy agenda Tuesday morning included a swipe at Obama’s stated commitment to strike at terrorists inside Pakistan’s borders if they are in the sights of the American military.

“Senator Obama has also advocated sending our U.S. military into Pakistan without the approval of the Pakistani government,” Palin said. “Invading the sovereign territory of a troubled partner in the war against terrorism.”

But Palin herself has advocated the same approach.

Palin told a voter at a retail stop in Philadelphia in September that the United States should “absolutely” cross the border into Pakistan to hunt terrorists, a statement that appeared to contradict John McCain's preference to negotiate with the Pakistani government first, or at the very least, to not publicly announce such a strategy.

At Tony Luke’s cheesesteaks in South Philadelphia, Temple University graduate student Michael Rovito asked the vice presidential candidate several questions about United States foreign policy towards Pakistan.

“So we do cross border, like from Afghanistan to Pakistan you think?” Rovito asked.

"If that’s what we have to do stop the terrorists from coming any further in, absolutely, we should," Palin responded, before moving on to greet other voters.

In an interview with CBS’s Katie Couric several days later, Palin re-iterated that “we will do what we have to do to secure the United States of America and her allies.”

When Couric asked John McCain, seated next to Palin in the interview, if that was “something you shouldn’t say out loud,” McCain said, “Of course not.”

Even though Palin was talking to a voter at a campaign stop organized by her campaign, both Palin and McCain dismissed the caught-on-camera exchange with Rovito as “gotcha journalism.”

This woman is the governor of our state and yes, she is the stupidest politician ever, not even as bright as George Bush. She just likes being in front of the cameras with her lips flapping and trying to shove her life and reality down every ones throat. She will lie, steal and cheat to attain what she wants, publicity and her face on the cover of the Rolling Stone, which she probably has never read either.

After the election, Palin can give the rest of us lessons on how to lie to the terminally gullible.

Other than that, I'd just as soon leave her unarmed and on foot in the middle of a herd of moose.

The Pet Rock of politics once again unselfconsciously contradicts herself. Of course, because she actually has no views, but will say whatever it takes to advance herself (she has no agenda apart from self-promotion). Like a would-be Hollywood starlet, Palin desperately seeks media face-time, using her kids as props and attention-getters. Narcissism and megalomania are her hallmarks; a reasonably educated populace would brush her off in an instant and ignore her. But Ms Pageant Runnerup is actually vying to be in line as the world's most powerful person. Absolutely frightening.

Seems like a politician of her "caliber" would have a clear strategy for foreign policy. This just makes it seem like she hasn't really thought about this stuff and that she is just going iwth what the suits ar etelling her. Not my type of leader, to be sure.

it's gotcha politics when the GOP gets asked questions by the general public but it's alright for Joe the Plumber to ask his question to Obama....eventhough Joe doesn't even make close to $250,000 and judging by his training and expertise as a plumber he will certainly not be buying his bosses company any time soon...heck Obama's 8 years of presidency will be over before Joe the plumber can afford to buy his own business....it just kills me how the GOP make Joe the Plumber look great when his question was not 100% factual in the first place...

Hey check out the Gallup Poll's World Poll. Obama is favored 4 to 1. I guess it's not only the media, late night tv, Un Pro-Americans, unreal Virginians, socialists, traitor republicans, far left wing liberals, non christians, elite, east coasters, large city folks that have a poor view of McCain and Palin (and the rest of the republican party for that matter) but now the world is against the self proclaimed mavericks. I'm very disappointed in some of our past secretary of state people who do not put US first! It's time for the Bush/Cheney evil empire to come to an end... "I voted with George Bush 90% of the time....: : John McCain
