FINDLAY, Ohio (CNN) –- In an interview posted online Wednesday, Sarah Palin told Dr. James Dobson of “Focus on the Family” that she is confident God will do “the right thing for America” on Nov. 4.
Dobson asked the vice presidential hopeful if she is concerned about John McCain’s sagging poll numbers, but Palin stressed that she was “not discouraged at all.”
“To me, it motivates us, makes us work that much harder,” she told the influential Christian leader, whose radio show reaches millions of listeners daily. “And it also strengthens my faith because I know at the end of the day putting this in God’s hands, the right thing for America will be done, at the end of the day on Nov. 4.”
Dobson praised Palin's opposition to abortion rights, to which the governor affirmed that she is “hardcore pro-life.”
She said giving birth to her son Trig, who has Down syndrome, has given her the opportunity “to be walking the walk and not just talking the talk” in her long-standing opposition to abortion.
Dobson - who has never been warm to McCain - asked Palin if her “private conversations” with the GOP nominee had revealed a true commitment to the Republican party’s pro-life platform, which calls for a constitutional amendment banning abortions.
"I do, from the bottom of my heart," Palin assured Dobson. “John McCain is solidly there on those solid planks in our platform that build the right agenda for America.”
She also thanked her supporters - including Dobson, who said he and his wife were asking “for God’s intervention” on election day - for their prayers of support.
“It is that intercession that is so needed,” she said. “And so greatly appreciated. And I can feel it too, Dr. Dobson. I can feel the power of prayer, and that strength that is provided through our prayer warriors across this nation. And I so appreciate it.”
The interview was taped on Monday by phone while Palin was campaigning in Colorado Springs, where “Focus on the Family” is headquartered.
God doesn't take sides.
Period.
It is fantastic to finally have a candidate running that actually knows what God is going to do in the near future.......
Does this airhead have any clue as to how dumb she sounds? And this 'thing' would be a heartbeat away from being the POTUS if McCain wins, you gotta be kidding me. I refuse to believe that the american voter is dumb enough to fall for this crap.
This woman gets scarier every day. God is not a democrat or a Republican. Since when does God side with a particular party? Please, Sarah, just go home.
I doubt that any of us will see a more terrifying creature on Halloween night than this woman. I swear to you, she talks and chills run up my spine. And just when you think she can't say anything more stupid than her previous stupid statements, she proves you wrong. On November 5th I want to see the entire Palin tribe getting smaller, and smaller, and smaller, as they limp back to Alaska in crushing defeat.
One of the troubles with with Palin is if God forbid she is elected as V.P she is suppose to be the V.P. FOR ALL THE PEOPLE. So when she talks about he r own personal beliefs its pretty scary..
Here, here "Global Groove"! Llets take Dobson's (and all the other politicians speaking form the pulpit) tax exempt status away, that is the way to restore the seperation between church and state...she is really scary, so does this mean if the conservatives are really successful in their voter suppression tactics and if the election is once again stolen from the American people, that her "God's work" has been done? How is she so sure what God wants anyway? Very scary I'm going with Obama/Biden!!
Be careful what you wish for when you invoke the almighty, ye policitally aspiring governor from a most insignificant state. Besides, the republican party would likely challenge his voter registration because of address verification concerns.
I hope so b/c I'm praying hard for Obama! And for our country once this election is over, we have become so divided its going to take a tremendous effort to bring us back together.
God doesn't have a gun rack on the back of his pickup truck. Stop trying to hijack a postive religion and please stop trying to redefine other peoples spirituality.
Sarah is SCARY...God gave us free will..to do the right thing. The right thing is to send you back to ALASKA..set the "end of time" and your THIRD WAVE philosophy back a little...
BREAKING NEWS – God just voted (early balloting) and it's not good news for Sarah.
I think I just lost my breakfast.
Yes God Will!
And God IS on Obama's side.
You're kidding, right???? Once again Sarah Palin has demonstrated her lack of knowledge. God is not the one who will be voting on election day. It is the people of the UNITED States of America. And, if we all do the right thing, we may find the country can be healed from the evangelical nonsense that seeks to split this country in two. The right wing Republicans espouse religion, yet they are the most intolerant, self-serving individuals who live in this country. If they have their way, we will soon look like many countries in the middle east where there is no freedom, religious or otherwise.
I find it interesting that Mit Romney, who is a Mormon and we know Evangelicals dislike Mormons, doesn't do any name calling like Palin, McCain, and the die hard Republican base that are made up of so-called Christians. Religion doens't have a place in polictics. When it does it clouds your decisions. You should do what is best for the country based on facts and figures...never on what you think God would be most pleased with. Republicians are supposedly more for leaving the constitution as the founding fathers wrote it. But the die hard base Republicans that are Evangelicals, the base that seems to drive every decision in McCain's campaign, wants to amend the constitution on gay marriage and abortion. It boggles the mind. If the Republicans want a future they need to quit pleasing the Evangelicals at every turn.
God will do the right thing and not allow Palin to be Vice President of the United States. Gov. Palin must know God knows all and sees all and lying is not the way to salvation or the White House.
Sarah Palin doesn't realise that God has already spoken. He has show the American people all the lies and smears that u have been using in this campaign. There was a 50-1 chance of Senator Obama beating Hillary Clinton. He did. There was a 50-1 chance of Senator Obama beating McCain he is leading in all category. In order for that to become even more possible He spoke with the Crash of Wall Street. That is how God speaks Sarah.
Obama/Biden '08
jesus perfomed a miracle with 5 bread and 2 fishes and he spread the food out to 5000 people..those who had food and those who didn't, wow wat a socialist? Obama/Biden 2008
This one of many last straws in terms of Palin. She will, if given the chance due to an unhealthy McCain, try and turn this country into a theocracy. She has more in common with Iran with all her "god warrior/prayer warrior" nonsense. She knows not what a rational mind is – if she did, she would not try to blur the lines between church and state. AND JOHN MCCAIN HAS JUMPED ON BOARD THE MUMBO JUMBO TRAIN and is sitting back in the smoking car of this off the tracks "god will do the right thing" juggernaut. Any rational republican has to see the folly in her vice presidency and vote anything but republican in this election. I would rather abandon the party than be complicit in this possibility.
Between letting people yell about wanting to kill Obama and declaring that God will intervene for them, it sounds like the "pro-American", "country first" Republicans are starting to really dislike this whole democratic election thing. Geez, whoever thought of this silly idea of letting the people choose their leaders?
There is hardly any difference between Palin's views and the radical 'jihaad' muslims in the middle east. They are fighting their so-called religious war and looks like she is too, in this election.
I didn't know God was registered to vote.
I can't believe this isn't making bigger news. Sarah Palin just said that God is pulling for the Republican ticket. Whatever happened to separation of church and state? Talk about blasphemy! Disgusting.
This is very disturbing....We need to do what is right for the country.
FYI: There has been purging of votes, this was shown on Keith Olberman on MSNBC. Groups like YPM (Young Progressive Majority, held by the Republicans) and Republican Campaign Officials in CA and AZ. We need to be aware and please make sure all the votes are counted in each and every state. This is crucial...
Great – if God "selects" Obama on election day Mrs Palin would have no objections and would blame no one but accept it as devine will. That to me is great for her to say and I hope she will respect this position post 11/4.
