Palin: God will do the right thing on election day

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/10/22/art.palin.10.9.jpg caption="Gov. Palin told James Dobson that God will do 'the right thing' on election day."]
FINDLAY, Ohio (CNN) –- In an interview posted online Wednesday, Sarah Palin told Dr. James Dobson of “Focus on the Family” that she is confident God will do “the right thing for America” on Nov. 4.

Dobson asked the vice presidential hopeful if she is concerned about John McCain’s sagging poll numbers, but Palin stressed that she was “not discouraged at all.”

“To me, it motivates us, makes us work that much harder,” she told the influential Christian leader, whose radio show reaches millions of listeners daily. “And it also strengthens my faith because I know at the end of the day putting this in God’s hands, the right thing for America will be done, at the end of the day on Nov. 4.”

Dobson praised Palin's opposition to abortion rights, to which the governor affirmed that she is “hardcore pro-life.”

She said giving birth to her son Trig, who has Down syndrome, has given her the opportunity “to be walking the walk and not just talking the talk” in her long-standing opposition to abortion.

Dobson - who has never been warm to McCain - asked Palin if her “private conversations” with the GOP nominee had revealed a true commitment to the Republican party’s pro-life platform, which calls for a constitutional amendment banning abortions.

"I do, from the bottom of my heart," Palin assured Dobson. “John McCain is solidly there on those solid planks in our platform that build the right agenda for America.”

She also thanked her supporters - including Dobson, who said he and his wife were asking “for God’s intervention” on election day - for their prayers of support.

“It is that intercession that is so needed,” she said. “And so greatly appreciated. And I can feel it too, Dr. Dobson. I can feel the power of prayer, and that strength that is provided through our prayer warriors across this nation. And I so appreciate it.”

The interview was taped on Monday by phone while Palin was campaigning in Colorado Springs, where “Focus on the Family” is headquartered.

The best lines from W are Bob Dylan's singing Masters of War which has the refrain about God being on their side. Too often Onward Christian Soldiers meant going out to kill others in the name of God. Dobson's choice should not be America's choice. She just showed on TV that she doesn't understand the nature of the Vice President's job and this whole charade shows she has never read the test about there being no religious test for holding public office.

I just talked to God and He says that He's going to let the voters decide this election.

    Go OBAMA-BIDEN.

This lady is a religious nut ball with below average intelligence. It is scary how many people actually want her in the white house. What a diasaster that would be. Luckily, it is looking good for Obama.

This is a democracy - God has no part in our government. If she wants to live in a theocracy, she should move to the Middle East.

If McCain doesn't win the election, will she still say that God did the right thing on Nov. 4th? Just a thought.
If she's "letting go and letting God," and Obama wins the election, then obviously God did the right thing by putting Obama in power, so would she say that God did the wrong thing only because SHE didn't win?

By the way: if Obama wins does that mean that God is not a 'real American' or not 'pro-american'? That would be a real shocker for you hey Palin?

I think what scares me the most is that this nation was built with christian morals and values...they have all but left the building.
We have become such a greedy nation...You may call yourself a christian but from what I have read in this blog...I highly doubt any of you are. I have read my bible and I can promise you this Jesus said when he returns every knee shall bow:) I will be praying for your souls.
On another note to my fellow christians we do not always understand why things happen..but trust in Jesus Revelations tells us of all that is happening now:)

Your right GOD will do the right thing on election day and put Barack Obama in the White House. I'm tired of you using Christianity to further your carrier. You should be ashamed of your self. You are not a true Christian.

I hope God will do the right thing: Vote for Barak Obama and Joe Biden and give the Democrats a 60-seat majority in the Senate.

This is such a turn off, shame on you John McCain for putting your campaign before this country. May god bless Obama with a landslide win come November 5th.

To the undecided voters: look at how each candidate is running their campaign and that will indicative of how they will run this country.

  14. McCain Invented the BlackBerry, Palin Invented the Manure Spreader

Have to agree with many other posters.

Sarah Palin is not only killing McCain's campaign, she's killing the Republican Party (though they've done themselves no favors in recent years).

She's ensuring that she not only ruins GOP chances in this election, but in 2012 as well, when she divides the party in half in the primary and blows it up in the general election.

The new Democratic majority is rising.

God will do the right thing but will you Sara..Palin charged the state for her children to travel with her, including to events where they were not invited, and she later amended expense reports to specify that they were on official business.”
The Republican National Committee appears to have spent more than $150,000 to clothe and accessorize vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and her family since her surprise pick by John McCain in late August. I guess so much for the hockey mom and wal mart mom hummmm Sara.

While not overtly religious myself, I find it absolutely disgusting that libs are so intent on insulting and criticizing people of faith. Are you kidding? What is wrong with someone who not only has but shares a powerful faith, regardless of what faith that is? For a group of society that screams for diversity, it's sad. Apparently religion doesn't fall under their definition of diversity.

Jesus talked repeatedly about "spreading the wealth"… so it's pretty clear who's going to win on Nov. 4th.

  19. Catholic 4 Hillary & Obama

I'm a long life practicing Catholic. I believe in God and in His message. AND, I also believe God does not hate anyone because of their political affiliation. But ALL OF US can surely disappoint him from time to time. Like we are right now. I doubt he's "pleased" with the behavior ALL of us are demonstrating. Lady, quit using God to push your agenda, and language to instill fear and shame!

    Sarah,

God only shows up to your Pro-American parts of the country. 80% of voters are in the Anti-American parts. Sucks to be you!!!!

God listens to the prayers of both Democrats and Republicans Sarah. The Republican devisiveness in this election terrifies me. Every time I hear something negative or devisive from the McCain campaign I send an additional contribution to the Obama campaign. No wonder Obama's fund raising is going so well. I guess I'm not alone in reponding this way.

  23. Average Jane

Yes, we NEED another WACKO religious NUT telling all of America what to do!!! Is GOD going to vote? Perhaps we should just cancel the election and let GOD put a president in the WH.

Palin was the single WORSE decision Mccain let the GOP make. He would have been FAR better of standing on his OWN and choosing a moderate republican for his running mate.

GOP best give up pandering to the far right and get back to putting qualified people in office. Let the churches handle the religion!!

I am a "real" christian, (feed the poor, visit the sick, help the widows and orphans, (Jesus' own words)and I can see what is happening again with the fake christians trying to intimidate people. My pastor received a FAX Sunday morn., before church telling him to get in the pulpit and denounce Obama as evil. The same day I saw on TV another pastor trying to pray to God to "protect His reputation" by letting McCain win, and NOW we have Palin throwing the red meat. Didn't they learn ANYTHING from the faux christian G.W.? God have mercy on people that are so gullible.

The Almighty had nothing to do with the fact that Palin bills the Alaskan taxpayers for living in her own home, bills everybody everywhere for shlepping her kids to official events, and bills the RNC for her family's wardrobe.

How ironic that Republicans now find themselves shelling out for their own welfare queen!
