Palin: God will do the right thing on election day

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/10/22/art.palin.10.9.jpg caption="Gov. Palin told James Dobson that God will do 'the right thing' on election day."]
FINDLAY, Ohio (CNN) –- In an interview posted online Wednesday, Sarah Palin told Dr. James Dobson of “Focus on the Family” that she is confident God will do “the right thing for America” on Nov. 4.

Dobson asked the vice presidential hopeful if she is concerned about John McCain’s sagging poll numbers, but Palin stressed that she was “not discouraged at all.”

“To me, it motivates us, makes us work that much harder,” she told the influential Christian leader, whose radio show reaches millions of listeners daily. “And it also strengthens my faith because I know at the end of the day putting this in God’s hands, the right thing for America will be done, at the end of the day on Nov. 4.”

Dobson praised Palin's opposition to abortion rights, to which the governor affirmed that she is “hardcore pro-life.”

She said giving birth to her son Trig, who has Down syndrome, has given her the opportunity “to be walking the walk and not just talking the talk” in her long-standing opposition to abortion.

Dobson - who has never been warm to McCain - asked Palin if her “private conversations” with the GOP nominee had revealed a true commitment to the Republican party’s pro-life platform, which calls for a constitutional amendment banning abortions.

"I do, from the bottom of my heart," Palin assured Dobson. “John McCain is solidly there on those solid planks in our platform that build the right agenda for America.”

She also thanked her supporters - including Dobson, who said he and his wife were asking “for God’s intervention” on election day - for their prayers of support.

“It is that intercession that is so needed,” she said. “And so greatly appreciated. And I can feel it too, Dr. Dobson. I can feel the power of prayer, and that strength that is provided through our prayer warriors across this nation. And I so appreciate it.”

The interview was taped on Monday by phone while Palin was campaigning in Colorado Springs, where “Focus on the Family” is headquartered.

Yep, He certainly will "do the right thing on Nov. 4" and on Nov 5th Sen. Obama will be President Elect Obama, and Gov Palin will be back in Alaska eating moose burgers.

Seriously what an asinie statement for her to have made. Gov Palin just got done apologizing for her statements that insinuated that there are parts of this country that are more patriotic than others. That some parts of this country are even anti-American. Now with these statements she is implying that "God wants the Republicans to win." What then when McCain loses? What does that say about God's will?

This woman's religious zealotry has no place in our country much less our government. The politics of vilifying people by suggesting that those that don't agree with you are un-American and now not on God's side has got to stop. It is this politics of division and ad hominem attacks that have led to the mess that we are in.

God knows a good candidate when He sees one. That is why his light is shinning on President Obama as we speak.

I, too, am confident that God will do the right thing on Nov. 4, and guide Barack Obama and Joe Biden into a swift, resounding victory!!!

Honestly, why do Republicans act like they have a monopoly on God? It's disgusting.

    Obama/Biden '08!!!

I am glad to hear that Gov. Sarah Palin is talking with Dr Dobson. I believe in the power of prayer and in the end it's in god's hands.

Right you are Sarah, and so is Yahoo News.
AP: ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Gov. Sarah Palin charged the state for her children to travel with her, including to events where they were not invited, and later amended expense reports to specify that they were on official business.

God will do the right thing on election day. He/She will stay out of politics and let people practice faith according to their own system of beliefs. As great as America is, I think God will be able to find other things to do Nov. 4 there seems to be a lot of suffering in the world.

News flash: This country was NOT founded on Christianity. That is a fallacy that continues to be perpetrated by ignorant wingnuts such as Palin. Keep your religion and laws out of my home and my body.

Are you serious? hahahahahaha. Whatever happened to the seperation of church and state.

This lady believes that god is for the Republicans. Palin is dangerous! we must not be brainwashed. She is an act put together by the republicans. We must not ever put her in charge of this country.

Mcclame will be the oldest president over to be elected into his first term. He will not make it eight years, or even 4. We must fight against her.

By the way. Would jesus own a gun?

Sarah, Republican does not equal Christian. There are plenty of Democrats who are Christians, and they are praying just as hard for Obama. Their Christianity is not less important or valid than yours.

Maybe if you started acting like a true Christian and stopped spreading hate, the American people wouldn't be as disgusted with you as they are today

God has nothing to do with it!!! God gave us all FREE WILL so that WE can decide our own destinies. Leave god out of it.

All this "My God vs Your God" crap needs to stay out of politics. There is a reason the founding fathers included the separation of church and state as a key principle of the Constitution.

This woman is despicable.... so apparently god votes Republican and sides with Republican issues? That sure explains the economic mess we're in because of the imbecilic Bush. That sure explains the tens of thousands of people who have been killed in the Bush War in Iraq, which Palin has called "god's mission."

So did god tell Palin to alter state forms in an attempt to legalize her kids travel on state money?

This woman is a delusional moron.

Throughout history, those who have invoked their cause as God's cause walked a very dangerous line. Palin, this comment is just like the Pro-American parts of the country. If you're for McCain Palin, you're pro-American. Does this comment mean that if you're for McCain Palin, you're on God's side. I'm struck by the implication for those that are not supporting the GOP ticket. I wish Palin would stop trying to use the imply that those that see her as unqualified to be President are unpatriotic or not on God's side. This comment is really another stunner by Palin.

Signed – A church going, patriotic Republican supporting Obama!!!!!!

Please go back to Alaska. You will soon once again become the problem of the state which you govern. Please just go back and play heroine to all your prayer warriors. We, the people of the United States of America, will not recognize what you claim to be in the eyes of G-d, but instead what you are in the eyes of the citizens of this nation, not congregation... Learn the difference you pawn. Your reign of faith-based mediocrity will NEVER begin. We promise you that.

Why is CNN not covering the fact that this women stole money from taxpayers so her children could go on business trips. This is highly illegal (fraud) and if the people of this country vote her into office, they are voting for a proven crook. She will take your money and pay for a facial probably.

Can she feel the power of prayer the same as she could feel the evil spirits/witches being removed when she was in front of the church getting hands laid on her?

I am glad she believes in God...she'll need him to help her through the horrible LOSS she and McCain will suffer on Nov. 4....
