Palin changes tune on 'feminist' label

In an interview on NBC Nightly News that aired Thursday, host Brian Williams asked Palin: "Governor, are you a feminist?"
"I'm not gonna label myself anything, Brian," she responded. "And I think that's what annoys a lot of Americans, especially in a political campaign, is to start trying to label different parts of America different, different backgrounds, different … I'm not going to put a label on myself. "
The vice presidential nominee said she believes in women's rights and equal rights. Palin went on to say that when she was growing up in Alaska, she "was expected to do the same thing that the guys were doing."
"I'm not going label myself feminist or not," she concluded, "but I do believe that American women can recognize in me an advocate and a friend. And I want to be in the White House for them."
But Palin gave a different answer in September when Katie Couric of CBS News asked her, "Do you consider yourself a feminist?"
"I do," Palin answered. "I'm a feminist who believes in equal rights and I believe that women certainly today have every opportunity that a man has to succeed, and to try to do it all, anyway."
In that sit-down, Palin told Couric she defines a feminist as "someone who believes in equal rights. Someone who would not stand for oppression against women."

I been listening to Sarah Palin and I was shocked. She is full of negativity and hatred and than what she did with the cop. Now if anyone within the right mind will listen to her and examined her act of firing the cop would make sense. It shows that how much hate she has when things doesn’t go her way. On top of it when I listen to news or read different website, it is always how she wants to run the campaign and how they are forcing McCain to do the thing their way. Is she running for the president? Is she running this campaign? Do we want to give her authority to our Nuclear Weapons so she can nuke rest of the world if things don’t go her way? I can see another Dick Chanie.
She is really scary in that same interview with Brian Williams he asked her if she thought if someone bombed an abortion clinic would it be an act of domestic terroist? She said Ayers bombed innocent people and when asked again if bombing an abortion clinic was domestic terroist. She said it wasn't a terroist act. I guess she feels that people at the abortion clinic aren't innocent people.
How is she a "typical" American? I'm sorry, but the typical American woman right now does not have 150K to spend on her wardrobe. She's too busy trying to make her mortage payment (if her house hasn't been foreclosed already), put food on the table, gas in her car, and afford college for her kids.
And a master's degree doesn't = intelligence. Bush went to Yale, look at him. 'Nuff said.
Ha.. someone just called Palin intelligent in a comment. I find that funny. Intelligent people know when they are not ready to have the most powerful job in the United States. I say this with all seriousness, Palin is a joke. She abused her power as Governor, she used her power to get her children free trips and for them to stay at fancy hotels. She is just like a washington insider but is far enough away that it seems so "quaint." Im a way I hope she does run later on, because she will be very easy to beat!
Palin a feminist?!! She's a small minded, uninformed woman of average intelligence who didn't even read the constitution and what it states about the role of the vice presidency. She certainly doesn't represent American women by wanting to take their right to choose away. I can't wait for AK to take her back & hopefully she'll fade into obscurity.
Just another foot in her mouth interview. She really needs to watch prior interviews of herself to make sure she is giving the same answers. This is a chronic issue with her. McCain claimed that Obama just tells the voters what they want to hear. Palin is the leader on that.. or maybe she's just a dimwit. She has really been an anchor for McCain and he claims she's the best VP he's seen in many years. Maybe his eyesight is going as well. I can't even listen to her anymore. I find myself running for the remote everytime CNN covers another one of her campaign speaches. Getting to be the same way with McCain. If I here 'Joe The Plumber' One more time. It's like watching the same commercial all day long.

All women should be proud of the Palin/MacCain ticket. When in the history of our country we had a woman fit, gutsy, smart and dressing well running for the vice presidency of our nation? Wake up ladies we now have an opportunity to understand our role in history and she is being lead by one of our hero soldiers.

What if there is an elitist group hiding themselves within the Democrats, whose goal is to attain a power over the proletariat (just like it worked for a while in the USSR), and to accomplish that goal they must stifle the economy (we can do that with higher corporation taxes), limit the size of the proletariat (we can increase abortion, birth control for the poor), negate the influence of religion (dispute the right of clergy to voice their views), while appeasing the proletariat by spreading the wealth (communism).

I can see why she doesn't want to call herself a feminist. She'd look like tje huge liar she is because everyone knows she has never done anything to help women in her life. Charging for rape kits?? This woman lies all the time in front of her children. She's horrible. She's a bad role model for little girls. I know children who know more about what the VP does than she does. I am from Pittsburgh and I am very up set that the McCain volunter is claiming a black man attached her with a knife and a prodomiary white area of Pittsburgh. This woman is lieing to try to start a race war in my home town. I can not wait until the police look over the video from the ATM and find out this lady is lieing for McCain so they can still Pennslyvania, but I got new for the McCain camp. They will not win in my state botton line. Please the McCain camp leave my State and City please. I would for the County government and we working very very hard to make sure that this state say democrated. If they knew any thing about Pittsburgh, they would know most black men in this city carry guns and fighting against each other.

Well I thought she liked labels. Last week she called me anti-American because I don't live in a small town. And her running mates brother called me a communist because I live in Northern Virginia. And she's calling the democratic presidential candidate a socialist every day. It seems to me that Mrs. Palin can be labeled as a LIAR!!!
Palin labels everyone and everything in her life and her surroundings, but she doesn't want to label herself. Why? Because that would pin her down to being one-faced, and if she did that, she'd be caught in her own web.
As a Republican, the whole ticket sickens me. The shrinking McCain Reps want so badly to find something wrong with Obama that they have to reach into the myth bag and spread it around. But it's not the truth and many of us are so totally turned off by this behavior that we're willing to vote for Obama just to get rid of these fear mongering Reps. Obama is on the right side of history and will change this country and the world, for the better. Socialist, he is not. BTW, Canada has universal health care, with a capitalist economy and they've had budgetary surpluses for the past 10 years, while fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan. Republicans are trying to protect their corporate friends, the insurance companies, defense contractors and Haliburton (Dick Cheney's company)...or don't you recall the billions in untendered contracts.
