(CNN) - As Election Day inches closer, Barack Obama continues to hold a significant lead over John McCain, according to CNN's average of several recent polls.

The Illinois senator now holds an 8-point lead over McCain in the latest CNN poll of polls, 50 percent to 42 percent. That lead is 1 point lager than it was in Wednesday's poll of polls.

The national general election poll of polls consists of four recent surveys: Fox/Opinion Dynamics (October 20-21), Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby (October 20-22), Gallup (October 20-22) and Diageo/Hotline (October 20-22). The Poll of Polls does not have a sampling error.

I live in a small city in Maine and all I see are McCain?Palin signs everywhere. Maybe one or two Obama. Of course the CNN polls will show Obama ahead – they poll more Dems than Repubs. It is not an accurate poll.

  2. No Thanks

Elizabeth Hagglehoff can talk until she's red in the face, but I will never ever vote for McCain. So she can join Sarah Failin if she wants to, it doesn't matter. They will both fall flat on their uninformed faces.

The View thinks she's all that and a bag of chips, but Elizabeth is nothing but a bag of hot air.

The Bradley effect was a small airplane that landed on a main freeway right before rush our traffic on election day in Los Angeles, causing a traffic nightmare and costing Bradley thousands of votes. Look it up.

Yesterday on CSpan2 a caller wanted to know why no one is talking about Sentor McCain writing a six paige letter to Russia asking for $5,000 campaign money to help defeat Sentor Obama to help freedom and democracy all over the world. Did Sentor McCain write a letter to Russia? If so then who is the real communist?

  8. Blue Tide Is Coming

The blue tide of America will sweep the country on November 4th. I hope McCain stays awake long enough to call Barack and concede because the party is OVER.

Oh heck, just concede when you wake up on Tuesday morning, or it will be a very long day.

I am sooo sick of hearing Barack Obama doesn't have a birth certificate, I went and looked it up, its all over the internet. Also am very tired of being told he is a muslim. McCain and Palin have no real plans, they have been to busy being nasty to develop a plan, at least not one that makes any sense to me. I am tired of corporate give aways and tax breaks for the rich. Time for a change. Lets do it.

Its funny how when the polls are not in favor of your candiatiate they are somehow crap and the opposite when your person is ahead. America wont be fooled this time by all the negative and false ads and lies by Bush/ McSame. Not this time.

This is such good news! But I won't stop being scared until Barack is elected. Please, any of you moderate Republicans out there, you've got to read "Make-Believe Maverick" in recent Rolling Stone.

Those who vote determine nothing. Those who count the vote determine everything. Who/what are the counters? What's their poll say?

Sen John McCain needs to come back to Arizona and chill out. Obama has most of the early votes which means he has more people excited and ready to vote for him. I know am voting for him even though here in AZ it wouldn't matter much, but he has my vote.

Don't believe these polls, election night will be a nail biter. Obama will NOT win by a landslide, he will squeak by or alternatively it will be too close to call and McCain will cry foul due to ACORN and then whose the hanging chad then and we will have eight more weeks of uncertainty and the market will tank!

Don't trust polls, they're often wrong. Polls said Kerry would win in 2004.

You can't say how an entire country will vote based on a tiny sample. It's simply impossible.

A lot of people might be very surprised at the actual results.

I bet Obama takes NC and GA. There is no way McSame can win if he does not get atleast 270 electoral votes. He is still almost 100 down. Obama already has enough to win.
