BREAKING: Stevens guilty on all counts

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/10/27/art.stevens.ap.jpg caption="Stevens has been found guilty on all counts."]WASHINGTON (CNN) - A jury Monday found U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens of Alaska guilty on all seven counts of making false statements on Senate disclosure forms.

Stevens had been charged with failing to disclose hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of gifts and work on his house in Alaska.

The 84-year-old senator is locked in a tight race for re-election, hoping to retain the seat he has held since 1968.

Sentencing is set for January 26.

The difference between a Republican crook and a Democratic crook: Republicans get convicted and/or leave office. Democrats take over as committee chairs. Why is William Jefferson still in Congress and his idiot constituents in New Orleans likely to re-elect him?

I'm glad people like Stevens are getting cleaned out of office even if the Dems temporarily take the seat back. Between corruption and spending, the Republicans have lost their way in Congress. They can't outspend or out-criminalize Democrats and they look like idiots for trying.

Clean out the bad ones and open the place up for good ones after the Dems overreach with their socialist agenda under Pelosi & Reid.

Looks like Palin, isn't the only one in Alaska that had hidden agenda's in her own back yard in Alaska. Wonder if she will go back to Alaska and apply for his Job. NO she has her sites set on the White house. I wonder how the Election would turn out if Hillary would run in 2012. Look out for that one. It will be one big Cat fight. WOW. Palin is really dividing her party the way she's doing. I can just see what 2012 would be like. I was going to vote for that party, but they are so unstable, I'm voting for Obama NOV 4

    Another one bites the dust...

Hm-m-m, any gifts go into the building of Palin's house? Wasn't it built around the time of the contract for the expensive ice rink in Wasilla?

Sarah Palin claimed per diem for sleeping in her house. She claimed money for travelling with her children. She abused her power. She's next, no doubt!

President Obama will take them out in less than 6 months in office...they dont need to attack us they got to pay for 911 on Bush/McCain policies WATCH. They didnt attack Pres. Clinton cos they know better. Same goes for Obama.. He his attacking first just wait and see...not focus on lies and FAKE WMD in Iraq

Thank God the era of republican corruption is coming to an end. No more shock doctrine, where republicans exploit every crisis by enriching themselves and their cronies at the expense of the expendable poor (Does the government reaction to 9/11 and the recent financial crisis ring a bell?).

A sad state of affairs. A real shame that a man with such a long running and well respected career can be corrupted. I don't doubt the verdict but sure feel sad for this man and his family. I hope this is a lesson well learned by our representatives, it is important to do the work of the people and not be bought.

Palin's next in line for under-the-table involvement by Veco and others in the construction of her house in Wasilla, which was finished just about two months prior to the time contracts on the Wasilla Sports complex were awarded.

Abusing the public trust in Troopergate would be small potatoes, if she were to get caught taking a house as a kickback.

Good. It seems that no one is above the law. This will also makes to be the precedence on what will be coming out once FED is done investigating the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac issue, the no.1 culprit of this economic downturn.

It doesn't matter who will be the sitting President come January 20, 2009. What really matters is that some people in Congress needs to go such as Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, Chris Dodd and Reid. I just hope that Dodd will be investigated with the Countrywide favors he had received.
