BREAKING: Stevens guilty on all counts

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/10/27/art.stevens.ap.jpg caption="Stevens has been found guilty on all counts."]WASHINGTON (CNN) - A jury Monday found U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens of Alaska guilty on all seven counts of making false statements on Senate disclosure forms.

Stevens had been charged with failing to disclose hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of gifts and work on his house in Alaska.

The 84-year-old senator is locked in a tight race for re-election, hoping to retain the seat he has held since 1968.

Sentencing is set for January 26.

Sarah's lying friend....see ya later! His lies were just as dumb sounding as Sarah's.
"Uh, yes that chair was a gift. I didn't want it but I let him put it in my house. But because I didn't want it it's not really a gift even though it's in my house!"

LIE! Don't worry, you won't be lonely Stevens, Sarah will be back next week!

If all the information published was accurate, the "guilty" verdict is correct. Unfortunately, our political system is so haywire that this corrupt, unrepentant politician will probably get re-elected!

holding my breath--Please! Even your outrage looks fake. Maybe you should read for yourself instead of the spliced up tape that the Republicans put out. Maybe you should not listen to Rush or Drudge for anything remotely truthful. What Obama said was about changing occurring from the bottom up by organized coalition, rather than by court action. He was taking a more CONSERVATIVE view as to the role of the Court in these matters. There is nothing to this as there has been with everything the Republicans put out.

Al Qaeda--your comments are just offensive.

Sad little Obama supporters – desperate and scared now that Nov 4 is almost here.

I voted early for McCain/Palin – along with MANY others.

    GoBack Obama will lose.

We need to keep enough Republicans in the Senate to prevent a fillibuster proof majority but we don't need corrupt politicians so I think Sen Stevens deserves to lose his seat. However, only the voters in Alaska can decide who they want their representative to be. Make sure it's a wise choice and vote!

Another one of the Conservative Republican scum that voted to either impeach (House) or convict (Senate) Clinton for lying about sex. He can join his other cohorts in being the biggest moral hypocrites ever.

Druid Hippies For Obama – You are an idiot. Keep parroting those same tired worn out, debunked bullet points. You and your ilk are doing more to energize Obama's base than anyone (outside of McCains campaign).

the republican party is going down in flames, and still conservatives lash out at "liberals, elitest, and marxist."

STORIES INVOLVING INFIGHTING BETWEEN MCCAIN ADVISERS AND 'CARIBOU BARBIE' – GOING "ROGUE" AS ONE SENIOR MCCAIN ADVISER PUT IT – ARE HARDLY THE TYPE OF PRESS THE MCCAIN TRAIN DESIRES IN THE FINAL WEEK.
ADDITIONALLY, SEN. MCCAIN SAYING JUST YESTERDAY THAT HIS POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC IDEOLOGY WAS ALIGNED TO G.W. BUSH'S ON "MEET THE PRESS" VOIDS HIS ARGUMENT THAT HE IS AN AGENT OF CHANGE.
AND TO TOP IT OFF, NOW THE SEN. STEVENS VERDICT . . . YIKES!

newsflash, conservatives – get your party in order and then maybe, just maybe, you'll have a shot at a comeback.

Before all you kool-aid drinking democratic deadbeats pound your chest over Stevens conviction take a look at your own back yard. The lawn chair known as Charlie Rangel is the leader of the corrupt dems. Then we go over to Florida and I cannot remember the guys name but he has had numerous affairs, etc...

For all the idiots out there screaming "socialist" or "marxist" due to the "redistribution of wealth" comments...please take a deep breath and think about this.

1.) We pay taxes...that is a fact and it is not going to change
2.) When you pay your taxes they will be distributed to many different areas, i.e. roads, bridges, school systems, military...etc.
3.) Different people will benefit from your tax dollars even if you don't. I pay taxes where I live, but the distribution of those funds will surely go to support an illegal war. That is Bush's and McCain's "redistribution of wealth".

    Therefore, all politicians are socialists.

    Simple enough for you.

At this point John McCain has got to think someone is playing a really freakin cruel joke on him!!! But I wouldn't get too excited.....You know how George W loves to help out his friends in need by throwing out the "pardon card" to white collar criminals, while possibly innocent people ( or at least a hell of a lot of reasonable doubt) won't get a guy on death row more than a "stay of execution".

Maybe they should check out Dodd. If he's telling the truth that he didn't know a 4.5% jumbo mortgage wwith no closing costs was a favorable deal, at minimum, he's way too stupid to be chair of the Banking Committee. Let's put him under oath to be sure. In the meantime Dodd, thanks for stonewalling any attempts to fix/reform Freddie and Fannie before they went belly up. You're as responsible as any individual for our current mess.

    Cindy Carlyle–New York,

    What are you talking about?

Ferraro lost because she was running with Walter Mondale, Jimmy Carter's VP against a hugely popular Roanald Reagan.

Clinton lost because she was trumped in the "historic" contest, by someone with a better story and a better organised campaign.

Palin will lose because she's awful.

Fortunately, most women don't vote simply based on shared gender.

Not really surprise. The GOP has failed it's own party, and the nation.
If you support any GOP canidate then you must have a GED education or no education at all.
