Palin calls for Stevens to resign

Ted Stevens should resign his Senate seat, in a statement released hours after John McCain made a similar declaration.
The comments come a day after Palin would not say what she thought the best course of action for the recently convicted senator should be.
"After being found guilty on seven felony counts, I had hoped Senator Stevens would take the opportunity to do the statesman-like thing and erase the cloud that is covering his Senate seat," she said in the statement. "He has not done so. Alaskans are grateful for his decades of public service but the time has come for him to step aside. Even if elected on Tuesday, Senator Stevens should step aside to allow a special election to give Alaskans a real choice of who will serve them in Congress."

She should have said that when he was first indicted. If she is really this firebrand against corruption even in her own party, then she should have requested this from day one. I don't think that she is up to cleaning house as much as she claims to be.

What the hecks going on up in Alaska?? You have Governor Palin found guilty of violating state ethics laws, abusing her power and staining the Governors office. If Stevens should step down for failing to report gifts, shouldn't Palin step down for abusing her office to pursue a matter of personal revenge, and shouldn't McCain have stepped down for his involvement in the Keating 5?

My guess is "yes" and I also think that if, by some miracle or the stupidity of the people of Alaska, he wins, Gov. Palin will nominate Sarah Palin for the Senate seat.

She's nothing but McCain's puppet. Yesterday, she says nothing about Stevens resigning, probably because he's helped her lobby Washington for her projects in Alaska. Now that McCain calls on him to resign, Palin chimes in with a "yeah, me too!"

Im a little lost maybe someone can clarify something for me.They state he was found guilty of lying and then they go on to state his pension and the only way he could lose his pension was to commit bribery fraud murder ect ect well he made fraudulent statements please tell me why this is any different than fraud?
