Palin calls for Stevens to resign

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/10/27/art.palin.10.27.jpg caption="Palin says Stevens should step aside."](CNN) - Sarah Palin said Tuesday Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens should resign his Senate seat, in a statement released hours after John McCain made a similar declaration.

The comments come a day after Palin would not say what she thought the best course of action for the recently convicted senator should be.

"After being found guilty on seven felony counts, I had hoped Senator Stevens would take the opportunity to do the statesman-like thing and erase the cloud that is covering his Senate seat," she said in the statement. "He has not done so. Alaskans are grateful for his decades of public service but the time has come for him to step aside. Even if elected on Tuesday, Senator Stevens should step aside to allow a special election to give Alaskans a real choice of who will serve them in Congress."

She is probably thinking had he been convicted long before now, could have ran for senator Steven's seat, instead of being tied down in this sinking ship of John McCain's until November 4th!!!!

Interesting thought put forward earlier today...
Stevens resigns..Palin leaves the campaign to run for his seat in the senate, and McCain taps ridge for VP.....
I would not put it past the old fool.

Leave Palin alone. She's a maverick and deserves to say what she says, she'll be great VP to glorious McCain's president. I like them because they are patriotic, unlike Obama who's never served military, like biden.

Over the last few days the word SOCIALISM has been mentioned repeatedly by the Republicans.I will like someone in the Republician Party to explain what is Socialism in detail and not by taking a few lines of Markism.

  20. It is almost over!

What kind of egotistical civic leader wastes taxpayer dollars by requiring another election when Teddy boy is forced to resign. Let's just hope the good folks in Alaska take care of him the democratic way since neither he or his comrades in the Senate will do a thing to correct this situation.

This coming from a Governor who used her office to further a personal grudge and violated ethics laws. Who is she to be giving advice to anyone? This is another conflict of interest. If he resigns from the Senate, Palin can appoint herself to fill his Senate seat. Who thinks she wouldn't do exactly that or at the least, run for his empty seat to put her in a better position to run for POTUS in 2012 after she finishs throwing McCain under the bus in 2008.

    Gov. Palin,
We too are grateful for your effort to "not blink" in stepping up when called to service. Now please do us all a favor and step aside. You may be qualified to run Alaska, but have no clue about the nuances, diplomacy or judgement to govern a country from the center not to mention intellectual curiosity and understanding of the difficult challenges facing the country today. You and your party only serves to divide and fear/hate monger.

If Stevens was a democrat there would be no calls to resign, he would be defended by the unmoral democrat party and would be hailed as a hero. Such is your modern-day democrat party.
