Palin calls for Stevens to resign

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/10/27/art.palin.10.27.jpg caption="Palin says Stevens should step aside."](CNN) - Sarah Palin said Tuesday Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens should resign his Senate seat, in a statement released hours after John McCain made a similar declaration.

The comments come a day after Palin would not say what she thought the best course of action for the recently convicted senator should be.

"After being found guilty on seven felony counts, I had hoped Senator Stevens would take the opportunity to do the statesman-like thing and erase the cloud that is covering his Senate seat," she said in the statement. "He has not done so. Alaskans are grateful for his decades of public service but the time has come for him to step aside. Even if elected on Tuesday, Senator Stevens should step aside to allow a special election to give Alaskans a real choice of who will serve them in Congress."

It looks like Governor Palin is focusing on Alaska issues again. After Tuesday, that will be her main focus anyway.

Palin should look after her own future in Alaska – her vice presidential run is coming to a close. Better luck in Alaska after they decide what to do with your ethics violating self.

Oh now, let's just elect Stevens' opponent and we won't need any silly special election. Besides, if elected, Stevens won't resign. Which means you'll have to haul him off the Senate floor in handcuffs. Not a pretty picture for the minority party.

If and when "Troopergate" is finally exposed we'll see if good ole Sarah will resign her Gov. position. I doubt it....she thinks too highly of herself. Palin is a foolish idiiot.

Yesterday Palin basically said she thought that Stevens would do the right thing from now on......another flip flop. I guess McCain wants him to step down cuz he puts a dark spot on the republican party. To late.

Sooo, he was found to be guilty of ethics and so was Palin but she is calling the kettle black? Wow!

I just love the U.S.A. Convicted felons can’t vote but a convicted felon can run for the Senate. Priceless. Only in the U.S.A.

Please half-wit, spare us your self-rightous indignation, remember you were found guilty of abuse of power.

If you think he should resign then when can we expect your resignation?

Alaska needs to investigate how Palin built her house. The Maverick again crime. Yea! right. It took her long enough to decide he needed to resign and she probalby wouldn't vote for him I bet Stevens has so much on her. Stevens trained Palin.

    Troopergate
    Taisergate
    Abuse of Power
    Ethics Violations
