Judge: PA must have paper ballots ready if half of machines fail

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Pennsylvania must have paper ballots available for its voters if half the machines at a polling place break down, a federal judge ruled Wednesday.

The state wanted paper ballots mandatory only if all the machines in a polling place failed.

"Emergency back-up paper ballots shall be used thereafter until the county board of elections is able to make the necessary repairs to the machine(s) or is able to place into operation," Judge Harvey Bartle ruled.

The state will not appeal the decision. In a statement, Secretary of the Commonwealth Pedro Cortes said the state will work with counties to ensure emergency ballots are used consistently, and that there is a sufficient supply.

Check back and forth between O'reilly and the tingle leg station – every time I have flipped to the "Queen for Day" "I Love Me not Lucy", he's had typically white people on there. Doesn't he just make you want to puke!

I hope Obama has something new to say, otherwise he's found a good way to burn up some major funds.I wonder if i'll make it through the whole 1/2 hour.

  5. Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story...

Lest we all forget, Pennsylvania has a DEMOCRAT Governor and a DEMOCRAT Secretary of the Commonwealth. For the Republicans "trying to steal this election", it's gonna be awfully tough with a Democratic administration.

Sorry Obamaniacs - the fact that Pa. was a defendant in this case is the Democrats' doing, not the GOP.

Don't worry, I'm sure there's another swing state you can claim the GOP will steal. After all, it's a good story - don't let the facts ruin it for you.

States should demand that paper ballots are available and ready just in case these machines break...Its important! These election is important and you cannot turn away anyone that wants to vote because the machines are not working. We cannot fail our citizens that will turn out in record numbers in this historic election.

Since cnn closes all their blogs before people hava a chance to blog-I read about the Rashid connection months ago but since their are no news reporters left – nobody picked up on it until recently – if there is a reporter left (a real jornalist – know it is not brown or cafferty) Raschid helped form the black panthers under the name of Donald Warden. Wonder if the alias is a take on words – you know -the Don and the warden

Never mind the ACORN distraction - only the weak-minded are buying it anyway - the real danger is Republican-perfected election rigging like this. Do not leave your polling place unless you are sure your intended vote has been registered!

How come Obama didn't pay off Hillary's campaign debt? He waste alot of money on everything else. Do you think the way he waste money that he could tighten up the country? I hope all the democrates that don't like him vote for McCain so that he looses two votes instead of one.

    Ken,

Why won't McCain give any interviews to CNN? Namely, Larry King. Why doesn't Palin give any press conferences? Why does she only talk to conservative radio hosts and not the MSM? Oh right, their "gotcha" journalism.

Sean Hannity had on Andy Martain, an anti-semite who started the refuted "Obama is a Muslim" and "Obama wasn't born in the US" emails, on his "Obama & Ayers" program and took his opinion as fact. Fox News today said they were wrong to have him on. Hannity obviously does little fact checking himself, why would Obama go on there? The man has little credintials outside the conservative world. Obama did an interview with Bill O'reilly. Perhaps if you left Fox News for some objective journalism, you'd see the Obama campaign is much more open than the McCain campaign.

Fact check: Is Columbia professor Khalidi a 'political ally' of Barack Obama?
Posted: 06:50 PM E Get the facts about Gov. Palin's statements Wednesday.

The Statement: Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, speaking on Oct. 29 in Bowling Green, Ohio, said Barack Obama "spent a lot of time with" Rashid Khalidi. "Rashid Khalidi, he, in addition to being a political ally of Barack Obama, he's a former spokesperson for the Palestinian Liberation Organization," she said.
The Verdict: Misleading. While Khalidi eight years ago hosted a political fund-raiser for Obama, the two men strongly disagree over the Israeli-Palestinian issue and there's no evidence of a continuing political relationship.

Fact check: Would Obama hike taxes on small businesses that employ 16 million?

The Verdict: False. McCain uses an overly broad interpretation of the NFIB survey's figures — applying Obama's tax plan to those figures in a way that is highly unlikely to match reality.

Fact check: McCain tax cuts give $200 billion to corporations, $4 billion to oil companies?

The Verdict: True. Obama's statement accurately reflects two studies of McCain's tax proposals.
