Judge: PA must have paper ballots ready if half of machines fail

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Pennsylvania must have paper ballots available for its voters if half the machines at a polling place break down, a federal judge ruled Wednesday.

The state wanted paper ballots mandatory only if all the machines in a polling place failed.

"Emergency back-up paper ballots shall be used thereafter until the county board of elections is able to make the necessary repairs to the machine(s) or is able to place into operation," Judge Harvey Bartle ruled.

The state will not appeal the decision. In a statement, Secretary of the Commonwealth Pedro Cortes said the state will work with counties to ensure emergency ballots are used consistently, and that there is a sufficient supply.

Take the time to vote even if the lines are long. It's worth it!

Lets not even mention the VP with her dumb answers such as not knowing the newspaper she reads, how she can see Russia from alaska; do i need to continue. Is that tell us American how to deal with our issue? Exactly, thats what i thought. Break out of ur shell and do ur research next time b4 u open ur mouth.

Wait, I can see that Ignorance is a bliss. If u tune in to watch, u might learn a thing or two about how he is going to help America.

The Republicans have tred to do everything they can to stop the people from choosing who they want as President, from removing people form the registry who are in the process of being foreclosed on, telling Americans, to vote on Wednesday, stealing peoples absentee ballets, not putting enough voting machines in locals with a lot of minorities, telling people that they need more ID when they do not, and just plane dumping as many people for the registry for no reason at all!

At least there is a backup plan in PA. I'd be pretty angry if I were not able to get in my vote because of a "malfunction". It's funny how we ridicule other countries for their reported deceitful voting tactics. Apparently, America is no better.

  8. Let's go YPM...we need McCain

YPM...lets continue with our fraudelent plan and let's keep this hush, hush. We will win this election for John McCain and Sarah Palin. This plan worked in 2000 and 2004 and we were able to get "W" successfully in the White House. I bet it will work again 2008

Doesn't matter. My friends, McCain's choice of Palin lost him the election no matter how many machines "break down."

  10. Sarah Palin the Alaskan Lobbyist

You know I was thinking and thinking and just couldn't put my finger on what was so dishonest about Sarah Palin then I heard her 'energy speech' today and it hit me like a ton a speech....

She's a lobbyist for Alaska. She is lobbying to bring more jobs to ALASKA, that's it! She knows nothing about the other 'lower 48' nor does she has an interest in learning unless it will benefit Alaska.

She's playing a lying game with the American people and sadly the Republicans are so full of lobbyist they haven't noticed she's taking them for a long ride right into the pockets of Alaska.

Why is Mccain so bent on winning PA. Not long ago he moved his campaign out of Michigan because he was not doing so well there as the polls indicated then. But he is so confident in PA despite the fact that he is behind in the polls. He now says he does not believe the polls but he believed the polls and stopped campaigning in MI. His confidence in PA is questionable and should call for concerns. They even say PA is a must win for him. He had enough time to turn the tides in MI at the time he moved out from there but he did not do that and now he wants to use six days to close the nine point gap in PA. Is that where they are planning to steal the elections this time? Dems have to be very very vigilant in PA, OH and VA. What goes on in the third countries during national elections might happen in these battleground states.

People need to trust our election process here in the US before we try promoting democracy on other countries.

McCain seems awfully sure the polls are dead wrong, most likely becuase he's got a trick or two up his dirty repuglica sleeves. The three of them reek as bad as they look – dirty. Self-entitled sarah runs up a $150K clothing bill for herself and her family while scorning hardworking American familes who can't afford food on the table and foreclosing on their homes. Shame on her the most! Her pregnant daughter needed a $700 reward in theform of a Louis Vitton pocketbook? Imagine her thuggery G-d forbid she should win a seat in the White House – what a disgrace she is to this nation.

Thank God so now when the Republicans try to pull off a Florida maybe there will be some hope with the paper ballots. Machines would switch from Obama to McCain in Virginia and Texas. Democrats in Virginia were told to vote on Nov. 5th. Several blacks and democrats have been purged off voters rolls so far this election....do we see a pattern here?

We'll finally have a president who will speak the truth and will say it
    in proper English.
We've been mislead for 8 years.
Good luck to the Democrats and all Americans.

Some people enjoy the high gas prices, home closures and job

Ken, the questions have been answered. You and Hannity just don't like the answers because they don't suit your agenda. And what's wrong with using a teleprompter? It didn't bother me that Palin used one, just that she lied about it. How stupid was that? Teleprompters aren't illegal – just better than index cards. With all the critical issues facing our country right now, I cannot believe how petty some people are being about this sort of nonsense?

People are losing their homes. We're spending billions, trillions in Iraq and our soldiers are still dying for the wrong war. 40+ million people have no health insurance...and your major gripe is a teleprompter?!
