CNN Electoral Map update: McCain loses ground

Check out CNN's Electoral Map.

(CNN) - Some tough news for John McCain in his own backyard, as his home state of Arizona moves from “safe McCain” to “lean McCain” in the latest CNN poll of polls.

And the Republican nominee continues to lose ground in reliably-red areas, as North Dakota moves from “lean McCain” to “toss-up” – meaning three electoral votes that had been counted for McCain are now considered up for grabs.

But there’s some good news for McCain down south: Louisiana has moved from “lean McCain” to “safe McCain.” And the movement on the map is far from done.

Barack Obama now leads McCain by 131 electoral votes, up from his 128-vote lead yesterday. CNN now estimates that if the presidential election were held today, Obama would win 291 electoral votes and John McCain 160. There are 87 electoral votes up for grabs. Again, 270 electoral votes are needed to win the White House.

The CNN Electoral Map is based on analysis from the CNN Political Unit and takes into account a number of factors, including polling, state voting trends, ad spending patterns, candidate visits, and guidance from the campaigns, parties, and political strategists. The list will be updated regularly as the campaign develops over time.

Democrats held congress frpm 1966-1995.In 1966 Social Security was put under the Federal Budget. It took the Democrats 30 years to rape Social Security. Forbes Magazine said worst return for the taxpayers investment in the history of investing!! Thanks Democrats!

God let this whole map turn blue. I know quite well that Senator Obama will win 43 states, McCain will win 7 states.

I looks like Tuesday will be a land slide victory for Obama and Biden.

Perhaps Joe not showing up yesterday was the October surprise.

    Louisiana moving to safe?

That's odd considering there was just a poll that had McCain only up by 3% there.

As good as the news looks, I worry about the Bradley effect....and about McCain stooping even lower than he already has. Fortunately, the American people - REAL Americans, Sarah, baby– see right thru his lies and distortions and realize McCain & Palin are deceitful to say the least. Only 4 more days of McCains insane lies and Palin's stupid comments

I was unable to vote for Senator Kennedy when he became president because I was one month from being age 21.

Now you can vote at 18.

My generation did this for you because we didn't feel it was right for you to fight for your country but not be able to vote.

I am asking you a favor: PLEASE VOTE and drag your registered friends to vote with you. Call them in the morning and wake them up, go to their homes and drag them out of bed and to the polls.

Here is your chance to show America what you can do for your country, just as JFK asked my generation.

It ain't over till the fat lady sings.......that is, unless all those early Acorn ficticious voters votes have already been counted and the real votes from real, actual voters are no longer needed. I guess you Obama supporters think it's already "in the bag". Guess again – it won't be over till the last vote is counted.
I pray it's McCain...but whoever it is....I will support them. I know if it's Obama though.....their will be a very long homeymoon with the press (who I'm ashamed to say, have not done their job). It's so sad that our major press media is so biased.

My friends, its all over but the crying. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy (Jon Mackaine). After this Mackaine is toast, he is damaged goods – he won't be any use to the GOP.

It is wonderful to see that people are finally waking up to what is at stake this election. Anyone should not just vote for their party ticket but for the better candidates. Arizona, and all other mostly Republican States... if you feel Obama/Biden are the the better candidates, vote for them. This election is almost nerve wrecking, but in a good sense!

    OBAMA/BIDEN 08... can't wait!

I moved to South Dakota (from Northern California's Bay Area) and I didn't realize there are so many idiots who live here...if this is what you call living. I've polled cows, who out number humans, and even the cows say they'd vote Obama if Acorn would find their way to the pit, hey, I'll even deliver their absentee ballots to the courthouse, or cathouse, or whatever.
