Former Reagan adviser endorses Obama

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/10/31/ken-duberstein.jpg caption="Duberstein is pulling for Obama."]

(CNN) - Former Reagan chief of staff Ken Duberstein told CNN's Fareed Zakaria this week he intends to vote for Democrat Barack Obama on Tuesday.

Duberstein said he was influenced by another prominent Reagan official – Colin Powell – in his decision.

"Well let's put it this way – I think Colin Powell's decision is in fact the good housekeeping seal of approval on Barack Obama."

Powell served as national security advisor to Reagan during Duberstein's tenure as chief of staff.

Duberstein spoke with Zakaria about his final days in the Reagan White House. The Reagan official, along with Clinton Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and Carter National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski, also discussed the transition process to a new administration.

Watch the full discussion on the next administration this Sunday at 1 p.m. on Fareed Zakaria GPS.

Just another sign that we're going to see a new, better Republican party come out of this. One that casts out monsters like Rove, Limbaugh, Hannity, Bush, Palin, and the rest of the frothing at the mouth power hungry animals. One with conservatives we liberals can respect even if we disagree with.

In contrast to the name-calling (from both sides) on this thread, what's great about endorsements from Mr. Duberstein, and numerous others, is their model of putting country above some kind of tribal affiliation (whatever you may think of their politics).

We're not going to be any better off on Nov 5 if half of America is gloating, while the other half sulks.

  5. When shall you stop this deception!

How come a VP candidate Sarah Palin refused to have interview with Larry King Live ...! How can she be qualified for such a high office when she could not even be available for interview? Does she have something that is afraid of revealing?

Stop McCain's fraudulent manipulations of voters: Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber are both Frauds!

Open Letter to John McCain and Sarah Palin:

These types of examples of support should make you want to revise your stump speeches regarding "reaching across party lines".

If you have time, would you please provide the American public with a list of your "promiment" crossover supporters.

    Thanks. We are all waiting.

You are a disgusting piece of crap. You just show your ignorance and hatred with your comments. Come to think of it I actually feel sorry for you that you are filled with so much hate. Something really bad must have happened to make you this way. How sad.

Endorsments of this nature don't usually mean very much, but this time it could be the difference in a close election. The polls have tightened a bit to around 6 points. Do not become complacent, VOTE your heart and soul – VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN. We have had enough of divisive, negative politics in this country to last a lifetime. The ignorant will learn eventually that unity is better than being angry all the time. Let the healing begin!

This is what Rush Limbaugh would say: He must be black (looks are deceiving); why else would another white Republican endorse Obama?

To Bill "his vote is not worth more than mine big deal".

Well you could say the same thing about Colin Powell's vote, but that's where you're wrong. Colin Powell's and to a certain extent this guy's vote is worth more than yours, because unlike you, people care about what these guys think. Colin's endorsement was certainly enough to sway Duberstein.

As a Christian it is very hurtful to see other Christian dumb down God to politics and opinions. Before you cast a stone, please look at yourself. If you can't please, please, please pick up your bible.

God is bigger than McCain and Obama. His will will prevail.

P.S. I voted for Obama, Hagan and Purdue!

P.S.S. I thought NC was already blue?

    Pat F,

When Colin Powell was the darling of the GOP, did you revile him then, as well? Or was it just recently because he endorsed Obama?

More importantly, do you EVEN know who gave Powell the information he used when he went to the UN regarding Iraq?

It was the intelligence services run by the Bush administration.

Get your facts straight before making an idiot of yourself on the internet.
