Former Reagan adviser endorses Obama

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/10/31/ken-duberstein.jpg caption="Duberstein is pulling for Obama."]

(CNN) - Former Reagan chief of staff Ken Duberstein told CNN's Fareed Zakaria this week he intends to vote for Democrat Barack Obama on Tuesday.

Duberstein said he was influenced by another prominent Reagan official – Colin Powell – in his decision.

"Well let's put it this way – I think Colin Powell's decision is in fact the good housekeeping seal of approval on Barack Obama."

Powell served as national security advisor to Reagan during Duberstein's tenure as chief of staff.

Duberstein spoke with Zakaria about his final days in the Reagan White House. The Reagan official, along with Clinton Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and Carter National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski, also discussed the transition process to a new administration.

Watch the full discussion on the next administration this Sunday at 1 p.m. on Fareed Zakaria GPS.

Inspiring to see so many prominent Republicans rejecting the McCain campaign's politics of division and choosing country over party.

They offer a heroic example of what it really means to put "Country First".

Mr Duberstein is another insider that know's McCain and knows that he will drag us through the mud the same way Bush has. So he is not a " TRAITOR " ( trader! ). He is a true American that is really putting country first. Not party first...

He is a very smart man. Obviously much smarter than you. So if anybody is an " idiot " it has to be the person that can't spell the insult their using towards him.

We welcome any and all newcomers to the Democratic party.

C'mon into our Big Tent! There's plenty of room. After all, and as Obama himself said, we're neither Red States nor Blue, we're the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

    Change is coming.

It's no wonder that members of the Republican party are endorsing the Obama/Biden ticket; McCain/Palin are running the most hateful and divisive campaign, something that McShame promised to never do. I, along with many other patriotic Americans appreciate the years of service that McCain has given this country; but his selection of Palin and his erratic behavior have demonstrated that he is not the best leader for the future of this country. GO OBAMA/BIDEN!!!

  10. Sarah's Not The One

Noble and decent people are looking at the two candidates and saying I'll take the intelligent one. Not the one who has sold his soul to get into the White House. Not the one who picks a VP who looks like she couldn't be the manager of a hair salon, let alone the country.

I am a registered Democrat from Illinois, still undecided, BUT, Ayers, Khiladi, etc, don't really bother me, BUT what does bother me is Obama's 20 close relation with Rev. Wright's church which is a hot bed of teachings of Black Supremacy. I feel that is Obama's underlying political agenda. If McCain had been in the KKK or even a white supremacy church for 20 years, there would have been Hell to pay.
Something else that bothers me is that the most hateful responses on these blogs are coming from Democrats.

This is just another example why Senator Obama is the right choice. Obama is the right choice for Democrats, Republican, Independents, White, Black, Latino, Native American's and Asians. Senator Obama brings true change.

I just looked at the Obama – McCain tax plan and used their calculators to figure my savings. McCain saved me $180 a year, Obama's plan will ave my family $1000 a year.

I think the decision is clear.

The key thing here is not that this guy or Powell are big names, but the fact they are REPUBLICANS who are willing to support a DEMOCRAT in this election. This is how elections are won ... by getting people to change their affiliation, even if only regarding this one office. For all we know all of Zakaria's other votes for senate, etc will be Republican. But he wants this Democrat to be the man in charge, and if enough other Republican Americans can be convinced in this direction, the Obama wins.

I am one of those who liked McCain. However, I am highly disappointed in him. He turned out to be fake. He has poor judgment, he chose some body with zero experience, he uses smear tactics, he has no substance. He will also have no substance, if he is elected.

I found Obama to be charismatic, born leader, honost, sincere, and true agent of change. He is the right leader for the USA. He is my choice.
