Cindy McCain says media gives Palin a bad rap

(CNN) - Cindy McCain came to the defense of Gov. Sarah Palin Monday, telling CNN’s Larry King the media has unfairly criticized the Republican vice presidential nominee when it comes to her qualifications and her wardrobe.

"She's been an inspiration to women all over the world and absolutely I think she was treated very poorly in the press," Mrs. McCain said in an interview that aired on Larry King Live.

Mrs. McCain also disputed political observers who have said Palin has hurt the Republican ticket more than she has helped.

"I have heard those – the quote ‘pundits’ that have said that. Those clearly are the pundits that perhaps are not on our side," McCain said. "Besides the crowds she gets, the inspiration, the – just her ability to get her message out, get our message out, she is a truly remarkable woman and I am just so glad that I know her."

But a new CNN/Opinion Research corporation survey released Sunday appears to suggest the opposite: 57 percent of likely voters questioned said Palin does not have the personal qualities a president should have. That's up 8 points since September.

When it comes to the now famous $150,000 wardrobe tab picked up by the Republican Party, Mrs. McCain said she thought it was a “very silly thing to be upset about,”with all that is facing the country right now.

"We need to be concerned with what's going on with our economy, how we keep people in their homes, how we bring jobs back to areas like Scranton, Pennsylvania where we are and just make sure that people are able to keep – not only keep their jobs but be able to provide for their families. That's a great deal more important than clothing," Mrs. McCain said.

As for her husband, she said he's doing "great."

"It can be very personal sometimes and he is just always the one that keeps everybody level and keeps everybody on target with what we're doing. I just love him for that,” she said.

While Mrs. McCain has enjoyed her time on the trail, win or lose, she also said she is looking forward to resuming "a bit of a normal family life again," after the elections are over.

Palin gave Palin a bad name... she said yes to the VP spot. What on earth did she think she was saying yes to?

Lordy be Miss Cindy! If you is so nervous maybe you should take some controlled substances. It doesn't get better than this when excuses are needed. No claims of aggressive hand shaking and no arm in a sling.

  5. A Woman In California For Obama

Did anyone else besides me get sick to their stomach when McCain announced her as "First Lady." She is NO lady. A woman who knowingly had a relationship with a married man and father of three.

Cindy's quote: When it comes to the now famous $150,000 wardrobe tab picked up by the Republican Party, Mrs. McCain said she thought it was a “very silly thing to be upset about,”with all that is facing the country right now.

She would say that. Since she wears at least $300,000 an outfit. Totally vain. NOT what I want in any first lady. She should concern herself with issues and less slander on Sen. Obama. I hope I never have to see this drug addicted, house wrecker religious(less) woman again. Please do us all a favor and go shopping!

Says the mistress turned wife(y), drug abuser and $300k per outfit wearing woman.

This is the same lady who won't even share her own good fortune with her spouse and step children.

Cindy you more than welcome to run off to Alaska just like you ran from Washington so many years ago. Please take Sarah and Megan with you

Exactly!! why dont you tell this to your husband. He seems to be hyperventilating about what Obama says all the time and not saying how he is going to create more jobs.

As far as what is going on with economy..ask your friend Mr. Bush! He has answers to everything.

Yes, Cindy, there certainly are much more important things to worry about now than $150,000 of clothes.

Why hasn't your husband been focusing on them? Instead of all the stupid little diversionary non-issues he and Palin have been wasting everyone's time on through the whole campaign? Why single out that one, even though it's totally ridiculous. There are many others and the Repubs have been fixating on only the stupidest.

Is she on drugs again? CNN please check. Anybody siding with Palin and defending her stupidity shouldn't be allowed to vote, they clearly need some sanity analysis.

  13. Oh yeah

Isn't this the same camp that pointed out repeatedly how much money Obama approved to spend on a Planetarium projector that would get used for the education of hundreds of thousands of schoolchildren (and adults)?

$150,000 on 2 months worth of clothing? Sure. Flights and expenses for family members on state business? No biggie.

Why on earth is McCain still doing all these campaign stops all over the country, he is way too old for this much stuff .... He doesnt have a chance to win, EVERY poll and Every person with half a brain knows Obama and the Democrats are going to win in one landslide victory after another.. Americans are tired of the BUSH ways and all who support him and his horrible policies that have almost ruined the greatest nation known to man .... And it wasnt like the GOP can say they didnt know what they were getting ... they knew ..........and thats what they wanted ......... To rob america and her citizens blind ...... As soon as OBAMA gets in he should start investigations of the entire BUSH CABINET and every policy Bush pushed through should be reviewed .......CLOSELY ................... It will take DECADES to fix this mess the GOP and BUSH has put our great nation in but we will survive a lot wiser a lot more broke but I pray we never let the GOP in control of anything but themselves .....

  16. Fired my party (former republican)

The media helped Sarah Palin look better. However, the depth of her limited knowledge just could not be hidden from the public whenever Sarah opened her mouth.

I guess you don't pick out a woman with a journalism degree that took 6 years to obtain and offer her the vice presidency.

I am an proud American and I would like to send Sarah Palin a copy of the "Constitution of the USA" so she can read it. Few more hours before we elect our new president. Obama.
