GOP official says it's over for McCain

(CNN) - The Ohio loss is a crushing blow to McCain. A senior-level GOP official tells me it's over. He's done.

There is no way he can win without Ohio, that was his last hope.

Exit polls suggest that Sarah Palin only helped McCain. Your welcome.

We all knew change was coming. We need to embrace change and face our wars, global warming, and the issues that will test our strength in a much deeper way than this election. In with the new, and "Nicki" you are wrong, Obama doesnt stand for everything the Republicans hate. This isn't a competition where "rolling over" is defeat, its about healing this country. Get out of the way if you won't lend a hand.

Interesting how the man who is supposed to "unite" and "bring everyone together" has such visceral supporters and those who spew ugliness and divisiveness forth on these blogs. It will be interesting to see how that "unity" happens.

This reminds me of Israel in the Bible, the people wanted a King instead of God over them. They got what they wanted. King Saul. It was disaster after that. I guess God has given the people just what they wanted. Obama. It is only downhill from here. So, yes, this is Gods will and also Gods judgement..I pray your ready, because you will see things that you thought you would never see in America! Change is coming and it is not going to be good change. But, remember when everyone cries out for Obama and this Nation starts careening in a downward spiral. God gave you just what you wanted. You will have only yourselves to blame.

I will support anyone who my country elects as president, while I may not always agree with the decisions made, I will always be respectful. I urge you all to be respectful to both McCain, and Obama.
I will also urge you all to be respectful of our outgoing president, and stop the negativity!
We are all American's let's pull together

I for one do not understand projecting a winner in these states when only 2% or 30% or precincts have reported. I thought all votes had to count and california and other western states polls havent even closed yet so why do I get the feeling americans are screwed no matter which way we vote and that those other votes dont count when the media is calling a winner before the polls are closed and what about provisional ballots and absentee ballots? Something STINKS!!! I think we ought to get rid of the electoral college and go with the popular vote, it seems to me that would be much more fair and what the people truly want kinda like the college poll system for football that sucks too.!!

Grown up??? We're on our way to electing a man with zero qualifications and questionable morals and judgment. The popularity contest is going to cost us all dearly.

To the Keeper of the Flame. Yes Obama may talk to the iranians or Al Quida. I want to see if the results are better than last 8 years of "teaching Them a Lesson". Please dont tell me the last 8 years of republican ruling our economy and employment outlook flourished.

Senator Obama has run a well organized and planned campaign and the White House is a fitting place for him. He will make an excellent president, he is the only candidate that has reached out to all Americans. It's time we unify this country and Obama is that man. We have a Senate Majority once again and well on the way to a House majority. Well done Democrats, Well done Obama and Joe B.

  19. Palin/Dole=WRONG WOMEN

Dole lost because of that Godless thing of hers. Palin lost because she is not qualified to run for this job. These women are not right for the job. We need women to run for office with morals, integrity and take the high ground. The Republican brand has been branded as overly white, not inclusive, uneducated...when did it become ok to not value intelligence??, racist (KKK and skinheads are christian too), ignorant and superstitious.
That brand is not being bought now.
I wanted a better life taking the higher ground, being inclusive, intelligent, and wanting to play well with others.
Thank God Obama has been elected. I am so proud of this country and so grateful and so willing to help.

I voted for Obama. I'm hopeful that we will have a change in our values and perceptions of each other over the next four years. However, when I wake up in the morning, the sky will still be blue, I will still have to go to work, pay taxes, and fight like hell to have something worth having in life. I think that Obama will be a positive change, but nothing will ever replace our need for personal responsibility and self-reliability in America. NOBODY takes care of you as well as YOU do!
