Lines, machine problems plaguing Indiana county near Chicago

(CNN) – Voting machine problems and some delays are reported in Lake County, Indiana, just across the state line from Chicago.

Damian Rico, communications director for the city of East Chicago, Indiana, said at one precinct in Riley Park, two machines were down for about 15 minutes when the polling place opened. Both machines are up and running now.

County election director Sally La Sota was not aware of any major problems, other than long lines.

The county is expected to vote heavily for Democrat Barack Obama. There is a significant black population and the county is just southeast of Obama's hometown of Chicago. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Lake County has a 26% black population, 13.9% Hispanic population.

Statewide, officials say there are no significant problems. Jim Gavin, communications director for the Indiana Secretary of State, said there were long lines statewide but no issues that he was aware of.

This country is greater than it's problems. We will fix the "voter problem" because we'll have a president who is concerned about every voter, not just Democrats. Barack will make a difference with our help. I'm so excited for the future I can't sit down.

Jeb Bush has had several sexual affairs which makes him a sinner.
Why would he be appealing to the religious people. He is such a sleaze bucket. Go Obama. Beat Jeb in 2012.

  5. Worst President Ever

You know what, I'm tired of pretending and being nice to George W. Bush. I said at one time he was the WORST PRESIDENT IN MODERN HISTORY. I take that back, he is the WORST PRESIDENT EVER. That's my poll, and I think historians will prove me right. Never has one man done so much to harm so many.

People say he protected us from Al Quaeda, well you can't prove a negative, so how do you know? That's like the gang war lords saying they will protect us from the gangs, when they are the bad guys themselves.

  6. Laughin Out Loud

No major problems? Are you kidding? I'm hearing reports of voter suppression and intimidation everywhere in Indiana. My wife just got back from voting in Hamilton County, IN (very conservative). She said there are McCain/Palin supporters who had to be escorted away from the booths because they were soliciting votes in violation of IN election laws. Hearing the same thing from people at work. Overnight, there was a contingency of repubs who were arrested for yanking Obama signs at over 15 Southeast Hamilton polling locations. One of them was affiliated with the Indiana McCain team. Though I should be saddened, I'm delightfully amused to see how Republicans behave when they are desparate. Suppression aside, we're going to win this thing in a landslide and be poppin the bubbly tonight!

Get rid of the voting machines they've never been successful, they're easy for the Republican's to hack like every year and so far this year in Texas and Virginia where the Obama votes are switching to McCain. With America being so technologically advanced these machines are the best we can do? Colorado, Indiana, and Missouri all have had machine problems this morning so far, conveniently battle ground states as wellll but please paper ballots need to be available.

    Turning Indiana blue!!!!!

Obama/Biden America's only REAL hope for CHANGE!!!!

  9. Take It Back Americans

When have Republicans ever been disenfranchised? When have they had broken machines and were turned away at the polls. Think Americans, this is a time to take our country back. We've lived through 8 years of hell, now let's reverse it. Stand up and vote.

Obama's 30 minute ad on wednesday gave a clear picture of what he intend's to do when elected president. It was very informative and gave specific detail's in change's he plan's to make. Change's to help this country and change's for the better. A very positive message. On the other hand, McCain's ad's tell me nothing except how much he dislike's Obama. With such a negative attitude he will never be elected president. So I want to be the first to say "the next president of the United States of America will be Barack Hussein Obama!"

    The Obama train is rolling...

They're loading the ballot boxes in every urban voting precinct with fake votes...
They've registered the living and the dead...
    They've falsified voter registrations...
    They're voting in multiple precincts...
They're punching holes in the tires of the vans that take the elderly to vote...
They're double punching the ballots of Republican voters to invalidate them...
They're conveniently "losing" the ballots cast by our soldiers overseas...
They've paid the homeless for their votes with alcohol and cigarettes and are bussing then to the polls...
They've paid ACORN hundreds of thousands of dollars for illegal campaign activities...
They've had bundlers collecting millions and then falsifying where it came from...
They've accepted millions in illegal campaign contributions from overseas...
They've got the media in the bag and cooperating with all of this...

...and a stolen election is foisted on America!

(All reliable data shows that although there is election fraud on both sides, it is 99% Democrat perpetrators)

Its a big deal because the issues only seem to be happening in Urban areas of battleground states. Coincidence? I don't think so. Anyone trying to argue the Democrats are behind this look at where it is happening. Urban and heavily Democratic areas. I can't believe this is happening again. Hopefully all this will do is make a landslide victory a close victory for Obama.

I love reading the liberals who pray to God to elect a man to the Presidency who's moral platform regarding abortion completely goes against what God has commanded. Unlike what many of you (including the highly respected Rev. Wright) believe, this is not about's about character. But as one very intelligent liberal wrote earlier, if you don't vote for Obama, you must be a redneck racist. No hate in those words, is there?

    This is definitely an issue.

Break downs only in Democratic areas?

Since this is happening in Republican States, it doesn't look good.

Someone needs to take a good long look at the people who are having their rights abridged.

This is why we need to have voting on a non-working day(s).
