A new day on Capitol Hill

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - Spend tens if not hundreds of billions to boost the economy. Pass a law giving homeowners more leverage over lenders. Do more to address the growing ranks of unemployed workers.
There's a new day for economic policy in Washington.
The Democrats not only took back the White House - they gained a stronger hand in both chambers of Congress. As a result, in the 10 weeks before President-elect Barack Obama takes office and the months that follow, legislative leaders will likely revive a series of measures that failed to gain traction in the past year.
At the top of the agenda: stimulating the flagging economy.
It's time to cut the China VISA Bush used to fund a $10 billion a month fantasy war he really believed would make him an American hero. Someone should tell GW that God isn't speaking to him through his shortwave radio. Pay back the trillion dollar China Visa, and restructure the trade deal Bush signed just so he could borrow the war money that "we" are responsible for paying back. I'd rather not buy made in China poison milk, pet food, infant toys....and the list goes on, and on. Thanks GW, for nothing.

It looks like Wall Street is not exactly thrilled with Tuesday's election results. Down almost 500 pts. yesterday and another 400 so far today. Obama will only dig the hole deeper with his tax and spend programs and investers know it. We're in for a dreadful 4 years.
There's a new sheriff in town. Let's go change the world!
Congress and the Senate has more to do on the economic issue then Mr. Obama.
I think most need to educate themselves on how our government works. Obama is not the answer you need to treat the causes of our economic strife.
President Clinton Openned the door up to China. He can be credited with the loss of American Jobs and the problems with the sub prime lending markets. History is clear on who did what. Was not Mr. Clinton a Democrat, is not Mr. Obama a Democrat.
Most of you that voted McCain probably don't even make close to $250k, so you need to go sit ya broke, non-thinking about your own financial crisis down. Open your eyes to the reality of what has happened to us, all!!!
Instead of putting the money in the stock market, they could have given everyone, paying taxes and at least 18 yrs old that have recorded that they have paid taxes at some point in their life $850K and the economy would have blasted off instead of giving money to these banks that they probably have accounts in and now they have to still demand that they start giving loans. I have seen the biggest pimps in action this year!

Jan – It was Nation of Islam leader Farrakhan who called Obama messiah first. The GOP picked up on it because they know that Farrakhan would like people to believe that Obama will solve all the problems. He must think he knows better than the real messiah as he has no regard for the life of babies. So, where do you think some are coming up with the thought that maybe he's the anti-Christ? I just wish he wouldn't call himself a Christian because he does even agree with what the Bible says a Christian is. He picks the scriptures that fits his agenda and dismisses other scripture as "obscure". Do some research and find the facts.

Bush had plenty of respect when he first took office in Jan 2001, that respect soared immediately after the attacks of Sept 11. It began slipping when he threatened our Allies around the world over Iraq. Remember, "You're either with us or against us!" THAT is when the level of respect began to dwindle. He got in return exactly what he put out there.
Are you kidding me? That's a little re-writing of history. Before the election was even over the dems were accusing Bush of "stealing the election" and that is when the hate began.....before he even took office.
We may have just dodged a bullit with Sen. McCain. The only reason McCain lost the election was due to his silent "Arrogance". Pick Sarah Palin (who I believe to be a decesnt intelligent person) without regard to her ability to take over if necessary. Did he take council on this, I doubt it, Suspending his campain to return to Washington (as if no others were qualified to deal with the current crisis.) It appears that he acted without listening to his staff advisors. This begs the question, as President, " would he brush aside advice from his advisors if he didn't agree with them". His treatment of Sarah Palin by not talking to her. And the final arrogant act on election night by invitation only to his party. This is not a leader of the all the people but a segment of the people.
