Gibbs likely to be press secretary

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Watch the event on"]CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) - Will Senior Obama Campaign Strategist Robert Gibbs become Barack Obama's Press Secretary?

A high level source involved in the Obama transition team tells CNN Senior Political Correspondent Candy Crowley that as of this morning the offer to Gibbs of the Press Secretary's position has been discussed but that the job has not been formally offered yet.

CNN's Jessica Yellin is also hearing a similar message from another Obama transition source.
A very close friend of Gibb's on Capitol Hill tells CNN Chief National Correspondent John King that he's been told the job is a done deal and will be announced later today.

Gibbs steered the Obama Campaign's communications. He served as Communications Director in Obama's Senate office prior to joining the presidential campaign early last year, and he was a major player in the freshman senator's rise in the public eye.

Gibbs is good but Rachel Maddow is better. He's needs a fresh face with the gift of gab and very likable to public. Forget Gibbs select Maddow.

I really wish that all those here and other places tht still bashing Obama would get over it. Mccain even said that we need to work together. This is the only way we can come together as the UNITED States of America.
Of course no one is going to be perfect and there are going to many things that personally we may not like about the leader, no matter which one it would have been. But the fact remains we have a long road ahead of us and either candidate realized this, and that is why we must come together as a nation, otherwise we are into the end of days for this nation. In the past in times of crisis in this country we have come together and worked as one to make it great ...this time is no different. it is time to STOP the back biting,,and the devisivenss , the bad mouthing, and to work as one NATION.
This goes for Congress as is not the red and blue states of America, it is not the Congress of the political is...

Awesome choice in Robert Gibbs! He is a very down-to-earth and personable guy.... a complete opposite to that weasel in the McCain camp, Tucker Bounds.

Man, you liberals sure hate Hannity. What you have to remember is Hannity is not the press and is not a journalist. Hannity is a commentator. It doesn't matter who the press secretary is with the left leaning media. Mickey Mouse could do it.

I was a vocal McCain supporter and was impressed with Palin, given all of the attacks she was under. You liberals need to learn to be gracious winners and stop the hatred. I'm over McCain's loss and plan to support President Obama unless he does something that could gravely harm our great country.

I think Gibbs is a great choice. After the way he held his ground with Sean Hannity (someone who never lets the opponent get a word in ) was fantastic. Good choice.

Seems to be you are an uneducated you even know the history of your own country, guess NOT.

Obama does not start till Jan 20th 09, we are still in 2008. The stock market has been down for weeks, caused by Bush and McCain's policies. This man has not even started and you people are attacking are a joke, all the right wings are a joke. Go back to your caves and hide for the next 8 years or move...leave, you might prosper elsewhere...

I'm sure Gibbs would do a great job since the Obama campaign was wonderful but I agree with John, Rachel Maddow would be a great choice! 🙂 I love her show!

So glad Obama is our President Elect! I am proud to have helped elect him!

I believe Robert Gibbs is the natural choice. He's diplomatic, has a great smile and is personable.

Since he has spent so much time with President-Elect Obama, he shares insights that an outsider doesn't have.

A similar situation is when President Kennedy named Pierre Salinger as his press secretary. Salinger had spent many years with JFK before Kennedy became President and did an outstanding job

I hope the campaign is fair to the other side and does not forget to bring Republican Governor Palin into the administration. Someone will have to clean after the new puppy.

Andy, you can't possibly be serious. Obama's Inauguration Day is 20 January, until then he is still a Senator. I suppose if he needs to go to the bathroom he will need an approval from the likes of you.
