McCain sources gripe about Palin

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/11/06/art.palin.ap.jpg caption="Some McCain advisers were frustrated by Palin."](CNN) - Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin had prepared to deliver a concession speech before John McCain’s Tuesday night — and brought her remarks with her to his Phoenix concession - but senior McCain campaign adviser Steve Schmidt told her she could not.

Two McCain sources say Palin clearly did not understand the protocol of a concession speech, and expected she would have the chance to deliver one of her own.

Update: Palin camp fires back

McCain advisers were also upset with the Alaska governor for setting up what she thought was a call from French President Nicolas Sarkozy. The call, which turned out to be a prank from Quebec radio hosts, was not cleared with the McCain campaign and some saw the effort to set it up as evidence of her future presidential ambitions.

A Palin ally involved in setting up the call, however, suggests McCain advisers had ample time to object given the call was on her schedule for three days.

Two McCain sources also say Palin did not know Africa was a continent and could not find it on a map. A third source, a Palin ally, says that was a miscommunication.

Palin needs to stay in Alaska. I'm sure she's a decent governor but she has absolutely no business on the federal level.

Selecting Palin was a "Hail Mary" for a campaign that knew it was falling behind early.

McCain should have booted her after the Couric interview if he wanted a chance.

So The Devil Wears Prada has finally returned home to continue all those "good works" Christian living ideals she left on the national stage for the true unsocialistic, non-terroist paling around "real" Americans unlike myself who is a proud "heathen" who proudly voted for THAT ONE WHO WON!!! All I have to say is FREE AT LAST FREE AT LAST THANK GOD ALMIGHTY FREE AT LAST!!!

She was simply out of her league from the get-go and she didn't wise up along the way. I feel badly for her even though I would never vote for her. I'm sure she's a rock star in Alaska and I think that's where she should stay.

One VERY positive thing about Sarah Palin, she makes former Vice President Dan Quayle , serving with former President George Bush, look like an absolute GENIUS!!!!!! Granted, he didn't know how to spell potato but he did know what the Vice President's job was at least, meaning that's not being over the senate like Palin told a 3rd grade student! Is her middle inital "D" by chance for Duh?

Marc PDX, it's not liberals beating her up, it's coming from the McCain camp. Even FOX news threw her under the bus, and the stories about her temper tantrums and not knowing Africa was a continent (and not a country) came from them. Nice try, blaming the liberal boogie man for the actions of your failed presidential nominee.

You have to be disconnected from reality if you, for one minute, believe
that Governor Sarah Palin did not know Africa is a continent and couldn't find it on a map. We just need to teach her to be coniving, treacherous, dishonest and self serving then she'll fit the exact bill the media and all the beltway types want her to be.

Palin was a good soldier for her party. That they are trashing her now is disgraceful. Imho, it was her enthusiasm and charisma that kept McCain in the race at all.

The mccain camp got what they deserved. I really feel sorry for the palin children, whose parents had no better sense than to drag them all over the country.

Palin's ignorance reflects unfortunately the average college student 'shortcomings – no clue about the world, no critical thinking , no desire to think outside of the 6 pack, but plenty of confidence and a talent for self-importance and self-promotion. It is hard to imagine that years of public service as well as these few months in the political limelight did nothing to fill her brain. She must been very proud to be the way she is, and if there is anything wrong, it must be the mainstream media of the other Americans, the smart ones.
Alaska, this beautiful state, is certainly not blessed to have such a governor. Good hibernation to La Palin.

Amazing – people asking for their tax cut. Apparently they don't understand that Bush-Cheney are still in charge of the country. Also don't know that the stock market is dropping ahead of news of a huge job loss report. Sorry guys, that's Bush-Cheney also. Read a newspaper, watch a financial news program. It's amazing what you can learn.

Michael in Houston – No one I know of has turned their back on McCain. Obama? Well we don't dare turn our backs on him, do we? We may well be a society of moderates which makes the fact that you and others like you voted for the most liberal senator around to be prez and combined him with the most liberal leaders in the house and senate rather puzzling. You know, if you pile feces on feces on feces, you probably shouldn't expect to end up with a pizza. You ordered it – our concern is that now we're all gonna have to eat it.

Why the frick does not everyone drop it. Geez, the press slammed this woman. Unfairly. And they still want too.
I voted for McCain, am proud of it. But also accept the fact we lost.
Why cant the media pound thier chest, hail to the Messiah they got elected, and just forget about slamming Sarah.

Because they do not have anything else to talk about, you have your headline, black man wins,,,

Sorry, it took balls to step into the limelight like Sarah did. Too bad the press was not as hard on the messiah,,, but time will show,, he is nothng more than a community organizer.

Let's bury the hatchet on this election. But first let me say this. Palin had no business being on the the national stage and if she knows what is good for herself, she will fade back into the wilderness of Alaska. Second, Obam was the best candidate from the beginning. There was little to no chance McCain could win anyway. Third, the Dow is simply reacting to an unstable market that is still going on. Has nothing to do with the confidence in Obama. It will likely bounce up and down for a while. Finally, the republican party finally got their just due. This just shows good does finally triump over evil.

When did a vice-presidential candidate ever give a speech after losing? Even Joe Biden did not give an acceptance speech. Get over yourself Palin....give your clothes back to RNC....and go home to Alaska. Oh wait you can't....you sold your jet

  21. Go Home Sarah

God only knows what other choices McPain would have made if he were at the wheel. His choice of Sarah was clear enough that his Depends were cutting off the circulation to his brain. I respect him for his concession speech..... but after already being in one uncertain war, I think most Americans didn't want to "bomb bomb bomb Iran"

In the radio prank they are taliking about she did not know the name of the Prime Minister of Canada(Stephen Harper). We are neighbors. As a potential V.P. or even as Govenor of Alaska she should have known something as basic as that.

Obama/Biden won the election; what an achievment.

As far as Palin goes, she will have to deal with her own deamons; she brought everything on herself. She should be ashamed of how she ran the campaign. She is self centered and doesn't care about anything other than pushing her own political agenda forward. Well guess what kiddo, what goes around also comes around.

Go pray to be forgiven for all the dirt you said about Obama, and maybe then God will forgive you.
