[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/11/06/art.palin.ap.jpg caption="Some McCain advisers were frustrated by Palin."](CNN) - Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin had prepared to deliver a concession speech before John McCain’s Tuesday night — and brought her remarks with her to his Phoenix concession - but senior McCain campaign adviser Steve Schmidt told her she could not.
Two McCain sources say Palin clearly did not understand the protocol of a concession speech, and expected she would have the chance to deliver one of her own.
Update: Palin camp fires back
McCain advisers were also upset with the Alaska governor for setting up what she thought was a call from French President Nicolas Sarkozy. The call, which turned out to be a prank from Quebec radio hosts, was not cleared with the McCain campaign and some saw the effort to set it up as evidence of her future presidential ambitions.
A Palin ally involved in setting up the call, however, suggests McCain advisers had ample time to object given the call was on her schedule for three days.
Two McCain sources also say Palin did not know Africa was a continent and could not find it on a map. A third source, a Palin ally, says that was a miscommunication.
The election is over. No need to beat Palin up anymore. The anonymous sources could be full of it, and Palin can't defend herself against anonymously provided anecdotes. Isn't it enough that Obama (who at one time in the primary debates, thought there was a president of Canada) was elected POTUS? Isn't it enough that Joe Biden (who thought they had TVs during the great depression) was made VP. Quit picking on Palin and in a short while buyer's remorse will set in with the ticket that was elected, and you will have them to bash.
Time for me to move on from Sarah. She does not merit any present or future consideration.
Too much important work to do at my job and need to help my kids with their school work and athletics.
"sources say"... yeah right.. Havent you liberals heard that you won? And all the whining about a 'dirty' campaign fby the GOP.. you and the media did nothing but murder Palin in the press from day one.. and you just cant stop because it feels so good.
This entire election has been an awful combination of Celebrity Death Match meets the Jerry Springer show. Everyone needs to grow up now.
Ooops, b-a-l-l-o-o-n-s....got a little moron in me too.
Sara Palin, is a disgrace to women and i for one glad glad glad that she is back in Alaska, she tried her best to set women back 60 years
ALASKA this is for you. Why should anybody give Palin a break.
If you had been on the wrong side of one of her stump speeches.
Would you give her a break?
Sort of like, " She couldn't empty -– out of a boot if the instructions were printed on the heel....."
CNN, reports like these are meaningless unless you site real sources. Names those names if you want be legitimate.
Maybe Palin can grant an interview to someone besides FOX News and prove that she really is an intelligent person? Don't hold your breath!
Stop blaming her, people!! How could she possibly know that Africa is a continent!! She CANNOT see it from her house, so what is she supposed to do!?
It's time to move on, she hung herself.....it was a bad choice, let it go. Frankly she's not worth the time. Let Rush Limbaugh and his ilk fawn over her.....move on.
Sarah Palin is getting same as she has always done to others in Alaska. Her whole history as a politician is evidence to what she herself does.
Sarah Palin was not knowledgeable about issues at all. This is just a sad fact!
Tell her to stay out of the fray!! She is out of her league.
Moderators.....You have 'comments' posted 30 minutes after me!! Why am I still 'UNDER MODERATION'???
Larry, just to let you know I saw this on Bill O'Reilly on Wednesday, so the CNN was not the first to report this information. I am sure you can look it up on Fox if you do not believe me.
Palin is whining yet again about the media, I noticed. Get over it, Bubble Head. The only "gotcha" trap was your own mouth, and you stepped in it every time with your incoherent and your below 90 I.Q. comments. The media went easy on you, e.g. hardly a word about your ethics violations, abuse of power, in Alaska, and then your lying about the findings of your legislative committee. And if you can't manage the media, you can't lead. And nobody wants a whiner leading the world.
Sarah Palin got More than her 15 minutes of fame. It's over now.
Although duped by the "Masked Marvels," when she gave that creepy laugh after the fake Sarkozy said that he liked to kill those little baby seals, will THAT SEALED THE DEAL for me. Anyone who gets a kick out of shooting little baby seals is A SICK PUPPY! I have no sympathy for a sicko like her.
Sarah, don't talk anymore. You show your ignorance every time you open your mouth. Didn't your mama tell you "Never miss an opportunity to keep your mouth shut"?
To Mr. Otterbine....god grow up you are the whining one not Sarah....so hush up....just sit down and wait for the fall of your man Obama because it is coming...
What part of Maverick do these people still not understand?
To everyone who wants people to stop 'picking on Palin', why can't you control yourselves from saying something snarky about the President-elect, or about the 'liberal media' in the same posts?
No, she didn't ask for the job. She didn't turn it down, either! Even though she had no idea what the Vice-President does, she didn't say, 'can you define the job for me?' before accepting.
This is not all pure 'scapegoating'. It's honest disbelief, that someone could be so clueless.... about more or less everything.
I don't blame Sarah Palin for being provincial... the only thing is most hicks KNOW they are hicks.
I think the pulling her out of a top-hat, right after the Obama speech and the DNC, which was a HUGE enthusiam-generator, was an amazingly effective PR stunt. It took the focus off the DNC, and made everyone start talking about her! Not only was that pretty manipulative and cynical, on the part of the McCain campaign - for which HE is responsible - but it seems very unfair to HER.
She wasn't up to the task, but she did serve the purpose of hauling attention onto his basically flat campagn. IMHO, McCain's ambition got the better of his nature, during this campaign. It was his last chance, to achieve something he's wanted so badly, for so long, and he's always been an ambitious man.
When he was not campaigning, or in a pressure situation, like a debate, the John McCain I used to like and respect showed through. Lots of sense of humour, and basically very decent, but committed to his beliefs, and yes, he bites.
He just wasn't ok... wasn't himself, the longer the campaign went on, and especially because of the enthusiasm gap. I wish him peace... but I don't know if he'll find it. He's always been a restless, peripatetic, ambitious man, and now he's a thwarted one. That's gotta suck.
I honestly think he might have been an ok President, but once he picked Palin for VP, he chained himself to the far-right, where he was uneasy. Nobody can govern from a position that is unnatural for him.
ROFLOL to the person who said 'They DO eat their own'.
Its not about Palin its about the republicans They believe they have the right to rule .. and they believe that rest of the people who dont go with them are either stupid or not patriotic or may be aliens.. well they know now it is quite opposite. And while reading responses from Repubs in this blog I can just smile and feel sorry for them that they still can't get over the fact : you are being sold for cheap by your party .. look inside yourself .. learn and grow
The time to discuss Palin's lack of intelligence and experience would have been before she was chosen as the vice presidential running mate. We got what we deserved for allowing this to happen. Who ever heard of Palin before this? Choosing her to try to get the Hillary votes was a huge mistake that we will be paying for until 2013.
Go ahead, take one last shot on Sarah and us Republicans. We're applying for protection under the Endangered Species Act tomorrow anyway.
By the way, I will support and respect our new president, just like I've supported and respected each president whose been in office during my lifetime. I do so because I love our country and I respect the office of the President; regardless whether or not I agree with his politics. It makes me wonder what would happen if every American would do that.
I've got my hand on my wallet because I'm not sure what the liberal freshman Senator from Illinois will do with the keys to the White House (and both houses of Congress), but that doesn't mean that I'll be spitting hate and venom at the man. OK, back to the Obama victory celebration with random hate-filled, disrespectful attacks on President Bush, etal.
at least now I know what was going on behind her facial expressions that night. She didn't look disappointed over the loss so much as she looked like a spoiled BRAT of a child whose parent had just scolded her. Sarah knew way in advance that there was a chance McCain was going to select her as his runnin' mate and she had plenty of time to study foreign policy and everything else she needed to study to be able to live up to McCain's confidence in her. At any rate anyone who can't handle an interview with Katie Couric of ALL people, needs to grow a set or go back home!!!
