McCain sources gripe about Palin

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/11/06/art.palin.ap.jpg caption="Some McCain advisers were frustrated by Palin."](CNN) - Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin had prepared to deliver a concession speech before John McCain’s Tuesday night — and brought her remarks with her to his Phoenix concession - but senior McCain campaign adviser Steve Schmidt told her she could not.

Two McCain sources say Palin clearly did not understand the protocol of a concession speech, and expected she would have the chance to deliver one of her own.

Update: Palin camp fires back

McCain advisers were also upset with the Alaska governor for setting up what she thought was a call from French President Nicolas Sarkozy. The call, which turned out to be a prank from Quebec radio hosts, was not cleared with the McCain campaign and some saw the effort to set it up as evidence of her future presidential ambitions.

A Palin ally involved in setting up the call, however, suggests McCain advisers had ample time to object given the call was on her schedule for three days.

Two McCain sources also say Palin did not know Africa was a continent and could not find it on a map. A third source, a Palin ally, says that was a miscommunication.

Palin isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. I do not like the manner in which she conducted herself during the campaign, but I do feel as though she is being unfairly blamed for the political demise of McCain and the GOP.

    To: John McCain,
Sara is the only reason some of the Republicans bothered to show up and vote. You gave us no reason to vote for you. When someone spoke against Obama they were condemed by you. Where are you now? Why are you not defending Sara as strongly as you defended Obama. You lost because you are a Rino not because of Sara.

    Palin 2012

Why does this woman attract such wrath and abuse.?? I think it may be because people are so angry that McCain and his advisers thought that they could offer such a shallow and inexperienced person to the general public and that they would buy it !! Thinking the electorate so ignorant and shallow that they would not notice that this woman was woefully inadequate. I would be angry too!!!!!

I have read these comments for a while and I see that most naysayers of Obama are still a little salty from his victory. I also know what every intelligent american knew about Sara Palin; thus the reason for the interview questions. I also know that because naysayers are not very intelligent and because they are a bit bigoted, racist and very one sided it's not worth reacting to their comments. I am just estatic about an Obama/Biden Presidency. America we are now in capable and steady hands. don't worry be happy.

Sounds like a bunch of odiots judging other idiots to me. It's sad that the entire nation based their decison on race and gender when a presidential election should be about the person who has the right experience and character. But please go on about how girlie or how old the candidates were if that makes you feel better. At least a minority has finally been given a chance. I'm sure it won't be long until the media starts trashing him too. It's funny how much people allow the media to control their decisions in life.

Don't have to come out and say it in public. We all knew long time ago. Where the hell is Tucker Bounds? Go and tell both Tucker & McCain how dumb she really is. You, Republicans, tried to turn the blind eye and failed to recognize the truth that she was dumb. So, suck it up and move on. If you guys spoke up against her earlier & ditched her, you may not lose that ugly. But will still lose for sure.

I feel so bad for her now! Why is the McCain camp blaming her for everything and ganging up on her like this?

    PS: I voted for Barack

Stop using this silly whisper campaign to discredit Governor Palin!

She is an authentic voice in America today mainly because she has walked the talk!

This seems to provoke the jealousy/fear that smells like more dirty politics! 🙁

Obama's second term campaign seems to be dovetailing right into his first term campaign!

The Dow dropping (and continuing to volatile) isn't an indication of Obama's ability to "manage the economy"; he hasn't even taken office yet! The Dow's volatility can be attributed to consumer sales reports, unemployment numbers, etc. And the fact that so many investors are wiennies (don't invest in stocks if you can't handle their up/down nature or can't afford to invest long term).

    Wow...this woman really is slow.

The economy is not falling because of Obama, but because of job reports. If you didnt notice this economy started its slide about 5 years ago! Republicans looking to blame again...sore losers!

That's absolutely ridiculous. Of course she knows Africa is a continent and where it is. (The rest, however...)

Hah... a "miscommunication" about whether Africa was a continent. They could have said it wasnt true but instead chose "miscommunication" which means she really didnt know where or what Africa was. How stupid do you have to be.

  22. Up here in Canada

In Canada, we are broadcast CNN along with all the other newsfeeds. We know as much (if not more) about the US, this election, its candidates, and your policies, than American citizens. We expect a VP candidate to at least know who our Prime Minister is. During the radio prank by Marc-Antoinne Audette, a comedian in Canada, he referenced PM of Canada Stef Cars. Sarah acknowledged the US enjoys very much working with him. Our PM is Stephen Harper. Sarah can`t blame the media for her lack of knowledge.

As a proud American patriot and lifelong liberal, I hope Sarah Palin never fades from the repub scene because this idiot woman represents everything that is wrong about the party of failure, incompetence and hatred. She will guarantee Democratic victories as long as she's around. However, I kind of think her political career is over, as she's really stupid.

    Obama Supporters,

Don't worry the old McCain will be back very soon. I heard that he has already apologized to Obama for running against him. In hopes of gaining a Cabinet Position.

And over at Foxnews, they're saying Sarah has been unfairly scapegoated haha... Hell, if McCain had booted her from the ticket when she started to go off-script on the campaign trail, he might have had a chance of closing the gap with Obama a bit. They may be pouring love all over the "Barracuda" in Wasilla, but I think anyone with an ounce of political realism can see that Palin was the biggest internal factor in sinking the GOP-ship. Despite the economy, with a modestly intelligent VP choice, we might have been looking at close totals and recounts in select states like in 2000 and 2004. So, thanks Sarah! For helping keep this race a clear, decisive split, too big for the GOP to manipulate and cheat its way through.
