McCain sources gripe about Palin

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Some McCain advisers were frustrated by Palin."](CNN) - Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin had prepared to deliver a concession speech before John McCain’s Tuesday night — and brought her remarks with her to his Phoenix concession - but senior McCain campaign adviser Steve Schmidt told her she could not.

Two McCain sources say Palin clearly did not understand the protocol of a concession speech, and expected she would have the chance to deliver one of her own.

Update: Palin camp fires back

McCain advisers were also upset with the Alaska governor for setting up what she thought was a call from French President Nicolas Sarkozy. The call, which turned out to be a prank from Quebec radio hosts, was not cleared with the McCain campaign and some saw the effort to set it up as evidence of her future presidential ambitions.

A Palin ally involved in setting up the call, however, suggests McCain advisers had ample time to object given the call was on her schedule for three days.

Two McCain sources also say Palin did not know Africa was a continent and could not find it on a map. A third source, a Palin ally, says that was a miscommunication.

Palin was thrust into the limelight clueless of what Washington insiders can do to outsiders. (I know my dad was in an appointed gov ernment position in the 70's). They can and do eat people alive.

In many respects I feel badly for her and yet I would like to think that even she might have had a clue how rough this would be.

She is best back in Alaska....The Republicans used her to rally the base and it backfired... They need to look in the mirror.

BTW: The market isn't crashing because of Obama being elected it is due to the numbers ie: retail sales and jobless claims......that started a long ime ago...and won't be fixed in a few days. So instead of blaming him educate yourselves on economic issues.

Marc PDX, you do realize that it was Fox News (network of the right) that reported last night that Palin didn't know which countries were in North America and didn't know that Africa was a continent and that South Africa was a country rather than a region.

Please let me say it again. Fox News. This is not a liberal news outlet dumping on Palin. These are the Republicans talking heads eating their own.

    Please think before you speak.

How can you do things on your own Palin. That is why we sent you packing. You need to learn to carry your young child as a baby and not a piece of garbage. People she don't need no children with any type of ailment. She discuss me carrying that child the way she do, as if he is nasty or she don't want to hold him.

She was bound to implode. She was a boneheaded pick by McCain, which exposed just one of his many weaknesses.

Let's hope it's the last we hear from Palin. She simply doesn't have the brains for the job. Beware, Republicans – you don't want that kind of stupidity running your party let alone the country.

Goofy - She is just this big goofball. She's like some of those people you'd like to forget from High School - not too intelligent but with lots of confidence. Good-bye Sarah. Please stay in Alaska.

"Smooth Barry, What have you done to the Market?"- Are you bored? Do you not have a life? I suggest you find one. Everyone knows that the market has nothing to do with OBAMA being elected. It's been plunging on and off for weeks now. Nice try though. Since your brain is trying to find something to do......why don't you call NASA and ask them how much they will charge you for a ONE-WAY trip to the moon.

With several articles today about Sarah Palin and Joe Lieberman, I searched back for articles on McCain picking a running mate. It is really interesting to read what people were thinking about leading up to events, like his choice. I found an article where the relative merits of McCain picking Joe Lieberman or Tom Ridge for VP were discussed. The far right were dead against either one, because both are pro-choice. Rush Blowhard chimed in talking about how it would be a fatal mistake to pick either of them, because they would alienate the Conservative base. So look at what happened. They chose Sarah Palin, who energized the base. The problem is, Conservatives must have thought that their base was much bigger than it is. While they energized their base, they alienated the vast majority of voters. Was any of this Sarah Palin's fault? No. Yes, she is vastly unqualified to be VP or President, but John McCain should have known that.

Nothing is ever John McCain's fault.

She wasnt that hard to vet.

Anyone saying that Obama is the cause for the dow dropping the last couple of days doesn't know much about the financial markets. The markets are respdonding to new reports on job losses, frozen credit markes, a retreating GDP. The markets are extremely volatile and they have been that way for months now.

Do American's honestly think we are in a post racial environment?

Could a black person be as a big of an idiot as Sarah Palin and even be considered for the Vice Presidency? I don't think so.

She thought Africa was a country ... this according to Fox news...

She couldn't name the 3 major countries in the NAFTA treaty. I'm sorry but I expect this basic level of knowldege in the executive branch.

I did not support McCain or Palin. She is far too naive for the White House (at this stage of the game, of course) and has no clue about protocol. That said, who are the McCain camaign advisors to gripe about anyone's shortcomings? These advisors were responsible for Palin's schedule and either dropped the ball on advising her not to take the call, or are trying to cover their collective rear ends after giving her the go-ahead without verifying the call was authentic. If the campaign advisors are worried about their furtures, they should look to their own incompetence and correct it.

    The Stupidity of the Republicans

I'm sorry, please, for once, tell me one positive thing that this administration has done? One positive thing? If you say we're safer than we were in 2001 that is nothing other than pure delusion. Clinton didn't catch Bin Ladin and he attacked in 2001. Bush didn't catch Bin Ladin, and if he attacks again, it won't be Obama's fault, it will be Bush's. If you think it is Obama's because he will be the sitting president than It's fair to blame Bush for the Worst Economic collapse of the century and the worst attack on our land in 200 years.

Either way Bush has done nothing good for this country. Even the social issues of abortion and gay marriage that Christians believe to be so important weren't stopped by George Bush.

Not one good thing did the Republicans do over the past 8 years.

Only the delusional people think otherwise.

With the campaign is over and lost, it's not surprising that most of the negative press about Gov. Palin is being generated not by Democrats or other detractors, but by the now defunct McCain campaign. To extend Palin's own metaphor, now that the pitbull has lost the dog fight, its handlers have to decided to take it out back and shoot it.

They where talking on O'Reilly and it was reported that Gov. Palin thought Africa was a counrty not a continent. They said that she did not understand the concept of a continent. It was also reported that she could not name the countries that makeup north american continent. Duh-Canada, US, and Mexico.

    She is soooooo dummmmmmmb!

    No so Smooth Barry,

Ur an idiot! Barack Obama is not in office and has no control over what's happening on Wall Street! This up and down has been going on since 9/15/08! More importantly, it has been happening for almost eight years while George W. Bush has been President! It took almost eight years for the economy to Crash! Now you expect President Elect – Barack Obama to fix the economy before he's even sworn in as President?! Even more importantly, when he does get in office, you expect the economy to just jump up 2,000 points and all of the 900,000 people all will have jobs again, Right!

I don't see how people could even relate to John McCain and vote for a man that has 9 houses and 13 cars, and tons of money.....things you don't have! He's a millionaire! He can't relate and wouldn't fight for any of us! He left his first wife hanging high and dry after a car accident to be with a woman with millions. Where's his ethics? If I was a Republican, I would have either voted for Barack Obama or a third party! I would have never voted for John McCain! He's an old, out of touch, idiot!

    Get a Life!
