Obama launches official transition Web site

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Barack Obama launched an official government Web site Thursday."]
(CNN) - Barack Obama launched the official government Web site for the presidential transition on Thursday, giving it a look and feel that suggests the new president will utilize the Internet to a much greater degree than his predecessor.

The site is a slightly more formal-looking incarnation of Obama’s campaign web site that features a blue-shaded presidential seal and a countdown clock to the Inauguration on January 20. There are biographies not only of Obama and Joe Biden, but also the directors of his transition team: John Podesta, Valerie Jarrett and Pete Rouse. The web site outlines Obama’s policy agenda, on issues from Iraq to social security to urban policy.

While the site lacks the innovative community organizing tools that helped propel the Illinois senator to the presidency, one section of the site does ask for user-generated content, asking Americans to submit stories about “what this campaign and this election means to you” and “where President-Elect Obama should lead this country.”

There is a transition blog, which at the moment only features a video of Obama’s Tuesday victory speech in Chicago’s Grant Park.

One link on the site is sure to get a flood of clicks: the “Jobs” section.

“All staff appointments chosen for this administration will be committed to fulfilling Obama’s campaign promises, to rebuilding our government, and to serving the American people again,” the site says.

O.K. President Obama let's get busy. The world is has witnessed the victory of positive change. Lets go in history as the best Presidents ever. Take your time and fix what the republicans have messed up. We will all help, just keep being visible and keep talking to us on the Micheal Basinden show. We are inviting you and your family to Baton Rouge, La. and the Biden family.

Do you mean Obama isn't going to conduct all meetings and conferences behind closed doors, then saunter out for a group photo op–and then complain about how the previous administration left the place a mess for them?

What a very big difference in leadership styles, and a breath of fresh air!!!

With no more Cheney private meetings, concealment of the peoples business–we will be reveling in the more open and communicatively engaged Executive arm of government.

This undoubtedly will not be posted but it needs to be said and also read: Obama will introduce Socialism into this nation. I am very afraid of America's future. If there can be so much election fraud how can we trust him and his Administration? I have seen evidence of voter fraud. How can anyone feel good about themselves when they have won largely by deception and subterfuge?

And isn't it nice that Michelle Obama can (again) find reason to be proud of her Country. Please! Give We the People a break because it will be the only one we will have in the next four years.

It's great that there is a website already. Obama is doing everything to keep in touch with the people. Kudos to him!
I must say that those who have left negative mails here (although you are free to express your opinion), are already not giving Obama a chance. This is only his 2 or 3rd day and he's not even president yet! Especially since he has made it clear he wants to bridge the gap between Democrats and Republicans.
I think if McCain had won, at least people would give him the benefit of the doubt. So I must ask, are you just racist or are you just sore losers? Personally I was undecided until a few weeks before the election. I would have voted for McCain if I thought his policies made sense or if he had picked some other person for VP. And if he won I would have supported the president because that's what Americans do.

I am proud to say that this registered republican voted for President Obama.

I've noticed that a handful of right-wing extremists have voiced their under-educated opinions above. It must be sad to see their ship of state (the republican party controlled by liars, hypocrits, the un-educated, and arrogant fools going down in flames). May their ashes blow in the wind. Now I can see where all the high-school dropouts went. Right into the Republcan and Conservative parties. Everything they say is negative and every thought they have is supplied by their right-wing puppet-masters.

My reregistration as an Independent is underway. Who knows, if Obama works out as well as I think he might, my next registration will be as a Democrat.

Meanwhile, the whole world is voicing their congratulations to the Untied States of America and their choice of Presidents.

To anyone who hasn't been able to pull up the site, and ESPECIALLY those who are saying "Typical political blather: over-promise and under-deliver."

PATIENCE. Tons of traffic all at once WILL gum up the works. Once everyone's not trying to look at it at the same time, the site WILL load.

    And it looks GREAT!

I'm so proud of the American people, especially of our young people, for getting out and voting for a man who will be the President of all Americans. I was so afraid justice would not prevail, but the people have spoken, and they spoke well and intelligently. A very heart-warming WELCOME to President Obama and family. You're in our thoughts, our prayers, and finally we have hope in all things. Not just hope for our economy, our relationship with other countries, our hope for peace, but also hope that all Americans will come together as one, united in patriotism and determination to make our country once again the greatest nation on earth.

From day one, the President-elect is bringing about real change and being inclusive. All who voted for Obama will look back on this time with great pride. They will be proud to know they voted for a real statesman, scholar, family man and leader.

    Yes we can!!!!!
