Calif. governor says he's allowed 'back into the bedroom'

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger says his wife has been 'gloating' about Barack Obama's win."]

(CNN) - Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said that even though his party didn’t win the presidential election, he has at least one thing to be happy about.

“I can get back into the bedroom, so there's the big advantage,” the California governor said Sunday on CNN’s “Late Edition.”

Schwarzenegger, a leading Republican, is married to Maria Shriver, a member of the very Democratic Kennedy clan.

Shriver endorsed Barack Obama in February, just days after her husband announced his support of John McCain.

Schwarzenegger said his wife has been “gloating now for these last few days” and running around the house with a life-size cutout of Obama saying, “We won.”

Striking a more serious tone, Schwarzenegger said he doesn’t see how any incumbent party could have held onto power this year, given the economic situation and the housing crisis.

“I think no one knew that it's going to be that bad. I think the Republicans were trying to hold on to, you know, if it would have been just the housing crisis or the mortgage crisis. But then when the stock market crash came, I think it was just too much,” he said.

Looking to the future, Schwarzenegger said that Democrats and Republicans should come together and avoid getting stuck in ideology.

“Democrats and Republicans should do everything they can to help [Obama] and his administration to be successful, because when he is successful … then the nation is successful. And then the world is successful. So, we've all got to work together on this,” he said.

This is a Reply to FRANCES SAYING:
"Why wasn't the America people helping make Bush successful? Seems
like if we are to help one president, no matter how unqualified, we should team up to help all Presidents."
Because GW Says "I" and Obama says "WE". Because GWB went to IRAQ regardless of UN and International Allies view point, and despite all Generals against all his 04 Strategy......

Jim, stop being bias. Remember who was in office when all this stuff hit the fan or are you so forgiving to the bush administration and the GOP. Please place the blame where it is supposed to be not where you think it's going to be in a few years. Geez, some people only research the other party not there own. (BIG MISTAKE) And btw, with McCains ties to Bush there was no way we where going to believe that he was going to be different.

It is surprising, yet commendable , that Schwartzneggar (Arnold) is now extending courtesies to Barack Obama. I was scandalized last Sunday when he campaigned with McCain, and commented on Obama's lean figure and compared the thinness of Obama's figure to his policies.

Of course his comments were petty and malicious, and I don't believe that Obama would want to go to Arnold's Gym to develop his figure. We, and his wife Michelle prefer .Barack the way he is

" . . . Democrats and Republicans should come together and avoid getting stuck in ideology".

    . . . BUT . . .

. . . will Arnold tell that to right-wing extremist like Rush Limbaugh, who called newly pick Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel and President-Elect Barack Obama "Chicago Thugs" within 36-hours of Obama-Biden winning the election.

Out of curiosity, I am wondering why the person named Jim keeps interjecting his misinformation. Is he one of the out-of-it Republicans that keeps trying to blame others for the problems they have caused? He and others like him need to wake up and try to figure out what happened in case they get the chance to avoid problems in the future.

Arnold: If you get invited to the Inaugural events BECAUSE of Maria, apologize to President elect Obama. Humility is in this year. It looks good on everyone.

I used to think that the Terminator showed promise. That was before he commented that Obama was scrawny. There are many ways to put across your argument but trying to get one across by belittling others shows the weakness of the individual making the argument.

Sorry, instead of Republicans I should have said Conservatives. Not all Republicans are today's version of Conservatives. There are a few decent Republicans left, and hopefully they can reclaim the Republican Party – or maybe create a New Republican party. The religious kooks who want to rule (not govern) like today's neocons should also not be allowed to join.

It is commendable that Schwartzeneggar believes that Democrats and Republicans must cooperate for the good of the country. This is a remarkable change from his crticism of Obama's figure and making a comparison of Obama's lean figure and his policies. It would appear that the electorate liked Obama's figure and policies why he had such a large number of Electoral votes.

i find it hilarious so many democrats making fun of arnold.
the guy has twice been elcted govenor of a notoriously liberal state.if you think he can do that and still be some cartoonishly dumb bodybuilder, then hes clearly not the one whos dumb.

maybe the reason things arent going so well in california is because everytime he brings forth an idea the democrats shut it down.

successful in bodybuilding, acting, business and now in politics, whilst all the time people have written him off as a fool.

hes clearly had the last laugh.good article from him by the way.

Thankyou Govenor, thankyou for saying what needs to be said, that President-elect Obama must succeed for all of us to succeed in this incredible and unprecedented downturn. My candidate lost the election, but my country won by having a seemless and successful democratic election that once again shows the world that our American democratic principals are well grounded and working superbly. I'm proud of this, I'm proud to be an American, I'm proud that we have a new President, he may not be my choice, but he's our President all the same and I support him. The election of an African-American as an issue in the election I find to be disconcerting, as I'm not concerned with race or color, and I find it a bit trite that some would inject this into the process as if the majority of American are still living in the 50's. We as Americans won, and the Democratic Party was successful in placing the candidate of their choice in the White House on January 20, 2009 to embody their ideology and put forth their agenda. Bravo, bravo, we and my fellow Republicans did this in 2000 and we put forth our idealogy and agenda then. Weither or not you agree with the results of the last years is a matter of choice, but surely you will have the opportunity to state your opinion again in
2012 and 2016. That's how it works and has been working for some 200 years, so let's just revel in our American Democracy and live and let live for another 200 years and beyond.

Arnold, I think you will find that the new administration will be by far more attentive to government business than most of the Old guard Republicans that you have been part of. President elect Obama has proven to you that he doesn't need brawn, rather he just needed to be smart.

His campaign hoodwinked the McCain campaign by saying at a late moment that he would not take public money for the election.

This was a brilliant strategy that allowed him to raise much more campaign funds than MacCain sould spend by the rules.

I seems to be a small fib compared to all of the lies John and Sarah through at President Elect Obama.

The good thing is Obama did not attack their characters.

    So go do your workout.
