(CNN) –Sources tell CNN’s Ed Henry and John King Barack Obama has chosen Eric Holder as his nominee for Attorney General.

Holder has accepted the position but must still undergo a vetting process by the Obama transition team.

If confirmed, Holder will become the first African-American to hold the position.

He served as deputy attorney general under Bill Clinton

Newsweek first reported the story.

He can't be any worse than Ashcroft. Hopefully the vetting process will include a specific investigation as to his stand on the preservation of our freedoms which have been eroded these past 8 years. . .

Was this the best choice? I am concerned that Obama is choosing a lot of ex-Clinton staff. Surely there are new, up and coming Dems who could fill at least some of the positions, and he promised to include Repubs in his cabinet as well.

How unusual, an appointee from the Clinton Administration. Webster needs to change the definition of "change".

President Elect Obama is very smart to surround himself with people from the Clinton administration.

What is taking him so long to nominate Hillary for State?
