(CNN) –Sources tell CNN’s Ed Henry and John King Barack Obama has chosen Eric Holder as his nominee for Attorney General.
Holder has accepted the position but must still undergo a vetting process by the Obama transition team.
If confirmed, Holder will become the first African-American to hold the position.
He served as deputy attorney general under Bill Clinton
Newsweek first reported the story.
Yes.......its a new dawn.............
Looks like those who voted for Obama voted for Clinton III.
If I would have known Obama was going to choose all of former Clinton aides, I would have voted for Hillary!
Another Democrat (and another leftover from the Clintons). Where's the "bipartisan administration" he kept talking about having?
And here are the right-wingers foaming at the mouth...
If he chose neophytes you would complain that the nominees would not know anything about the job.
He chooses experienced people and now, there isn't enough "change". He is not choosing his own personal lawyer, he is choosing the Attorney General....the highest representative of law in the country.
Should he not choose someone who can do the job?
NO MORE "VERTERANS" FROM THE CLINTON ADMINISTRATION!!!! I know GWB picked a bunch of reaganites...but please....

Am I the only one who thinks the coincidental word spacing in this Political Ticker article borders on hilarious?
Also, congrats to Mr. Holder.
Yeah this is change. were moving right back in time. 8 years ago to the clinton era one man at a time. Obama is proving he has no Idea what he is doing, and needs those who did it already to show him the ropes.
So this is change. We already had this administration in. Going back to those years in politics is no better than being in the one we are now. Same ole washington bull.. You have all been B.S'd
What exactly wrong with Clinton people? Do you expect him to hire Bush people? Clinton's people left this country with budget surplus, prospering economy and effective foreign policy, I wish republicans could boast the same.
This guy is family to my family in Barbados! Another Holder doing great things!
It's curious that he can announce that he is picking his friend Eric before he finishes vetting but that he wouldn't extend that courtesy to Senator Clinton. It seems like he is drawing out the Clinton appointment just to torture Bill – go ahead and name Hillary and get on with it. PS I think they should let the car manufacturers go into Bankruptcy because they will never be viable with all their union and dealership contracts and obligations no matter how inovative they agree to be – just have keep at least one manufacturer up and running so they can make emergency equipment if needed for national security. Switching back to the cabinet so far I think it should look like this: Eric for Attorney General – Hillary for Sec of State – Colin Powell -I can't decide if he should be Sec of Defense or Sec of Education since he's been doing educational work lately.
WOO-WOO!
ERIC WILL MAKE A FINE AG. AND HAS BEEN WITH OBAMA FOR A VERY LONG TIME, EVEN SELECTING BIDEN AS VP!
Good choice, I hope he (and the rest of Obama's administration) does well. 🙂
Gen. Wesley Clarke for Sec. of Defense!

Oh, give me a break. CHANGE does not necessarily mean change in people but a CHANGE in policy and how Washington works is REAL CHANGE! Geez, you people need to lay off.
I suspect most of the people commenting negatively were not Obama supporters. Just because soemone worked in some capacity in the Clinton Administration does'nt make them a "Clinton" person.
Change comes from Obama and the strtegy and policy he sets, and others carry out. Not the other way around.
Hey, he looks like me.
Funny how all you clowns dumping on Obama for choosing "qualified" folks always look for a way to complain. I'm sure that you're all the same "smart" ones that voted for Bush twice and wanted Palin in office. Guess what? ..now that we've had it your way for 8 years...give someone else a chance since you're picks clearly are always wrong!
To Folks Whining About "No Change":
One Strategy: Pick experienced people, and the only way to get experience is to have been part of some other administration at some other time.
Other Strategy: Go to Alaska and pick a maverick.
For me, Obama's choices make sense so far...
If he didn't pick someone with experience – i.e. from the Clinton administration, you'd all be criticizing Obama for not having experience and not picking people with -- experience.
So, you will criticize Obama no matter who he chooses, which is why I can ignore your criticism, sit back, drink my latte, and enjoy life. It is great to be an American. A real American with a president in whom I can take pride.
a good taxi driver knows his way around DC too.. doesn't mean he qualifies to be the AG
Good choice. If McCain had won, he'd being picking Bush people. Gobama.
I've read up on him – he's a capable choice. Congrates! Looks like Obama is going for the best team ever. Let's get to work!
Just because it may be some of the same people so far does not mean it's going to be the same policies people. They may have worked in a Clinton administration, but this will be an Obama administration and I am quite sure he will run things differently than Billy did.
