Pritzker NOT a Candidate for Commerce Secretary

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption=" Penny Pritzker was national finance chairwoman for Barack Obama's presidential campaign."]CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) - Chicago businesswoman Penny Pritzker said Thursday that she is not a candidate for Secretary of Commerce in the administration of President-elect Barack Obama.

Pritzker said she "never submitted any information for the vetting process to begin" and that "while there were discussions, I was never formally offered the position.

"I have obligations here in Chicago that make it difficult for me to serve at this time."

Pritzker was Obama's national campaign finance chairwoman and had been mentioned as the leading candidate to become Obama's Secretary of Commerce. She is the chairwoman of TransUnion, a national credit-reporting agency.

In a written statement her office issued Thursday, she said, "I think I can best serve our nation in my current capacity: building businesses, creating jobs and working to strengthen our economy."

Pritzker noted that "it has been my great privilege to serve in the Obama campaign. I look forward to helping our new president in every way possible and am excited about the future under his leadership."

She is so wise, because GMA, Fox, CNN, National Inquirer, and who knows who else will go as far back as when she was 3 yrs old, and stole a cookie from the cookie jar, and use it against her! But they'll keep a straight face and call it 'vetting'. LOL!!!

Which is why none of this should be speculated on until Obama himself confirms his appointees.

So what was once confirmed is now a NO? Ok, I want everyone in the media to go have a drink for a job well done. Oh, and I am tired of people whinning about Obama picking all people Clinton. It was not too long ago I was hearing "oh Obama coming with Chicago people to take over washington". So which is it should he go and hire people he does not know?

Obama needs to start firing people over these leaks. It's ridiculous how much information, true or false, is coming out without approval.

And the press gets it so wrong ... again. The National Enquirer starts to look more reputable by the moment.

As usual the media getting ahead of itself and "making up the news" instead of reporting the news.

Ok – so all the news agencies got this one wrong without a doubt. Now – let's speculate on someone else. Or we can wait until all these choices are official....

What about some progressives, or Republicans if you can find a knowledgeable one, or someone else in private practice outside of the Clinton loop!

I believe the leaks have purposely been coming from the Obama people to test the waters on the people mentioned. Of course the media will blame the leaks as coming from Hillary. That is because they can't stand the idea that perhaps Obama's people would be causing the leaks!!

They want to see just how people will react to his choices before going ahead and actually naming said person.

I feel Hill will be a great SOS and I also think Obama has put himself in the position of having to pick her now (whether or not he really wants to) since Bill has agreed to do everything asked of him.

I guess the "top aides" gave the incorrect information. However, they were already complaining that she had no experience. A far cry from yesterday when they were complaining that Obama was using experienced people.......politics....I'll never understand. What I do know is that you can't please EVERYONE!

    Just google Penny Pritzker.

This lady was neck deep in subprime loans, and was quite proud of it until her bank went under.

Do some research, think for yourselves.

This lady was one of Obama's close friends, yet another "friend" with a rather questionable and dubious background.

All political campaigns purposely link items to the press, generally to test out the waters and gauge media and public interest. Things that are meant to be kept secret have generally been kept under wraps by his heavily guarded circle of senior advisors. So, I wouldn't use a potential cabinet-post leak to point to any incompetency or missteps in leadership. Leaks are calculated tactical actions.

    @ Simmy-

You need to get a grip. Go back 10 years and you will find more than ample reasons why Ms Pritzker should have no place in public service

reason number 1: She ran her bank into the ground, due to her EXTREME support of SUBPRIME loans.

Do your homework, you make yourself look like an idiot spouting off about things you obviously know little about. I'm surprised I didn't see the name "Bush" or the phrase "The past 8 years" appear in your comment.

Your useless commentary brings little to the debate. Step it up, crack the books and do your homework before you speak.

Here's a little blip from the Chicago Sun Times:

"Pritzker wrote in May 2001 that her family was recapitalizing the bank, and she pledged to "once again restore Superior's leadership position in subprime lending." The bank shut down in July 2001."

    'Nuff said.

This is one of The Messiah's close friends.

And you sheeple thought you voted for change..... hahahahaha.
