(CNN) - It’s the ultimate holiday photo-op for any governor: the yearly pardoning of a turkey to spare it from demise days before Thanksgiving.
But former Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin is causing a stir for an interview she gave after pardoning an Alaska turkey Thursday, during which one bird was being slaughtered in the background.
Palin appeared unaware of what was going on directly behind her, though she did seem to take a glance at the unfortunate event at one particular point during the interview.
"It's nice to support a local business and just participate in something that isn't so heavy handed politics that invites criticism," Palin said during the interview. "Certainly will probably invite criticism for even doing this too, but at least it was fun."
"I am always in charge of the turkey so I am where I need to be today to prepare for that," she also said.

Seriously? This is the best news you can put out there? WHO THE HELL CARES!?!?! The turkey was going to die if Palin was there or not...I am sure there are more pressing stories out there.
When it rain, it pours...She knew full well what was going on. They told her what was going on behind her, and she dismissed it and told them that she was fine. You they wanted her as Vice President...Thank God for devine intervention!!!
Yea yea we all know where our turkeys come from. The point of this story is the discussion vs the environment it takes place in. It would be like introducing a new hybrid in front of a spewing oil well. More experienced politicians.... or celebrities if you like... understand where an interview is given and politely ask that it should be moved if it interferes with their image. And make no mistake, image is important for all politicians.
No one wants to talk about the stock market, because since the annointed one was elected the market has really gone in the tank. When the Gov. take over everything there will no longer be public trading anyway so whats the stock market matter?
Are you kidding causing a stir???? How many millions will eat turkey next Thursday give me a break. Maybe the Dems. should start being vegetarians as most of the officials do look a bit hefty.
Who cares? Is this all you have to report. Get a real job.
You folks need to take a good hard look at yourselves when you dive into that turkey dinner next week. WHERE DO YOU THINK THAT COMES FROM? Say what you want, but at least Gov. Palin lives in the land of REALITY...
you can't leave this woman alone can you? I guess Obama and his family are not so interesting.
I do not know how you guys , journalists, can deal with this...don't you
have anything else to do that looking for this type of news.....
Go back to school and improve your career and deal with other
type of news that we, people can learn from you..TO ALL.CNN CREW:
go and look for other subjects !!!!!!!!!!!!!! time is a treasure....
Christina
She is just like the turkey. No head an either one.
When will we people stop watching this train wreck?
This was awesome, the guy in the background was hilarious. Who cares it is a dumb bird, you people are dumb. How do you think turkeys get to the dinner table? Hahahaha, liberals are so predictable.
The media needs to focus on the real issues. Palin is over and done and I am sure she wants to be done, too. All this unnececessary attention to her every move is absolutely ridiculous. CNN -keep us updated on what matters. Sorry turkey, this is not news.
Leave it to Palin to turn me off of turkey on Thanksgiving.
Who handles this lady's media?
Palin: "Don't mind the turkey execution behind me. Lets talk policy."
I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
I used to want to visit Alaska but ever since Palin appeared on the scene I have no desire to go there-–they gotta be all stupid to vote this idiot as the Gov. of the state.
She described the experience as "fun". Yeah, that sort of thing probably is fun for those types that think nothing of slaughtering animals! I guess the turkeys are the fortunate ones since they aren't run to exhaustion and then shot from helicopters like her Alaskan wolves.
This is one of the most ridiculous ticker made by CNN…does this really warrant any attention, mostly when you claim that Palin was not even seeing the scene? Don’t you have any important message to the American people rather than instigate all the idiots who respond with hate to these comments?
This is a woman who hunts animals and guts them. What's a turkey being slaughtered to her?
If you eat turkey you either have to kill it yourself or have someone kill it for you. I can't, for the life of me, understand why people are even talking about this. It's a TURKEY FARM. The animals don't die on their own, peacefully in their sleep. Welcome to the real world.
If This lady had been elected maybe we would start getting some answers as to who's running the ship. This was another great propaganda story. Excuse me Gov can I have a shot to degrade you some. What is real is the trust she has that we – they will do her fair. Course we are all finding out the worlds unfair and speaking up is the only way it will not come back at Ya! Guess we need those manager and spot directors that the Dems have to get THE REAL STORY.
I'm no Sarah Palin fan, but this is idiotic. Where do you think that the turkey comes from that you eat on Thanksgiving? Slaughtering animals for food is a part of normal life! You think that showing where our food comes from on TV is something bad? Ridiculous.
Ms. Palin is a stupid as stupid can be. Why the media even bothers to cover her this brainless woman.
THIS IS JUST PROOF THAT THIS WOMAN IS TOTALLY CLUELESS TO HER SURROUNDINGS, AND HOPEFULLY SHE WILL EITHER BE IMPEACHED AS GOVERNOR OF ALASKA, OR JUST LOSE THE NEXT ELECTION.
SHE NEEDS TO FADE AWAY IN THE NORTHERN LIGHTS ......
Perhaps unfortunate timing, but for the love of PETA, we all must realize that in order to enjoy our scrumptious turkey dinner, this is what must happen. plenty of fodder for the finger-pointers...
When is THAT TURKEY get off the news ! Please.
