Palin interview causes stir

(CNN) - It’s the ultimate holiday photo-op for any governor: the yearly pardoning of a turkey to spare it from demise days before Thanksgiving.
But former Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin is causing a stir for an interview she gave after pardoning an Alaska turkey Thursday, during which one bird was being slaughtered in the background.
Palin appeared unaware of what was going on directly behind her, though she did seem to take a glance at the unfortunate event at one particular point during the interview.
"It's nice to support a local business and just participate in something that isn't so heavy handed politics that invites criticism," Palin said during the interview. "Certainly will probably invite criticism for even doing this too, but at least it was fun."
"I am always in charge of the turkey so I am where I need to be today to prepare for that," she also said.

WHAT WAS SHE THINKING? If my small kids had been in the room and had seen that they would be horrified. They are too young fo me to try and explain the whole slaughtering process. How can someone be that clueless?
Why would this be hard for people to watch all of the sudden? What do you think is on your plate each Thanksgiving?? Billions of animals are slaughtered each year for consumption, clothing, etc. Maybe the point is...if it bothers you...maybe you should consider not eating meat or wearing animal skin/fur/feathers??!! Seems like a simple fix to me. 🙂 I stopped eating animals 13 years ago and I feel so good about that decision.

The election is over, everyone knows that Palin is an idiot, and now the media needs to let her slip back into the oblivion she came from. She is bad for politics and extremely bad for this country. Imagine what the state of this country would be under a Palin administration. Granted, Bush has done a horrendous job in his 8 years, and as hard as it is to imagine, it would be worse under Palin. I truly think it would be the total distruction of this country. It's sad that there are so many ignorant people that like her, it really gives a telling tale as to the intelligence of this country. It's a real eye opener as to how important a good education is for America. Enough of Palin!!!

Palin seems to have taken some glee away from the slaughter. You don't have to be vegetarian or vegan to appreciate and respect the life that was taken to feed you. To joke about it as she did is callously disrespectful.

Was the turkeys family notfied? Was that turkey the sole breadwinner for the family? How many under age turkey children were left behind?
What will happen to the dead turkey? When and where is the funeral?
I want to be there to eat a turkey sandwich and show my support. Someone should start a help fund so we can donate money for the turkey family, maybe a candlelight vigil?

Inappropriate is the only word I can come up with to describe this event. I could only imagine what the white house would be like if she were in it. Thank God that didn't happen.

That turkey being killed is symbolic of the McCain campaign which she helped to kill...
Or it may be symbolic of her political career which will never go further than governor of Alaska, where she really does not do much expect attend ice sculpting events and snowmobile races, and is only poular because she increased the amount that Alasakans receive every year for oil windfalls.
Oh she knew what she was doing. I think it is hilarious. If you eat meat you know they have to die somehow. If you are a meat eater (like myself) how can you be offended? This video isn't going to stop me from stuffing my face full of turkey this holiday season. Heck i am going to eat ham as well. Just be glad she didn't pardon a ham!! lol
