(CNN) - It’s the ultimate holiday photo-op for any governor: the yearly pardoning of a turkey to spare it from demise days before Thanksgiving.
But former Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin is causing a stir for an interview she gave after pardoning an Alaska turkey Thursday, during which one bird was being slaughtered in the background.
Palin appeared unaware of what was going on directly behind her, though she did seem to take a glance at the unfortunate event at one particular point during the interview.
"It's nice to support a local business and just participate in something that isn't so heavy handed politics that invites criticism," Palin said during the interview. "Certainly will probably invite criticism for even doing this too, but at least it was fun."
"I am always in charge of the turkey so I am where I need to be today to prepare for that," she also said.

Don't ever mess with a Turkey Mom!!!!
Clueless again, or still??
if palin were vice president....
upside: it would be the funniest thing to ever happen on our planet.
downside: our plantet would explode.
"I am always in charge of the turkey so I am where I need to be today to prepare for that,"
Huh? If only I could understand her lingo... Must be a small town thing.
For all the clowns who feel sorry for poor Sarah, she was told what was happening behind her and had a choice to change background scenes but she was so busy talking in circles as usually and wanted to stay where she was....She's a complete idiot. I don't feel sorry for her. She continues to make a fool of herself just for attention. What's even more tragic is that the Alaskan Dude is probably saying "honey you were great".....
It's not just her fault. I can't believe that anyone...the cameraman...interviewer...etc...would have allowed her to be shot for the interview this way. Morons...all of them.
Why is this not surprising, coming from a dimwit like her?
Is she still here?
She has to get another publicist. Having a press conference in front of a turkey killing station is wild. Unless she does not want to let go of her fleeting fame, so I guess her publicist did well after all.
Greg,
I sure do pray she runs so Obama will have an easy re-election. You keep cheering for her...
Give me that turkey!! You Palin criticizers dont get a turkey this thanksgiving!
Maybe if she goes home and get her inept mouth closed we would not have such hilirous fonder to bash her and laugh at her. Don't blame us when she acts like an idiot and we respond. This is America the joke capital of the WORLD....we LOVE LOVE LOVE our comedians.
Cody,
"Who cares?! Why has this woman done to elicit such hatred and hostility from so many people, especially the press? Can you all relax now, you got your way, McCain/Plain lost. Since the electin, the stock market has continued to crash, but Obama is still going to be our saviour, so just get over Palin already."
Do you really need me to explain why her condescending attitude, the complete lies she told, her horrible interviews, and her lack of knowledge on current issues and world affairs make me (and many, many other Americans) sick?
BTW...Did you attend the same college(s) she did? I like your creative use of grammar and spelling.
Oh, finally, the President-Elect can't do anything about the economy yet. He hasn't been sworn in. Where is your president (W)? Does he know he is still in office, or did he take another vacation?
Was that "Joe the Turkey Killer" in the background?. OH MAN!!, this is a good sketch for SNL. I can't wait to see Tina Fey. They should have former senator stevens in that machine and then feed him to the republicans.
She never speaks in complete or grammatically correct sentences. This person could have been our next VP!
She probably did that on purpose to try to get back into the limelight. She knows that it's over for her.
CNN is TRASH for even talking about this crap!!
thank you president george w. bush for keeping america safe.
Please, give the negative coverage of CNN a rest till 2012 will ya.
Anything for a photo op....although you have to admit, this one's pretty funny. LOL
It is the responsiblity of the press to have voters make truly informed decisions on who they vote for. This article is just an example of the level of depth the press feels the public can handle. No matter who anyone votes for, it is important to make that vote truly count and not have it based of fluff.
Hey "blaising" have you ever read one of Obama's transcripts?????
You have got to be kidding me! Uh...duh...uh...uh..er...er....er..uh...you know....uh..uh..er....
This should not be an item of interest. Where do you think food comes from? Is the media so disconnected from reality that this is a news worthy event?
Some folks here aren't well informed:
The camera crew was not from CNN, it was from a local station KTUU-TV .
Also, Palin was informed by the station videographer what was going on behind her, but she continued yacking. Remember: she's "pro-life", except when it comes to shooting, killing, and slaughtering animals.
Once that camera light is on, she's the center of the universe and doesn't care about anything else but herself. Thank God she's back in Alaska and not in Washington!
The only thing I can figure is that you liberal pin-heads are so afraid of "Sarah Palin 2012" that you feel like you must keep reporting what you see as negative "non-stories" about her. why are you so scared? Is not the world going to be better now that we have an "Obamanation?
