Palin interview causes stir

(CNN) - It’s the ultimate holiday photo-op for any governor: the yearly pardoning of a turkey to spare it from demise days before Thanksgiving.
But former Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin is causing a stir for an interview she gave after pardoning an Alaska turkey Thursday, during which one bird was being slaughtered in the background.
Palin appeared unaware of what was going on directly behind her, though she did seem to take a glance at the unfortunate event at one particular point during the interview.
"It's nice to support a local business and just participate in something that isn't so heavy handed politics that invites criticism," Palin said during the interview. "Certainly will probably invite criticism for even doing this too, but at least it was fun."
"I am always in charge of the turkey so I am where I need to be today to prepare for that," she also said.

Why is she still in the news at all? I heard a teaser on the news this morning "Who is Sarah Palin's favorite Baldwin brother?"....WHO CARES? Stop filming her, I'm tired of of it.

First of all, CNN wasn't running the camera.
The cameraman actually asked her if she wanted to be interviewed against that backdrop. She replied, "No worries."
Whether or not people are unreasonably squeamish about it, you just don't see animals being slaughtered on TV because people find such images offensive.
Sarah was completely oblivious to the aesthetics of the scene. She was in control, and chose to be interviewed against that backdrop, so it's entirely fair to find her responsible for the way it turned out.

BTW for you less intelligent folks that didnt get it- this not a CNN story and it is on all websites even FOXNEWS as a big story because most people can easily see the irony of it. It's amazing that all of these liberals come out of the woodwork and attack anyone they can when the press is finally starting to report that Obama is already failing. His staff has been at work for days trying to minimize expectations after realizing that most of the campaign promises were lies, and the more Obama fails, the more the Republicans will be blamed.

You are a bunch of mean people. This is an interview a local TV station did. It is the job of the producer and cameraman to shoot this, not her media people.
Well, where do they think the Thanksgiving turkey comes from? This is a good wake up call to those who might think the plucked and packaged bird they defrost "comes that way." This bird in the photo obviously was once a beautiful creature with fantastic plumage. Get a grip. This is a big country, and there are millions of turkeys being eaten on Thanksgiving Day. That's a lot of feathers left behind.
Why don't people ever understand that these are blog posts – they're meant to be biased and quick. They're not unbiased news articles.

hhhmmmmmm.... a turkey being slaughtered....at a turkey slaughter-house.... just before Thanksgiving. Most of us will have a big, dead, honkin' turkey on our tables next Thursday...

What do people think happens to the turkey they eat? If you eat meat, shut up. Although she was an idiot to have the turkey killed behind her when she was on camera. But I don't remember too many people trying to claim Palin being the smartest trukey in the group.
I can't stand Palin anymore than the next guy. I wish she would just go away. That said, you can't fault her for this... turkey's are food. People who eat turkey on thanksgiving (or meat on any day of the year) need to face the facts that they are a food source. She grew up in Alaska, what do you expect.
For God's sake, get off this woman's back and let her govern her State of Alaska! MSNBC's Chris Matthews criticized her loudly for her use of the word GODDDDD....(his emphasis) in an interview, and for the past several nights it's become clear that David Letterman couldn't have a show were it not for his invoking Mrs. Palin's name and talking about her sex appeal. Then almost every blog is critical of her. Why is this? I simply didn't find her that different from all the other political operatives and certainly don't find the turkey business worthy of a separate blog piece. So I would welcome a respite from stories about her, and just wish for this very attractive woman and her family a Happy Thanksgiving. Period!!!
Governors and U.S. Presidents pardon turkeys all the time; that is nothing new. What is new, however, is having someone pardon a turkey while other turkeys in view are being slaughtered. Sarah needs to do a better job in controling her photo opportunities. They have become a laughing stock for most Americans. She could have at least ask them to stop while she gave the interview or move away so that the camera does not capture the killing of turkeys in the background.

People aren't upset that turkeys were being prepared for consumption. The problem is that it made her look like a backwoods hick especially with the guy mugging for the camera in the background. Surely she could have had the photo op set up somewhere else beside a bloody basin.
Palin is soooooooooo unaware of EVERYTHING around her. I swear I think she is from Mars. If I don't have to hear that screechy voice of hers again, I think I can recover from Palinmania. Thank God it was a brief run. Whew.
