Palin interview causes stir

(CNN) - It’s the ultimate holiday photo-op for any governor: the yearly pardoning of a turkey to spare it from demise days before Thanksgiving.
But former Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin is causing a stir for an interview she gave after pardoning an Alaska turkey Thursday, during which one bird was being slaughtered in the background.
Palin appeared unaware of what was going on directly behind her, though she did seem to take a glance at the unfortunate event at one particular point during the interview.
"It's nice to support a local business and just participate in something that isn't so heavy handed politics that invites criticism," Palin said during the interview. "Certainly will probably invite criticism for even doing this too, but at least it was fun."
"I am always in charge of the turkey so I am where I need to be today to prepare for that," she also said.

Where do you think Thanksgiving turkeys come from? Are you blaming Palin for the fact that Americans eat Thanksgiving turkey? They're being killed by the thousands as we write. Just because you usually can't see it, doesn't mean it's not happening. Grow up.

I actually think it's great that this video is getting so much attention and I hope a lot of children get to see it too. that way they will actually know how the turkeys died. I think if the world were shown more of these clips e.g. the slaughtering of cows, how goose liver pate is made, where veal comes from etc etc I'm sure we'd have more vegetarians and vegans roaming the planet.

OMG is right! It's like Jethro behind her was wanting to wait until after the interview was over – so he just stands there – spittin' his chaw – and then someone yells at him to get back to work – and then he chops that first one. Is she really there to pick out her turkey for her family – i mean at the end, she says that she's responsible for the turkey and that's why she's there. Don't they have an Albertson's or something - or at least a store front adjacent to the turkey killing zone to buy them?
How about a video of babies being killed....anyone get upset about that....? That's what I thought.

Get real people. The camera man choose that angle not Gov Palin. If you notice, what is going on is not behind her but off to the side. She was specifically shot at that angle on purpose. She does not have her back to what is going on and instead of a straight on, close up, what did they shoot. They included that turkey slaughter on purpose to make her look bad. Yes, turkeys die for Thanksgiving if you are shocked by that, Grow Up. But if you think she can tell from where she is standing what the camera is filming, you are creditting her with powers beyond eyes in the back of her head.
And more than one professional reporter has been caught on a stupid video show because of something dumb like this and they plan camera angles and shots for a living.
Sarah Palin is an idiot!!! What makes her an idiot is she is standing there giving this inteview and speaking about how much fun it is to be there. OMG she is crazy!! I am so thankful this year that she is not our VP and McCain is not our President. We americans should all be thankful for that!!!
People-she pardoned "a" turkey not all of them. The irony of "pardoning" of turkeys plays second fiddle once people get a grasp of reality and understand how their dinner is prepared. I CANNOT believe the media could be this petty. The fact that Palin agreed to the interview by saying "no worries" suggests she thought that the American people could handle and understand that she was in TURKEY FARM. Only the most hypersensitive and immature people would make this a big issue.

I see the point "Giver her a break" makes about the interviewer and the camera man. Clearly they were aware of the spectacle. Shouldn't someone from the Governor's entourage have noticed as well? Considering how important Sarah Palin might be to the Republican Party, wouldn't she make public appearances in the company of PR person who is paid to notice these things?
