Palin interview causes stir

(CNN) - It’s the ultimate holiday photo-op for any governor: the yearly pardoning of a turkey to spare it from demise days before Thanksgiving.
But former Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin is causing a stir for an interview she gave after pardoning an Alaska turkey Thursday, during which one bird was being slaughtered in the background.
Palin appeared unaware of what was going on directly behind her, though she did seem to take a glance at the unfortunate event at one particular point during the interview.
"It's nice to support a local business and just participate in something that isn't so heavy handed politics that invites criticism," Palin said during the interview. "Certainly will probably invite criticism for even doing this too, but at least it was fun."
"I am always in charge of the turkey so I am where I need to be today to prepare for that," she also said.

I've got to say it - the more this woman talks, the more I laugh. I just wish it was a "funny" kind of laugh instead of a "pathetic" kind of laugh. This woman so utterly clueless.

Sarah Palin isn't what's so confusing here. What's confusing is why CNN thinks there's something wrong with killing turkeys a week before Thanksgiving or why Sarah Palin should be blamed for it. She is pardoning a turkey. Where do you pardon a turkey? You pardon it at a farm where they kill turkeys, DUH. And obviously that means being surrounded by other turkeys being killed because you're only pardoning one turkey, not all of them. Use your heads, people.
Oh come on! It's not like they grow on trees! There's a reason we're higher than turkeys on the food chain.
On a lighter note, I'd like to nail the governess.
wOW what's the big deal? It may not have been the most delicate planning for an interview but you have to a kill turkeys before you eat him- I think this "uproar" that is being reported proves just how far from the farm our society is these days it really is kind of lame
This is just another example of her stupidity. She can't even conceive of being PC enough that she doesn't yammer on in front of the butchering... Can anyone doubt that she said/did some of the really dumb stuff after seeing what her idea of a great photo opp is???
Her kind of publicity is actually great for the Republican party – they are gathering plenty of ammo WHY she should NOT be a future candidate for anything – not even Alaska Gov.
That is so horrible. Was the turkeys family notfied? Was that turkey the sole breadwinner for the family? How many under age turkey children were left behind?
What will happen to the dead turkey? When and where is the funeral?
I want to be there to eat a turkey sandwich and show my support. Someone should start a help fund so we can donate money for the turkey family, maybe a candlelight vigil?

Can someone tell me how a turkey is supposed to die for us so we can eat it? What is the big deal people?. Leave the governor alone. Where all these meat come from in the supermarket? Do they grow on trees? Do they just showed up in the groceries stores decending from haven? These animals must die so we can survive. That is life.

The Turkey is the Republican Party.
While Sarah Palin blathers on cluelessly, the party's throat is cut, its blood drains out as it thrashes about helplessly, then it dies.
Hypocrisy knows no bounds for you lazy, elitist cowards. Are you too sophisticated (in your own mind) to watch the death of a turkey? Have you tricked yourself into believing that turkey meat, chicken, fish and beef is manufactured? It's raised and then killed you twits! Two short generations ago, people still walking this earth woke and toiled all day on farms and ranches. They hunted and killed their own game or herds. Wake up and either become vegan or accept the realities of your carnivorous ways (and stop apologizing for it).
I'm tired or her and the media running after her. Call it a done deal and stop giving this kook attention. She didn't get elected (thank God!) and no way she'll ever have a chance of being up for election again, so we don't have to worry about her. That said, it's time to let her and all of this nonsense go away. It's just annoying at this point. I can't wait for the day when we won't hear or see the name Palin in any news reports for years and years and years.
Just as the less than studious governor was unaware of the turkey being slaughtered as she was speaking, she was that unaware of the issues of the electorate in the 2008 presidential campagin. She can't learn everything she needs to know about "real" politics in 40 years, let alone four.
Just beyond the turkey in the background, she can see Russia.

Give me a frickin break – who cares if Sarah Palin had in interview and a turkey was being killed in the background!? Really, who even bothers to talk about this, vegetarians I guess? What kind of a CNN story is this? I will admit right now that I am going to eat part of a dead turkey next week, anyone want to interview me about it? I prefer my meat to be free range however, rather than farm raised – industrial meat production is nasty. Happy Thanksgiving!

Everybody understands how turkeys go from the coop to the china, democrats and republicans. What makes this incident so farcical is that she finally got a chance to do something nice and fuzzy, and her "handlers" couldn't even keep her in a photo frame that didn't undermine what she just did for one lucky turkey. Palin has bush-level ineptitude. Please just ignore her–she will go away in time if you do! Does anyone know where I can send a donation to the Alaskan secessionist movement?
